While I enjoyed the beginning of the film, I was confused about where it was headed. In particular, I thought the ending was executed poorly.
Moreover, the action and gore was fun to watch at first, but it got a little repetitive and near the end it seemed to rely too heavily on special effects.
Overall, I recall liking the anime movie and unfortunately this live action remake didn't seem as good.

Kato's fight sequence was fun, especially because it's in the daylight and the action is more clearcut.
