From what I can remember, not counting an action-adventure spin-off, I've never played a game of Mortal Kombat before. I do, however, own Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection, so I'll play them when I get the chance.
I started watching this, and then wondered if I should first play the game, because I never really did. In particular, my only strong connection with Mortal Kombat is the movie's soundtrack. More specifically, when I was a kid, I was on the Tae Kwon Do demonstration team and the demo team instructor choreographed an entire performance around the soundtrack.
In any case, I decided to go ahead and watch the movie without having played the game. For the most part, the movie was as bad as I thought it would be. I did, however, find it quite humorous. I especially enjoyed the comic relief as provided by Johnny Cage.
Looking back on the history of movies based on video games, who would have thought that eventually they'd be good.
Instant Comments:
"This is where you fall down." - Johnny Cage
Ha. "Huh, thank God I didn't ask him to park the car."
Damn, this Sonya isn't messing around.
The name of the tournament is called Mortal Kombat
Lol. It's hard to take Lord Rayden* seriously. [*There is media where his name is spelled 'Raiden' and others where it's spelled 'Rayden', here it is the latter.]
Actually, it's hard to take any of them seriously except for Johnny Cage whose character seems to embrace the comedic nature of the movie.
Ha, his luggage just rolls down the steps.
Lol. Set out food for your guests just to flip it over.
Interesting, the followers range in fitness (from a bit of stomach flab to eight packs)
"I can smell her perfume." "I don't smell anything." "I smell something... bullshit."
Yay, this track. "Mortal Kombat!!!"
"You guys are lucky he stopped us."
"You're soul is mine. Fatality."
Ha. He tells her to finish him.
"Get over here!" "Welcome."
"Flawless victory."
"At last, one of them has understood."
"Those were five hundred dollar glasses, asshole."
"This is where you fall down."
Lol. These spikes came out of the symbol... just so that the ending would be cool? :p
"Flawless victory."
"Kano, Liu Kang, Rayden, Johnny Cage, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Sonya."
