March of the Penguins (2005)

I put this movie on to play in the background. I had seen it before so knew what it was about. I had forgotten how depressing it was. Though all the depressing facts are offset by the cute little penguin chicks.

Morgan Freeman is the narrator.

I guess the ups and downs are what make a nature documentary interesting. It is the dilemma or obstacle that drives my interest in watching. If the event wasn't somehow miraculous, then there's less of an interest. Unless perhaps the style of a documentary has changed to attract the type of audience that enjoys this type of drama. I don't know the history of documentaries, but I guess an interesting documentary beats a plain cut and dry one.
