20191008:
Today was my first time watching one of Dave Chappelle's comedy specials. From the style of the special, I got the feeling he was probably doing something different with it. In particular, he seemed to be using it as a platform to get various opinions across to the audience and eventual viewers. Personally, I don't mind this style, because sometimes comedy is purely for entertainment and sometimes comedy can be used as a powerful tool to make a point. Compared to other comedy specials I've seen, this one definitely hits or exceeds the average and so I'd recommend it to viewers who enjoy comedy specials - particularly those that address politically correct topics (e.g., Bill Burr's specials).
Netflix determined the special for me as a 98% match. I decided to give the special a thumbs up.
Instant Comments:
Trailer:
Morgan Freeman narrates.
Main:
Anthony Bourdain.
Law school friend.
Hahahaha. The point of the story.
Smile. The punchline to the second "impression"
Haha. Makes the best out of the Michael Jackson controversy.
Hahaha. Punchline to McCaulay Caulkin. (Home ALone)
"My Mind's telling me 'No'" [lyrics to "Bump n' Grind" by R. Kelly]
Haha. "He's like the DJ Khalid of sex tapes. 'Another one.'"
Hmm. Interesting story. He asks why he can say the N-word, but not f****t. "Well Renee. I'm not a n***a either."
Hahaha. "They just travel in the same car together."
Hahaha. No restroom for the T.
Hahahaha. Haha. Funny but logically true. "But this is how I feel inside."
Ha. Training the shooter.
Hmm. He mentioned skipping school and doing drugs. I wonder if all the rules on that type of stuff have made it harder to deal with school.
Haha. "That won't kill a man."
He ties up several jokes at the end.
Credits:
Many photos are shown. Some with just Chappelle but many are Chappelle with other celebrities.
Epilogue: The Punchline
Chappelle answers the book question with Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass by Frederick Douglass.
Ooo. "And then I realized, Daphne used to be a man."
"I got your message."
