Tale of Tales (2015)

20180905:
Ada said she doesn't like this movie. She wasn't sure why. I also didn't like this movie. Telling three separate stories (and only briefly connecting them at the end), the movie is less story-driven and more character-driven. In my experience, I tend not to enjoy character-driven movies - at least not on a first viewing. In particular, I thought the stories were half thought-out and could have been intertwined to fuller satisfaction or left separated and strung together with a narrator or story-teller.

Overall, I didn't like the movie, but perhaps I didn't understand it. Of course, apparently I'm not alone on my negative opinion of the movie: the film has a 56% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes (6163 user ratings). On the other hand, it also has an 83% tomatometer (104 critic reviews).

Netflix determined the movie for me as a 74% match. I decided to give the movie a thumbs down.

Instant Comments:
why did he go after the monster and if anything why by himself.
Disgusting.
Ada asked how come it's still bloody.
Huh.
They both gave birth.
Threesome.
"Here is the husband that you chose for me."
At the end Ada said "I don't feel the climax of that." Yeah. Anticlimactic.
