X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009)

Overview: The origin story for X-Men character Wolverine. James Howlett learns he's a mutant with a half-brother Victor. Upon joining a team led by Stryker, James goes by the alias Logan (his birth father's surname). Eventually, Logan gets his adamantium claws and takes on the name Wolverine.

Wolverine (Hugh Jackman)

20110211:
This movie was pretty good. There were a couple of situations which didn't seem reasonable. For example, why did Gambit interrupt the fight between Wolverine and Sabretooth?

The movie had great action. There's something about the character Wolverine: he's mysterious, he's an anti-hero, and he has a complex personality.

James Howlett and Victor Creed (Liev Schreiber)

With that being said, I didn't completely like the story. I thought the beginning, when he was a kid, could have been done better.

Overall, I liked the movie about as much as I liked The Incredible Hulk. If I correctly remember X-Men (2000), then this movie wasn't as good as that one. I don't remember enough about the sequels to compare them.

Stryker (Danny Houston)

20220113:
The movie started with a boy named James learning he has bone claws and that he shares a father with Victor. Then there's a montage of them fighting in different wars and his brother is bloodthirsty. One thing leads to another, and they find themselves recruited by Stryker, in a team that includes Wade Johnson (prior to being Deadpool). But Logan leaves the group and has a life with a Kayla Silverfox, who is eventually shown to have some sort of power related to changing a person's mind (like the Jedi mind trick).

Along the story, Logan (the alias assumed by James) get adamantium infused into his body, he encounters Gambit while looking for Stryker, and Victor take Scott Summers for Stryker.

John Wraith (will.i.am), Fred Dukes (Kevin Durand), Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds), Stryker, Logan, and Bradley (Dominic Monaghan)

Other significant events in the film include Stryker talking about his son, the creation of Deadpool, and Professor X showing up to rescue the children.

Prior to rewatching the film, I remembered Wolverine fighting Deadpool, but not much else about the movie. In particular, I didn't remember much about the ending.

I would have guessed Wolverine would have cut Stryker's legs off. Kayla makes him walk until he bleeds and more. But somehow in the pre-credits he's interrupted and stops.

Credits:
1: There's a scene after the credits roll that shows Deadpool retrieving his head.
2: Post-credits: Wade is alive

Special Features: Wolverine Unleased: The Complete Origins
1: It talked about various aspects about coming up with the movie and what went into the movie. Like creating a deeper, darker Wolverine. Hugh Jackman putting in such and such time for the role. His bone claws. Things like that.
