I've seen parts of this movie two or three times before, but I've never seen the movie in full. While the parts I had seen were emotionally touching, I neither understood who the protagonist was protecting, nor why he needed to protect them. After seeing the entire movie, I learned that the hotel manager (Don Cheadle) was providing refuge to the Tutsis and protecting them from the Hutu extremists.

Jack Daglish (Joaquin Phoenix)

The movie had a good flow to it. It also did a great job of capturing various emotions and creating tense moments. In addition, I enjoyed the movie's soundtrack.

In conclusion, if you enjoy dramas like Schindler's List (1993), I would highly recommend you watch Hotel Rwanda.

Paul encounters a gut-wrenching sight.
The movie Life is Beautiful (1997) had a similar scene.
