20130829:
Following The Muppet Movie (1979), I continued my break from the James Bond series with Something's Gotta Give.
This romantic comedy starring Diane Keaton and Jack Nicholson is mostly a joy to watch, simply to see the two perform as actors. However, the story itself is rough around the edges, especially towards the second half of the movie.
Keanu Reeves's performance wasn't bad. Though to be honest, I probably underrate him as an actor. While I enjoy three of the four movies I've seen with him as the lead role*, they give me the impression that Keanu Reeves has a flatter style of acting.
My favorite theme in the movie was the choice of wardrobe of the main characters: black for Harry and white for Erica. Overall, I enjoy this movie.
*I like the following: The Matrix (1999), Speed (1994), and Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (1989). I dislike Constantine (2005).
Instant Comments:
Lol. It's an epidemic.
"Your dad's gonna be okay." "He's not my dad." "I'm sorry. Your granddad's gonna be okay."
"What's with the turtlenecks? It's the middle of summer."
"I didn't see anything. Just your tits." Ha.
"I'm walking around the house!"
Aww. White and black PJs. It matches the rocks.
"Grilled cheese?" "Pancakes." "Ah! Totally what I wanted."
Huh. That's sweet, in its own way.
Oh, even more so in the immediate next scene (between the daughter and the mom).
Hehe. The black rocks.
Lol. "Cut it off."
That's a good line. "Open your eyes so I know you hear me."
It's funny. "Let's take your blood pressure."
"OMG. I do like sex."
Hmm. I guess I didn't see that coming. On the other hand, it's only halfway into the film, so something has to happen. And he does say before he leaves, "At one point I even thought... soulmates."
Huh. I didn't see that coming. LOL. That makes for a good story.
Hehe. I do that sometimes: one foot out.
Haha. "Can you see this?"
Hahaha. "'You are a woman to love'... What does that mean?"
References Casablanca: "We'll always have Paris."
It's funny watching her watch her cry as she writes the play.
Spontaneous crying.
#Awkward.
Aww. The glasses.
"Look who gets to be the girl?"
