Groundhog Day (1993)

20101217:
Obviously at the beginning of the movie, you wonder how will this turn into a movie. Then when you find out, the fun begins. The film sort of divides itself into stages. Some stages are having fun, dying, relationships, helping others, and learning.

It's weird in that the movie takes place in a very real world, and yet there is this element of science fiction that runs the storyline. It's never explained how this plot device works, it just happens and eventually doesn't happen.

There was one line which Bill Murray says " Well, what if there is no tomorrow? There wasn't one today." I feel it would have been more appropriate to say, "Well, what if there is no tomorrow? There wasn't one yesterday." However, technically speaking, there was a tomorrow, it was just the same date.

This plot device was used in an episode of Supernatural. I didn't know at the time that it came from this movie. Season 3 Episode 11 "Mystery Spot." Sam wakes up to "Heat of the Moment" instead of "I Got You Babe."
