Mary Poppins (1964)

Instant Comments:
[Some of these initial scenes appear pixelated]
Bert says it's happened before.
I imagine I never really absorbed all the deeper story when I was younger. From Bert interrupting his speech to fortell Mary Poppin coming, talking toward the viewer as if we were looking for 17 Cherry Tree Lane, pausing at Admiral Boom's house who seems to have his own set of perception, that the first song is regarding women's rights to vote, and Admiral Boom warns Mr. Banks but Banks is oblivious to the warning
"Ghastly looking crew." (I assume that's a euphemism for their unappealing appearances.
Based on George's strange acting, she declares that she'll stay for a trial period of one week.
"No, made of" (I don't think I would have caught that trade of conversation
I forgot this tape measure bit. "Mary Poppins - practically perfect in every way." Oh, the blocks spell "MARY POPPINS"
A screever.
"Better than a finger in the eye."
His accent on "silhouette"
"Don't fall and smudge the drawing."
I'm pretty sure I remember the lyrics were "blue bird" sky, but apparently it's a "bluer" sky.
I probably never appreciated the blend of live action and animation, and there's this intersting layer of the animation that makes up the drawing.
"If you don't want to go anywhere." "Who says we're not going anywhere?" Oh I see, I almost surely never understood that the fox was being targeted by the hounds for hunting.
precocious: "(of a child) having developed certain abilities or proclivities at an earlier age than usual."
"Dociousaliexpisticfragicalirupus"
"It's something to say when you don't know what to say." "Well I always know what to say."
He wants the piano tuned but Winifred retorts that he doesn't play
stravaging: "Scot., Irish, and North England. to wander aimlessly. to saunter; stroll."
Ben laughs at the different laughs (e.g., some laugh too fast)
I probably never understood before. Makes faces in a watch factory.
Haha. "How are you at catching mice?" I wonder if I understood that punchline when I was younger.
Oh I get it. "A little down in the mouth." Because "down" is what fills the pillow. I am sure I didn't get that one before. Especially since Uncle Albert says it's not a good joke. But really it's no worse than the others.
Huh. Winifred asks, "George, do you know what you're doing?"
Hehe. "Winifred, did I say I would take the children to the bank?"
Hehe. She kind of has a smile at the end of saying "Me put ideas into people's heads"
Paused at the end of "Feed the Birds (Tuppence a Bag)"; ~1 hr 27 minutes mark [I never realized, with a runtime of 139 minutes, this movie is long relative to other Disney movies]

Watched several times before.
