Walt Disney Animation Collection: Vol. 1: Mickey and the Beanstalk (2009)

20170606:
Wow, I haven't seen a cartoon starring Mickey Mouse in a while. I enjoyed watching this collection of shorts, especially since some were shorts I had seen as a child (2nd, 3rd, and 4th shorts).

Mickey Mouse in "Mickey and the Beanstalk"

Overall, this collection will either be great for kids, or for adults looking for a little nostalgia.

Netflix determined the movie for me as a <56%* match. I decided to give the collection neither a thumbs up nor a thumbs down.

Mickey and Pluto in "Mr. Mouse Takes a Trip"

*With the first movie without a match percentage being 1st, Walt Disney Animation Collection: Vol. 1: Mickey and the Beanstalk was 9 out of 52 items with hidden match percentages.

Mickey and Willie the Giant in "Mickey and the Beanstalk"

Mickey and the Beanstalk (1947)
Ludwig Von Drake mentions a couple films: Cinderella, Pinocchio, Sleeping Beauty, and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
Haha. Donald tells the narrator to shut up.
As I watch, I vaguely remember bits and parts of it.
Lol. Mickey knocks and I was thinking, he can just go under. And then he decides to go under.
"Here he comes with the key." "Let me have it Mickey." Boink.
They didn't steal anything in this retelling of Jack and the Beanstalk, but why was stealing in the original story okay? [The Wikipedia article discusses how some versions justify Jack's actions, by making the giant accountable for something; for example, in this story, the giant has stolen the harp]

Mickey in "Brave Little Tailor"

Brave Little Tailor (1938)
Haha. Seven (flies) in one blow.
I wasn't sure if I saw this one before, but I recognized when the giant said, "Smoke," picked up a roof, and started smoking it.
Lol. He said "Gesundheit" in Mickey and the Beanstalk as well. Must have been a reference to this short.

Mickey in "Thru the Mirror"

Thru the Mirror (1936)
Oh, I've definitely seen Thru the Mirror several times before. I think it was part of a VHS we had.

Mickey and (Spider) Pete in "Gulliver Mickey"

Gulliver Mickey (1934)
Hehe. Like the last short, he's reading the book.
Refers to himself as Uncle Mickey.
Hehe. This time Mickey's the giant...
Oh, I didn't remember this short at first, but I remembered parts of it towards the end.
This spider has a face which looks like Pete. [I learned today that Pete is a cat][The Wikipedia article for this short refers to the spider as Pete in parentheses]

Pluto, Mickey, and Pete in "Mr. Mouse Takes a Trip"

Mr. Mouse Takes a Trip (1940)
Ah, and here's the real Pete.
