The Seven Deadly Sins

20190411:
After trying to watch Aggretsuko, I started watching this series today. I watch it with English audio and English subtitles, though the English subtitles appear to be the English translation for Japanese audio.

Netflix determined the series for me as a 72% match.

[20190417]

20190421:
I finished the second season today (labeled on Netflix as the third season). Unfortunately, the last episode leaves us with several loose ends.

20240313:
Today I watched recaps of the first and second seasons on YouTube:
The Seven Deadly Sins: Season 1 (Full Recap)
The Seven Deadly Sins: Season 2 Part 1 (Full Recap)
The Seven Deadly Sins: Season 2 Part 2 (Full Recap)

Note that the Season 2 Part 1 recap begins with the four specials between Season 1 and Season 2 (Netflix labels these four specials as Season 2 and labels Season 2 as Season 3).

(Season 1)

S1E01
Smile: springiness.
LOL: excuse me; heart rate.
hahaha, saves her and squeezes her breast.
How is this kid able to jump up from the fallen cliff with a girl, a pig, and a soldier; he can't be normal.
Wow, he sliced down an entire forest.
Ah... the big reveal.
Exciting end.
After credits: Hawk's mom. She's so big, I wonder where she stays [shown in next episode].
Elizabeth asks if it was by chance or providence.
1=20190411

S1E02
LOL: pervert, size check.
Ah, answers my question on where Hawk's mom goes (into the ground).
lol, "It's my first time".
lol, pretty cool but how did Meliodas know it was coming? [the wiki simply phrases it as "he senses it coming"; simple, makes sense]
1=20190412

S1E03
lol, he was grabbing her bottom.
her panties are missing.
ah, I bet he removed them so he can tell the real from fake.
lol, Simon says.
huh, if she didn't initially recognize him perhaps it means he resurrected as a younger self.
"lil gil"
hmm, a bit anticlomatic, Meliodas flat out tells his version of the story which, if he is to be believed, paints him and the so-called "Seven Deadly Sins" to be innocent; yet Gil is still caught up in thinking otherwise; I suppose it's still too early to tell, but currently all evidence does favor Meliodas
Obviously some trickery is at play here.... because no way Meliodas would really be struck down so easily by Gil like that... it's a matter of what the trick is [It's revealed soon enough.
1=20190412

S1E04
ha: doing this might heal me.
hmm... what's the purpose of keeping him alive at all?
resume very end
huh, considering he just escaped when supposedly he has been given hardly any nourishment... they should be more weary
lol haircut
healing factor...
1=20190413

S1E05
wow, Elizabeth shows cleverness.
"you little bitch"
lol, their playful meeting resulted in casually breaking the eternal seal
1=20190413

S1E06
1=20190414

S1E07
Diane and Meliodas recognize King.
"My name is Ellen".
1=20190414

S1E08
"Simple by dying"
"Let me finish damn it" (so now we understand what he said to Elaine)
1=20190414

S1E09
Although he doesn't die, shouldn't he still feel pain?
"Harlequin King of the Fairies"
"Tell me does it feel better if I do this?"
hahahaha grope
lost sold stolen
really... demon's blood is a power juice? I would hope there's repercussions or that the effect is just temporary
lol, she lost her gigantic hammer
death is a partial repercussion...
small twist was appreciated guy dies, girl lives
1=20190414

S1E10
ha: "Where'd you get that jacket?"
ha Elizabeth
"pervert"
a little silly that no weapons, but powers ok.
1=20190414

S1E14
A Reader of Books.
Whoever moves first... (I don't understand the strategy involved).
Interesting twist (catches arrow).
1=20190414

S1E15
1=20190414

S1E16
hehe dungeon vs tower.
1=20190415

S1E17
so Guila and Howzer.
1=20190415

S1E18
Sad separation of King and Diane
1=20190415

S1E20
he didn't dodge on purpose
"hes not turning into a demon, or even fighting back" (3v1)
"I see it!" (it happened so fast, I'm not exactly sure what he destroyed... the curse that was binding Gilthunder? What did it have to do with Margaret?) [apparently it was subtle... there was a lizard following Margaret and a Bird following Gilthunder. Meliodas destroyed the lizard and Gilthunder. Relieved of protecting Margaret, Gilthunder destroyed the bird] [explained in next episode]
That's right he didn't get to ask Merlin what happened 10 yrs ago... (i wonder if the intention is to make Merlin a shady companion)
1=20190416

S1E21
lol, right in front of her father.
hehe Ban looking to consider killing Mel?
1=20190416

S1E22
lol Ban realizes he should have healed Meliodas
lol what is Hawk if not just an awesome pig
1=20190416

S1E23
aww...
huh, I previously thought it was the tears that healed Meluodas and the doctor... so apparently she does have healing powers....
1=20190416

S1E24
There's only six of them
hehe Meliodas gets Elizabeth
1=20190416

Signs of Holy War

SXE01
Merlin is similar to BLEACH's Kiritsigui: research
1=20190416

SXE02
Hehe. The captain isn't familiar with his own code.
Dreyfus...
1=20190416

SXE03
The tension kills. Will it ever be revealed to Diane that their relationship goes back 200 years?
"By any chance, have you regained your memories?" [she kisses him]
Oh no! He got bumped on the head.
1=20190416

SXE04
Merlin mentions the Ten Commandments. Interesting that the good guys are "The Seven Deadly Sins" while the bad guys are "The Ten Commandments"
Ha. That's true. Merlin points out her usual outfit is arguably more revealing.
1=20190417

Revival of the Commandments (Season 2)

S2E01
A dream? Does she have her father's... oh wait, she's adopted.
Everybody has a new outfit. Practically.
Haha, times 100, it's 3000. So just 30. But considering Hawk's attacks, I feel it should be a little higher.
Huh. He took a punch and then he shoots his mouth off.
Meliodas: 3370
Gowther explains that power levels fluctuate.
Poor Hawk still thinks he has a power level of 3000.
1=20190417

S2E02
Diane tells Elizabeth that she (Diane) loves King
Aww... Helbram.
Huh. What did Gowther discard, why does Merlin need to build an armor for Gowther that controls magic, and what was the effect of Hawk eating the pills [answered later]
1=20190417

S2E03
Huh... Gowther is a doll.
Hmm... what happened to Diane?
Why cast a spherical barrier. Why not just a concentrated barrier where the Golem was attacking?
1=20190417

S2E04
Huh. Why did Hendrickson have this change of heart?
Wow. Ban comes occasionally to drain his blood and Gerheade wants instead to have him be a conisstent source of nourishment...
Ugh. I get tired of hearing Elizabeth complain about being useless.
Hehe. Power Level of 26,000 (and supposedly he's not even rested).
1=20190417

S2E05
Interesting. She turned to stone because his power represents the commandment of truth.
Meliodas's power jumped to 4,400.
Meliodas (Demon): 13,000.
What is the twist with Meliodas and Merlin? We do see that the demon was tagged with a homing beacon of some sort.
1=20190417

S2E06
Fraudrin.
1=20190417

S2E07
1=20190417

S2E08
"Right now I'm still in the process of reading the room."
1=20190417

S2E09
Sin of Wrath
Did he really destroy a whole city (and it's inhabitants) when he was consumed by his wrath?
1=20190417

S2E10
1=20190417

S2E11
King vs. Meliodas.
Huh. King reasons that Meliodas is one of the Ten Commandments.
Lol. "Gotcha!"
Brothers.
1=20190417

S2E12
"Because Elizabeth is the reincarnation of Liz."
Hehe. Accidentally reported 32500 as 3250. (by the way, it seems implied that Merlin also knows how to read power levels)
1=20190417

S2E13
Ban properly called Jericho by her name, Jericho.
Jericho's speech to Elaine is touching
Wow. Zhivago
1=20190417

S2E14
Galand's power level with ability: 40,000.
Whereas Merlin places Escanor's as rising to 60K.
1=20190417

S2E15
"You understand, don't you?" "Not even a little bit."
Matrona just said "Drole" and it turns out to be that giant.
Oh no! Traitor.
Dreyfus says Gowther is a member of the Ten Commandments.
1=20190420

S2E16
King mentions that he has no wings, possibly because he's a late bloomer.
Why not just go over the maze? [It's eventually shown why.]
Surprising. Elizabeth removed all the leeches.
Ha. Hawk transformed!
Lol. "Trans Pork"
Huh. They sense each other (Elizabeth and Meliodas)
1=20190420

S2E17
They so happen to be in pairs for this two-man tag match.
Oh, the teams are jumbled.
Ha. Meliodas and Ban weren't even trying to defeat the birds.
Ha. He's bleeding because he's in her chest.
Ah, fate has King and Diane set up against the dummies of their counterparts.
1=20190420

S2E18
How did the Harlequin golem have so much power? [Oh, it's based on the user's creation]
That's a good twist. And Meliodas knew.
1=20190420

S2E19
"The enemy of the enemy is a friend."
How could I forget. Revenge counter again.
1=20190420

S2E20
I'm glad "Droplet of Life" is described as having a limit.
Seven hearts.
Hmm. Interesting (Meliodas seemingly has been killed)
1=20190420

S2E21
Zaratras refers to Hawk as "Lord Piglet."
Escanor.
1=20190420

S2E22
Ha! "My attack has no effect on you? Who decided that? Your darkness swallowed up my sun? Who decided that?"
Anticlimatic. He resurrected a Goddess, but the Goddess wasn't powerful enough.
Oh, one of her eyes is the same as the Goddess's eye. At least... I think so.
1=20190420

S2E23
"Please touch me more."
"If at all possible I'd rather not kill you.... that's what the old me would have said anyway."
They can't have defeated Fraudrin that easily...
Hehe 30000 for a clone. [60000 when doubled, more when in demon form]
1=20190421

S2E24
"Wait, that's not how Captain usually does things."
Hahaha. Griamore returns to normal and he's naked.
English: "I am Gowther the Goat Sin, I am one of the Seven Deadly Sins. Sparkle." | "I am Gowther of Selflessness of the Ten Commandments. Sparkle."
Subtitles: "I am Gowther the Goat Sin of the Seven Deadly Sins. Sparkle." | "I am Gowther of Selflessness... of the Ten Commandments. Sparkle."
1=20190421
S3E01
Smile. "That massage was pretty average. Needs work."
1=20240313

S3E02
Smile. "Pair" (of wings or balls?)
Surpass us? What's the deal?
1=20240313

S3E03
1=20240313

S3E04
Hmm... Elizabeth tried to tell them
Gowther? Huh. I was wondering if King Bartra's vision really took place in the past. But Merlin and Escanor are missing
1=20240313

S3E05
"No. I"ll save them."
Oh. I didn't expect that ("Shall we" leading to them helping as opposed to gaining up on Elizabeth/Meliodas; I thought that would result in King and Diane jumping in)
Oh wow. Rou was in league with the demons (along with the other humans)
1=20240313

S3E06
Rou's story shows that fairies and giants are not necessarily good races
"You're a good liar aren't you?" (I wonder what that meant?)
Huh. So it's revealed that Gloxinia killed Rou (whereas King made the choice not to)
1=20240313

S3E07
How strange that King and Diane really were sent back in time, and that Gowther restored Diane's memories
Hehe. Ban and Meliodas tease King's wings
1=20240313

S3E08
Hehe. Gowther reads through the book simply by flipping through the pages
Huh. Strange misunderstanding
This episode doesn't have the usual credits. Instead the credits run in tandem with the ending of the episode
1=20240313

S3E09
Ban mentions seeing someone he loves die twice to Meliodas who by this point we figure he's seen Elizabeth die many many times over
Strange. Three days after regaining all her memories
1=20240314

S3E10
107 times
Hmm. If he has eternal life, then he should make more use of that in battle.
If the Demon King can apply that type of curse... does it mean he has eternal life as well? Why not give eternal life to all demons?
1=20240314

S3E11
In the other episode it is shown that Escanor uses the glasses from Merlin to stay in normal form, but I didn't understand why [in short, a stack exchange answer gives multiple reasons to stay in normal form: sunlight form drains life, sunlight form can hurt those nearby (simply from proximity), sunlight form is easy to track down due to it's power aura, and sunlight form has a different personality (arguably less friendly); as such, all in all Escanor prefers to be in normal form
Smile. Hawk: "Chorizo strike."
Oh. The reason Meliodas would want to die as few times as possible is because of the clause in his curse where he loses his emotions
Hmm. Did Helbram die for nothing or was it necessary to eliminate most souls prior to Elizabeth's light? [I suppose regardless Helbram felt he needed to apologize to the people he killed]
I mean... watching someone die seems unfortunate, but the resurrection part interesting... I'm curious if I would be equally upset knowing that the person would be resurrected... it'd never be a loss and instead a "see you in the next life"
1=20240314

S3E12
Smile. "Princess Elizabeth, I'd appreciate if you coudl tell me more about that in great detail."
Hmm. I feel like strategically Melascula shouldn't go alone agains the Seven Deadly Sins
Elaine is fighting. I'm curious if Ban gave her some of his blood, if it would take her half-dead state to full life.
Hawk reads Elaine's power level: 21,050
Hmm. Basically this is like Meliodas "Hulking" out or like Ichigo's Hollow form
Merlin mentions that Melascula was arrogant to turn into the snake form to fight them as opposed to just using her magic [but earlier Melascula said her hand was forced into using this form - as if to say this form was more powerful]
Hehe. Elizabeth comes in to deal the finishing blow interupting Merlin's opportunity to do it
Oh I see. Elizabeth's solution results in a still alive Melascula and therefore a still alive Elaine.
1=20240314

S3E13
Near noon time Escanor 114K vs Ten Commandments Meliodas at 142K.
Seems like Escanor can somewhat keep up though so that's good
Pretty cool that Merlin's Perfect Cube contains their blast... that's quite a powerful spell.
"One thousand divine cuts." "That almost tickles."
Hehe. Merlin punches Escanor to show that she knew he was depleted of strength
They came in wearing armor... Ban and Gowther lost their top armor, Meliodas lost his armor
Oh wow. Arthur encounters Merlin's pet
Hmm. I was going to say that the Demon King seems super strong... what's to stop him from just destroying every non-demon. (though I suppose the same of the super Angel [Supreme Deity]... whatever happened to her. Also what's wrong with their own worlds. Why is the human world the battleground? In any case, it appears the Demon King is sealed
I generally have been skipping credits, so I was typing and it seems the credits for this episode are different from the end credits at the start of the season.
1=20240314

S3E14
Because the end credits of the last episode were different. I tried watching the opening credits and it was also a new opening credits. Various snippets of them wearing armor and Seven Deadly Sins fighting Ten Commandments are seen. The last part of the credits is the Supreme Deity and the Demon King (similar to when they cursed Meliodas and Elizabeth
Huh. She wonders why Meliodas didn't kill them
Hahaha. [Butt cheek] "Find out if it's still there."
Hmm... would it have been better for them to play around and surprise turn on Zeldris?
I thought he said "stars" but he actually said "stardust"
What's the purpose of such a wide area attack. It lacks accuracy
1=20240314

S3E15
That's such a smart strategy by Gowther against Full Counter
What did Hawk eat to look the way he currently does (something that flies)
He's very biased to somehow ignore the fact that Meliodas is their team captain
"That makes you a great king in my book"
Smile. "Ultrasecret skill. All clean"
Huh. Did Hawk not successfully lick the symbol?
Oh it seems not.
Hmm... I'm thinking since they're all tired... Meliodas has to be the one to wake up to fight Chandler
1=20240314

S3E16
Ah okay... Gloxinia and Drole show up
I feel like in other shows, the weaker characters will generally acknowledge there's a power difference that their presence is a hindrance... (as the more powerful characters waste attention on not hurting the weaker characters
Ah... Drole's death speech has me think of the other episode of how Diane broke the trial: she escaped. At the time it didn't quite make sense. But in light of the speech, it makes sense.
Oh. I didn't notice earlier... but this Meliodas is also taller
Hmm... Meliodas says many mean things... but it's possible he's aware of what he's saying... a common trope. After all, he acknowledges "they were friends." Even though he used past tense... I feel like if full evil Meliodas took over then he simply would not be aware of that aspect at all. To me... it sort of makes sense... since otherwise he'd have to fight Chandler and risk hurting them when they're all weak
Oh. Hawk chews some food from his pouch to transform
1=20240314

S3E17
Huh. Only a year for that minute? I feel like she should have said "years" for more impact and believability
Weird. It almost seemed like Meliodas was able to turn his demon form back on at will
1=20240314

S3E18
A strand of hair. Like the Monkey King?
Hmm Ludociel
He makes her seem so powerful, but Chandler was more powerful than Merlin
Huh. Merlin knew Ludociel was there? How would that be possible
1=20240314

S3E19
This Elizabeth sees my point in that she accepts the ability to be reincarnated over and over
I love how Merlin continues to call Elizabeth as Big Sis Sis
Howzer speaks the basic words of someone who is properly neutral
"Where's the fourth?"
Huh. Ludociel basically brainwashed them
Another episode where the credits run over the ending. And a very heartwarming ending where King Bartras and Elizabeth have a conversation and while it's kind of sad, it's mostly nice to see such love between the two
1=20240314

S3E20
Ludociel explains the origins of Escanor's powers
Huh. Cath eats Peronia
1=20240314

S3E21
Huh. What does that mean. "Arthur, you lied to me didn't you." - Cath
Hmm. Seems like an anticlimatic ending for Arthur...
Cath repeats the part about Arthur lying.
New outfits
1=20240315

S3E22
"That's what you'd expect from the Four Archangels" (kind of weird as there's only three)
"Born without the power of darkness"
Wow. She must probably feel guilty after this. It's directly her mistake that caused him to protect her and die doing so
1=20240315

S3E23
I'm not a fan of these big attacks. They seem like a waste of power. It happens a lot in the series though. The reason is honing such power into something focused would be more potent... When fighting a single target and a big power fills an area, then it's just a bunch of moving molecules moving around. Which would be a viable strategy against a fast target that's hard to precisely hit... but I think there should be a conversion from wide net to precise trap to direct hit sort of transitions... otherwise it's just false display of power
88000! Did he use that bargain? Indura?
1=20240315

S3E24
Weird start to the episode. Usually characters have these flashbacks after being gravely hurt, but perhaps before recovering for round 2. But when the previous episode ended, he already had the upperhand so it didn't seem fitting to start this episode on this note
Huh. They didn't exactly explain why they need vessels to begin with [A Reddit response said the following: "Because the Goddesses sacrificed their physical forms 3000 years ago..."; oh yeah, okay I vaguely remember Ludociel mentioning this to Margaret]
Smile. King and Diane vouch for Derieri
This episode has post-credit scene (Meliodas's soul in the demon world)
1=20240315

S4E01
I wonder if he'll have any powers as a result of this demon turning 168K, 173K
201K (Ludociel)
Is this creature that Ban has been fighting Meliodas?
1=20240320

S4E02
Meliodas compliments Ban and suggests Ban probably has had a power increase
1=20240320

S4E03
1=20240321

S4E04
1=20240321

S4E05
I watched the opening credits already, but forgot to note that there's a section that shows a series of characters in pairs (Meliodas/Elizabeth, Escanor/Merlin, [Glariza]/Gowther, King/Diane, Ban/Elaine)
Why does Ludociel keep his eyes close. Just aesthetics or for suppressing power...
That's a great plan by Derieri
What!?! Did the one archangel let go? [rewinding and watching... it seems so... like Mael was pleading to Tarmiel to let go]
1=20240322

S4E06
Mael with 4 commandments: 200K
Do they ever practice these combination techniques or does it just magically happen?
Oh no... Oslo sacrificed himself (and "revealed" himself as Rou to the fairy)
Hehe. Hawk points out why she hasn't used this convenient power before. Oh. But Diane gives a great reason
Wow. He breaks the curse and evolves
1=20240322

S4E07
Ah... we get to see why Mael was chosen (as he pointed out there are other strong persons); Mael destroyed someone Gowther loved
1=20240322

S4E08
Hmm... if Meliodas knew about the Demon King's power... why wouldn't he just have stopped Ban and Wild from attacking in the first place
I'm curious if the Demon Kng is absorbing... what if they gave him seomthing bad... Like their fears and sadness...
Oh this initial conversation is interesting... makes me wonder why the Demon King wants Meliodas to succeed him... (they just started fighting)
Huh. No longer immortal
1=20240322

S4E09
1=20240322

S4E10
Huh. So many of these characters are motivated by love
Hmm. Seems like they're celebrating too early... That can't exactly be the end.
1=20240322

S4E11
1=20240322

S4E12
I thought he transformed into this "Sighing Sage" object but it's a summon
Huh. Who is the mother if the Demon King is the father?
1=20240322

S4E13
Was the Demon King simply defeated or was he destroyed?
A new opening credits
Smile. "I don't understand why I'm crying"
Did Elizabeth lose her goddess powers? [I recall right in that scene she did not have goddess eyes, but later on she did]
Oh right... Can't stay... Huh
1=20240322

S4E14
Hehe. They are all peeing together. Gowther is there but he's not peeing.
Hah! "I'm going to the demon realm with Meliodas"
Huh. What just happened...
1=20240322

S4E15
1=20240322

S4E16
1=20240322

one of S4E15 or S4E16
hmm... how strange to get rid of half of what was your former self...
hehe and now Cusack is gone to..

S4E17
1b: Resume at the 14 minute mark
1b: Why is Diane hiding as well... is she not at the power level of Ban, King, and Escanor?
1b: Smile. "It's now high noon." 1a=20240322, 1b=20240324

S4E18
Kind of curious that they were the Seven Deadly Sins even before they had seven persons
Huh. In this flashback, Meliodas easily turns on his demon form
1=20240324

S4E19
Meliodas turns on his demon form in this attack alongside Escanor (as seen in the flashback)
1=20240324

S4E20
It's not announced but it's named "The Seven Deadly Sins Combo Move Nemesis"; I think the way it was done in the Prisoners of the Sky movie was more flashy
Hmm... what awaits?
Can't Mael's power bring Escanor's soul back?
Hmm. That's Merlin's way of saying she liked him too ("Too late. It's too late for anything now. We can't turn back time. Escanor, I wish you would have found me much sooner in life. Three thousand years sooner even."
I don't think he could die as they are the Seven Deadly Sins.
Wow. She goes in for the kiss
1=20240324

S4E21
1=20240330

S4E22
1=20240330

S4E23
for a follow up to the Demon King, which itself was underwhelming, well Cath and Arthur was also underwhelming. the battle seemed uninspired and lacked the flashiness one would expect from escalating battles.
1=20240405

S4E24
vaguely interesting prologue with a nice little montage via Gowther"s memory gift to Tristan and a sweet little ending with Tristan saying he wanted to be The Seven Deadly Sins.
1=20240405
