The Big Lebowski (1998)

20101103:
I heard this movie was great. Having paid attention to most of it, I found it was pretty good.

The Dude (Jeff Bridges) writes a check (69 cents) for a carton of half and half.

In particular, I was surprised to find that Dude, Where's My Car? (1998) takes its title from this movie: "Dude, where is your car?" [...] "Where's your car, Dude?"

I would say Dude, Where's My Car? also references some of the hot mess which Dude finds himself in. The more I think about it, the more I see the similarities.

Tara Reid is Bunny Lebowski.
David Thewlis is Knox Harrington, the video artist. This character is seen at Maude Lebowski's place.

20150811:
Watching this movie again today, I found myself in agreement with my previous entry: The Big Lebowski is a great movie.

Maude Lebowski (Julianne Moore)

However, today's viewing was surely different than the first, because I found myself engaged with the movie and thinking about its themes and messages.

For better or worse, I decided not to pursue any of it beyond the end of the movie. I might, however, rewatch the movie and drink a White Russian everytime The Dude drinks a White Russian...

The Dude keeps his White Russian upright and intact.

Instant Comments:
(The guy's holding a bowling ball) "What is this?" "Obviously you're not a golfer."
The rug really ties the room together.
"Chinamen" references Chinatown (1974).
Ha. "Para usted ingles?"
His insistence on being "The Dude" is definitely interesting.

Brandt (Philip Seymour Hoffman) and The Big Lebowski (David Huddleston)

"I'll suck your cock for a thousand dollars." "Brandt can't watch, though, or he has to pay a hundred."
Hahahahaha. "Mark it zero!"
Ice, Vodka, Kahlua, Half & Half (his first White Russian in the movie)
Lol. "I am the walrus?"
"Where's your car, Dude?"
"In a sense, yes. My art has been commended as being strongly vaginal which bothers some men. The word itself makes some men uncomfortable. Vagina."

"He fixes the cable?"
"I'm staying... I'm finishing my coffee."
Asks for a "Caucasian" at the bowling alley.
Asks for a "White Russian" from Knox.
Keeps the White Russian upright
White Russian at the bowling alley.

The Dude and The Stranger (Sam Elliot)

Damn, now I want In'N'Out.
Tells Jackie Treehorn he drinks a "White Russian."
This scene with the pencil and paper is referenced in Tusk (2014).
"That's a hell of a Caucasian, Jackie."
"All the Dude ever wanted was his rug back."

"That's my robe."
The Dude drinks a White Russian after getting out of bed.
Lol, it's pretty funny when he throws Mr. Lebowski down. Shock value.
Haha. The coffee can.
"The Dude abides." ["One generation passes away, and another generation comes: but the earth abides forever."]
