20120116:
While the ending was pretty good, I didn't like the movie as a whole - though I'm not sure why.

Uncas (Eric Schweig)

I like it better than The Last of the Mohicans (1920). Though I'm not sure it's fair to compare the two, because the 1920 version is a silent film, and was inherently harder to understand on the first viewing. In contrast, this film benefited from the fact that I first saw the 1920 version.

Hawkeye and Cora Munro (Madeleine Stowe)

Perhaps to compare them more fairly I'd have to watch them both a second time. However, I wouldn't watch either film again any time soon.

While I didn't like the movie as a whole, I loved its score.

Chingachgook (bottom) (Russell Meaans) and his son Uncas.
