20250425:
Ben has brought home from his school libraries some short stories pertaining to Star Wars specifically the first and second movies. There was one page in particular where Obi-Wan disappears and it was hard to explain it to him. He's also taken a fancy to the idea of light sabers. As such, I decided I would soon show him the movie.

hehe C-3PO says R2-D2 tricked him into coming
C-3PO doesn't make any attempt to bring R2-D2 until the red unit broke down...
Obi-Wan says he never owned a droid, but in the prequels he would have at least known of R2D2 [Initial portion of Google AI Overview response: "The idea that Obi-Wan Kenobi forgets R2-D2 in "A New Hope" is often discussed, but it's not a case of a retcon. Rather, it's a creative interpretation of a line Obi-Wan says to Luke: "I don't remember owning a droid.". While it's true Obi-Wan never owned R2-D2, this line can be interpreted as a playful lie by omission, especially given Alec Guinness's smirk when delivering it.]
hehe Obi-Wan just straight up tells Luke that his father and him were Jedi Knights and Luke doesn't really bat an eye to the statement
"Only Imperial stormtroopers are so precise"
hehe the Kessel run in 12 parsecs [the route is traditionally a distance of 20 parsecs]
Han explains jumping to lightspeed isn't easy (I believe this was trivialized in the newer trilogy)
oh wow. Obi-Wan felt the destruction of Alderaan
He blocked all three fires and Han calls it as luck... If it was one that is luck, if it were two then that could be real lucky, but three...
jeez. How long would it really have taken to build such a structure? ["In the Star Wars universe, the first Death Star took approximately 20 years to build, while the second, which was larger, was completed in only 4 years. However, the initial planning and early stages of research and development for the first Death Star began much earlier, potentially decades before its completion"]
"Either I'm going to kill her or I'm beginning to like her."
Hehe can't believe C-3PO's response worked
Hahaha. I love that. "Listen to them, they're dying C-3PO"
why would Luke have rope in his utility belt. Actually why does he have a utility belt at all
"Run Luke Run" - Obi-Wan after he disappeared in the voice
ah that's what I thought. Early in the film he mentions Biggs and someone else already went to the academy a year before. And here he reunites with his friend.
why do the rebels fly with droid units and not the imperial?
Chewie doesn't get a medal?
