20130129:
I absolutely love the visuals in this movie. In fact, even as I was trying to think of other good things to say about the movie, I kept thinking about its visuals. I wish I had had the opportunity to see this movie in theaters.
After watching the movie, I saw a short clip on how the actors would act out the parts and their expressions and movements would be recorded as a realistic reference for the animators. Maybe that's part of the reason why the movie is visually pleasing. Of course, there was more visual detail than just the character expressions. For example, I also enjoyed the scenery and water animation.
Actually, Rango had some pretty good jokes spread throughout the movie as well. While they didn't have me bursting out loud, they definitely fit the fun mood of the film.
Overall, I'd highly recommend watching this movie if you're hankering for a modern Spaghetti western with a touch of humor to lighten the mood.
Note: Rango won the Oscar award for best animated film of the year in 2012; it did not, however, have much competition.

Ha. The dead insect.
"I couldn't help notice..." Ha. "Are those real?"
I like the graphics.
"Who am I? I could be anyone." He sees DURANGO and covers the DU.
Hahahaha. Rango breathes the fire, slaps him, and pours alcohol on his face to increase the burns.
Oh shit. He breaks the bottle of vintage floodwater.
Random shit at the 55 minute mark. "Who needs a check-up?" "Awkward."
Electric guitar!
The main dilemma of the movie is a parody of the dilemma of another movie: Chinatown (1974).
"Ride of the Valkyries." I'm reminded of Apocalypse Now (1979)
That's so beautiful. His walk across the road.
"No man can walk out of his own story."
Spirit of the West is based on Clint Eastwood's character Blondie in The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly (1966).
Ha. He eats the insect passing by.
Of the voice actors, I'm only familiar with Johnny Depp and Abigail Breslin. However, I recognized neither of their voices in the film.

Rango (Johnny Depp) tries to blend in. (Technically the character isn't named Rango at this point in the movie.) |
