Lilo & Stitch (2002)

20140206:
A movie about family and friendship, Lilo & Stitch is a fun and thrilling Disney movie. I would easily recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys films made by Walt Disney Animation Studios.

Lilo Pelekai (Daveigh Chase)
"Ohana means family, family means nobody gets left behind. Or forgotten."

20160720:
Thinking my little cousin would enjoy the film, I put it on for her while I worked. Of course, what mainly ended up happening was I got distracted and watched most of the movie while she mainly watched YouTube videos on her mom's iPad.

Although I didn't get to fully watch the film, I'd say Lilo & Stitch has some of the best moments, but as a whole falls short of competing with some of the best.

Stitch (Chris Sanders), Nani (Tia Carrere), and Lilo

Plus, as I've mentioned time and time again, I'll have a bias towards the Disney musicals (e.g., The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin).

Instant Comments:
1: "I would never, ever... make more than one."
1: "I call it, experiment 626."
1: "Meega, nala kweesta!" (I will destroy!)
1: "So it is a monster." "Just a little one."
4: the caption says "Star-Trek like voice"
3: Hehe. Stitch happens to land in Hawaii (small piece of land relative to the large surface area covered by the Pacific Ocean)
4: E-arth
1: Haha. They're using Earth to rebuild the mosquito population.
3: Bleakey says Earth's purpose is to repopulate mosquitoes which are an endangered species, and humans are just part of their food source

"Meega, nala kweesta!"

1: Alan Silvestri. He did the music for Forrest Gump (1994) and The Polar Express (2004), among other things.
2: I love the scene where Lilo is swimming.
1: I love this scene with Lilo coming in to dance practice late from swimming.
1: "Do you know what tuna is?" "Fish?" "Fish!"
1: "Eww, she bit me."
1: "Does this look infected to you?" Oh, I never noticed that that's the same thing Captain Gantu asks his crew after being bit by Stitch.
1: Lilo says "Leave me alone to die" before listening to "Heartbreak Hotel" by Elvis Presley
4: hahaha "me alone" (picture on the wall)
4: "you don't look like a social worker"
3: Cobra Bubbles did not answer Lilo's question about killing someone (and his attitude implies that he has)
3: hehe "practical voodoo"
1,2,3, 4: Haha. "My friends need to be punished."

"I'll be so lonely, baby | Well, I'm so lonely | I'll be so lonely, I could die."

3: hehe. Familiar sounding conversation:
Nani: Lilo! Do you not understand? Do you want to be taken away? Answer me!
Lilo: No!
Nani: No, you don't understand?
Lilo: No!
Nani: No, what?
Lilo: Nooooo! [head thumps to the ground]
1,3: "Aren't they beautiful?" (fat tourists)
1: "You rotten sister, your butt is crushing me! Why do you act so weird!?!"
1: Haha. "[...] and steal everyone's left shoe."
4: I probably never got that. Jumba says Stitch will be drawn to large cities, then Stitch goes around the whole island, and Lilo says it's nice to be on an island away from large cities.
3, 4: Hehe. San Francisco
4: Caption says "King Kong like music"
3: "Eee... save me"
3: Lol the record player ability is strange
2: Their coordinated dance was cool.
1: Man, he's a natural (guitarist).
3: he's a natural musician! (kind of strange how the glass breaks)
2: I love this song. "Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride"
3: I love "Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride," though in this case I like the pop version more
2: It's Jumba's fault!

Stitch breaks out of the pound.

2: I don't understand why that surfing situation would be the final string.
4: "blue punch buggy. no punch back" (I probably didn't get this joke before. usually when you see a bug you get to punch someone, and then you also say "No punch back" to avoid reciprocation on the same vehicle, but the variation here is that Stitch used the car itself to whack Jumba) 3: Haha. I love this dialogue with the gun:
1: Hahaha:
4: hahahaha. (one potato scene):
Jumba: You shouldn't play with guns. | Stitch: Ah okay.
Jumba: Thank you... Oh I just remembered it's your birthday. Happy birthday!
Stitch: Merry Christmas! | Jumba: It's not Christmas.
Stitch: Happy Channukah! | Jumba: It's not Channukah!
Lilo: We're leaving Stitch? | Pleakley: Trust me, this is not gonna end well!
Jumba: One potato! | Stitch: Two potato!

Lilo shows up late to dance practice.

Jumba: Three potato! | Stitch: Four!
Jumba: Five potato! | Stitch: Six potato!
Jumba: Seven potato more!
Stitch: My... | Jumba: mother...
Stitch: told... | Jumba: me...
Stitch: you... | Jumba: are...
Stitch: ...it. | Jumba: Ha! I win!
[Boom!]

Stitch sees a cygnet (young swan).

1: "Okay, okay."
3: O'hana. obviously one of the best scenes
1: "He's very persuasive."
3: Jumba's ship is huge!
1,2: "Abomination." "Stupid head."
3: "Aloha!"
1,3: "Also cute and fluffy!"
1: "This is my family. I found it, all on my own. It's little and broken, but still good. Yeah, still good."
3: Teary eyed. "It's little and broken, but still good."
2: Haha. I forgot that tidbit about the mosquitoes.
3: I didn't realize this, but Lilo and Stitch is probably one of my most watched Disney movies.

Credits:
3: during the credits, there's a photo where Stitch covers two turtles with a leaf
4: Stitch holding a leaf for a turtle. As this was also in Moana, I'm curious if that was an intentional reference to Lilo & Stitch or somehow helping turtles by holding a leaf to shade them is a common action associated with Hawaiia 1,3: The pop version of "Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride" by Jump 5 doesn't find its way into the credits.

1=20140206, 2=20160720, 3=20211105, 4=20240224

I've certainly seen this movie once before, but my guess is I've seen it at least twice before due to my familiarity with the essential lines.
