20101216:
This is a good and funny movie. While I haven't read any of the books, I found it enjoyable and would recommend it to anybody looking for a quirky and light movie.

While reformatting this blog post, I realized that two of the movie's actors have become television stars: Martin Freeman (Sherlock) and Zooey Deschanel (New Girl). While I have yet to publish blog posts for the shows, I do have a post for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012) which stars Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins and (500) Days of Summer (2009) which stars Zooey Deschanel as Summer.

20180929:
Watching the movie today, I found the story - as depicted in the film - felt incomplete. From another point of view, the complete timeline and causality of the movie was difficult for me to process without having to sitting down and writing it all out.
With that being said, the movie had many enjoyable elements from both a visual and narrative standpoint.
On 20180929, Netflix determined the movie for me as a 98% match. I decided to give the movie neither a thumbs up nor a thumbs down.
Instant Comments:
3: Oh, it's Martin Freeman.
2: Haha, humor in the fact that the fate of the earth is analogous to the fate of Arthur Dent's home.
3: Ha. That music as the camera pans out.
2: Haha, Alan Rickman makes a great voice for Marvin.
3: Surprise kick.
3: Huh. "You can't be president with a full brain."
2: "Return to this place in exactly seven and a half million years."
3: Is it the same children?
2: "Yes, but you're not gonna like it."
2: "42."
3: What is the ultimate question?
3: It's John Malkovich.
3: That's pretty cool (no eyes and no lower body)
3: Hahaha. Nobody think. And then they simultaneously think of something after a pause.
3: "What are cows?" (he kind of reminded me of Owen Wilson when he said that)
3: Says "Best laid plans of mice." in reference to "Of Mice and Men" by John Steinbeck.
3: "I'd rather be happy than right any day."
3: When did he get his towel back?
3: Philosophy. All those people had lives which ended and then just picked back up from some snapshot.
Credits:
2: In the middle of the credits a Guide to the Galaxy tells us an interesting fact.
DVD Special Features:
- "Additional Guide Entry"
2: Jokingly proves God does not exist.
- There are three deleted scenes.
2: First deleted scene. Entry for Earth is harmless. Punchline: Now it'll say "mostly harmless."
2: Second deleted scene. "We're going to win."
2: Third deleted scene. Zaphod and Questular kiss.
- There are two "really deleted scenes"
2: First really deleted scene. Arthur, Ford, and Zaphod barge in and there's some dialogue which ends in discussion. Being a really deleted scene, I guess this was just for fun and made up.
2: Second really deleted scene. Lol, this one was ridiculous. They get into the cart, but Arthur beats up Slartibartfast and escapes.
- Marvin's Hangman.
2: I played a round of Marvin's Hangman and got the answer right, losing three body parts. It's a bit difficult, you have to remember what letters you picked. A1 E O2 I L V3 F. Grass scenery.
2: I decided to play again and the scenery changed. E R1 T2 L3 N4 S5 LOSE. They don't tell you the answer. In space station or space ship.
E1 A2 I3 O [_OO_] K [_OOK] B [BOOK]. Back to grass scenery.
2: In space. A E1 O2 L3 R S T.
