Inside Man (2006)

20180520:
This movie was different from my expectation of a bank heist. And while the movie had a great hook, I thought the ending was underwhelming. With that being said, I enjoyed the interaction between the three main characters: Detective Keith Frazier (Denzel Washington), Dalton Russell (Clive Owen), and Miss White (Jodie Foster).

Detective Keith Frazier (Denzel Washington)

For the most part, the plot around the core of the heist was sensible, but unless I missed some detail, the initial acquisition of inside information appears to be left unexplained. This lack of explanation was unsatisfying.

Overall, I'm not sure who would enjoy this film, but for what it's worth, I did enjoy most of it.

Netflix determined the movie for me as a 86% match. I decided to give the movie neither a thumbs up nor a thumbs down.

Dalton Russell (Clive Owen)

Instant Comments:
The beginning of his who what when was boring, but it ended in a an appropriately mysterious way.
Is that the same actor from Lost? [Yes, Ken Leung]
"Possible 10-30." (Ten-code - Wikipedia.org).
He let him keep the PSP. Wonder if this will come into play. Since a PSP probably has access to the internet.
Hmm. Seems like they intend to get themselves released as one of the hostages. But how would they get away with the money?

Madeleine White (Jodie Foster)

Oh right. The problem is that everybody will be interrogated.
Knowledge of people in the bank prior to the painters... It doesn't exclude someone that is there that isn't a painter. Would be least suspect. Yet someone thinking about that situation would take the precaution to interrogate everyone. Oh wait, but it would still reduce the number of persons who came in covered.
They can, however, get a list of employees of the bank. While that's not a perfect alibi. It helps differentiate the types of persons. Though maybe that's an unwanted bias.

Arthur Case (Christopher Plummer)

Damn. Racial profiling.
Lol. This smart ass said he wasn't afraid to be shot etc. but kicks and screams as he's being pulled.
Idiot.
That's quite a conversation between Ms. White and the Detective.
"You got to be crazy to go in there." Oh shit. Is he in on it? Is he the titular "Inside Man"?
Interesting event: the detective tackles him.

Captain John Darius (Willem Dafoe)

Did he pretend to shoot a hostage or did he really shoot a hostage?
The detective and Ms. White have another conversation. Only 23 minutes in the movie left.
Hmm. Anti-climatic ending.
Reading about the ending. I came across this useful Q&A: "What was up with all the digging? Are we to think they tapped into the water and sewage lines?" "They dug a latrine for him to use during the week he was living in his little cell."

Detective Keith Frazier and Detective Bill Mitchell (Chiwetel Ejiofor)

Oh and this pair: "Why does Denzel brings the ring to Foster and the mayor in a restaurant? What makes him think that Foster will advertise the info about war crimes?" Denzel has an incriminating recording of Foster and the mayor.
