Aladdin (1992)

20211010 Comment:
Aladdin was one of my favorite movies when I was a kid.

Aladdin (Scott Weinger) and Abu (Frank Welker)

At one point my parents bought me the Aladdin - Harmonica Fun! Pack. The bundle is a harmonica and a harmonica tablature of six songs from the film. I still have it.

I remember pretending to be Aladdin by pulling my shirt up and over my head. I also vaguely remember pretending to run, slide, and duck like Aladdin does as the tower rolls and the window in teh tower lines up with Aladdin.

Princess Jasmine (Linda Larkin)

Instant Comments:
1a: Disney Plus puts a warning about it:
This program includes negative depictions and/or mistreatment of people or cultures. These stereotypes were wrong then and are wrong now. Rather than remove this content, we want to acknowledge its harmful impact, learn from it and spark conversations to create a more inclusive future together.

Genie (Robin Williams)

1a: Oh, this salesman is also voiced by Robin Williams? The character has the same speech patterns, in particular similar to the Genie [yes, Robin Williams voiced the "Peddler"]
1a: I never thought about how all the treasure got into the Cave of Wonders to begin with.
1a: Is it literally only "one" diamond in the rough?
1a: "It's not every day you see a horse with two rear ends"
1a: Actually did he just find a realy nice abandoned building?

Jafar (Jonathan Freeman) and Iago (Gilbert Gottfried)

1a: Ben keeps asking "Where's the monkey" sometimes he even asks when Abu is in the frame.
1a: I remember playing the video game and I remember the lava level being difficult. I can't remember if I got past it or not. Actually I vaguely recall playing a Genie level, so I think I did beat the lava level.
1a: "That two-tailed son of a jackal."
1a: "Hang on a sec" - hangs Aladdin on the wall.
1a: Pause before Genie's song.

"A Whole New World"

1b: continue Aladdin.
1b: if he wanted to abuse the wishes, Aladdin could have let some friends make some wishes prior to setting the genie free.
1b: hehe Sebastian.
1b: where did all the servants go after the song?
1b: this love song (and corresponding animation) is so much better than love song (and corresponding animation) in The Lion King.

Aladdin expresses joy on his face after surviving the rolling tower.
In contrast, Abu appears to be traumatized.

1b: hehe missing nose.
1b: I love that scene where he spots where the window will roll
1b: huh, Iago could just wish Jafar free then?
