Gangs of New York (2002)

20101212:
This was a great movie. Leonardo DiCaprio has been in great movies. I've seen so many of them too. I plan to rewatch a bunch of his movies when I get back to CA. I could probably do a one-day marathon. Then I'll have another one-day marathon for Johnny Depp.

Amsterdam Vallon (Leonardo DiCaprio)

The movie was on two discs.

Bill 'The Butcher' Cutting (Daniel Day-Lewis)

I knew that Gotham City (where Batman takes place) is basically New York City, but I didn't realize how true this was until after watching this movie and the aforementioned special feature. See Gotham City (Wikipedia.org).

Jenny Everdeane (Cameron Diaz)

On 20180216, Netflix determined the movie for me as a 97% match.

On 20180514, Netflix determined the movie for me as a 98% match. I decided to give the movie neither a thumbs up nor a thumbs down.

William 'Boss' Tweed (Jim Broadbent)

Instant Comments:
A: Oh, Brendan Gleeson. I didn't know he was in this movie.
A: Why would the battle end as soon as the priest was killed?

John C. Reilly (Happy Jack Mulraney)

A: I wonder how long he spent in reform that he would notice something like a timepiece being lifted (which would seem like a skill acquired on the streets).
A: "Have I ever had you before?" She shakes her head no. "Then you don't call me by my Christian name."
A: Damn. "That, my friends, is the minority vote."
A: Huh. Do the two gangs still go at it? Despite a common goal?

Wlater 'Monk' McGinn (Brendan Gleeson)

A: Interrupted by cannon fire.

Special Features
1: I watched the special feature "Discovery Channel Special 'Uncovering The Real Gangs Of New York'" on the second disc.
