20250603:
After watching the movie, I immediately went to look up what it meant. The main theme mentioned is about the retalitation of nature. Reading this, I figured that makes sense. There was an explicit mention by the ornithologist. She said birds are kind and it's humans who have invaded their space.
Then, afterwards, I watched a teaser (or what seemed like what would be a teaser in the 1960s) where Alfred Hitchock begins with some facts about how humans have used birds for decoration (feathers / whole) and food. There is some humor in the teaser, but also an implication that what humans have been doing is wrong. The movie ends with his finger being bitten by a bird in a cage and then Melanie comes through the door shouting "They're coming!"
I like conversations and story, but the ending was too abstract for me. Perhaps I'm so accustomed to modern movies which spell so much out.

Instant Comments:
1a: hehe teasing her. he knew she was lying as he continued to test her. funny is she didn't catch on that he knew
1a: is this really how it was back then? you can just ask whatever you want and people freely giving information out about others
1a: what a strange woman. she's flirting with him? perhaps the Hayworth woman has similarly been involved with Mitch, i.e., she seemed to have hinted as much earlier
1a: paused at 25 minute mark
1a: while resuming the movie, it occurs to me from the movie's description this is an Alfred Hitchcock movie
1b: love how the bleeding continues. I would have probably wiped the wound with a handkerchief
1b: hehe the interaction between the mother and the woman
1b: It's interesting how he uses terms of endearment with his mother: "Dear" "Darling"
1b: haha. quite a fun conversation between the two. he did handle it quite well. in particular, he sees through her lies and got her to open up quite a bit
1b: wow. you just don't get gravity like that in movies nowadays... not that I can remember. At least rarely. Though to be fair there is survival bias ("But it isn't dark out Annie, it's a full moon." Annie looks over at her and the scene fades away)
1b: Yikes. I expected he'd be dead but that's rather gruesome. Also interesting is that she didn't scream. She just ran out in shock. And she didn't even tell the workhand
1b: I feel like there is a subtle suspense for me in that leaving the mother to check on Cathy exposes the mother to potential harm. However, then logically I figure the mother is an important figure that helps develop the story. So she probably wouldn't die, at least perhaps not until some closure occurs between her and Melanie
1b: the crow in the background
1b: more crows...
1b: hehe more crows
1b: whoa. that's well done. she tracks the one crow and it lands and now we see the playground is crowded with them. very stark number imagery
1b: manual rollup windows. I remember those. from what I recall, as a passenger, I don't mind so much, but the convenience of using electronic buttons from the driver seat to control the other windows definitely is a convenience
1b: conversations feel very organic. with the waitress yelling out something and interrupting the old woman. it's still fictional in the realm of movies, but it feels more organic
1b: oh no the gasoline
1b: huh. this woman is hysterical. like Salem Witch trials type hysteria. clearly Melanie can't be the cause. like birds aren't going crazy in her presence. She was living her whole life elsewhere without crazy birds. if anything from her point of view, she would believe it's all the fault of Bodega Bay
1b: oh no. not Annie Hayworth. though why would she have gone outside to begin with? perhaps she was escorting Cathy home and got attacked before she herself could get inside. the thing is she doesn't look so attacked as to be dead
1b: interesting. the mother's intuition is to go towards the wall. I suppose that makes sense as then your assumption is whatever is attacking is in front of you. but I suppose I would choose a different wall, internal to the house, as opposed to one that's near a window, which would be the assumed source of the birds
1b: okay. now they moved to the bookcase.
1b: that mirror is so thin. it would just tip over
1b: oh nice. he came back to nail it to the door
1b: though were houses made of anythign different then? how would they peck through the door but not the walls of the house?
1b: the lovebirds?
1b: hmm they seem fine
1b: yikes. what's gonna happen. caption refers to the sound as "soft fluttering"
1b: don't open the door
1b: why would she do that?
1b: but I feel worse is her failure to open the door
1b: seems silly. not sure like... from a story point of view... what's the point
1b: she looks already dead
1b: I suppose one interesting thing is no one has guns and is shooting the birds. and here like he carefully moves his car up as opposed to like squashing a couple
1b: also interesting is how during this scene some birds grab at him even though this is like the non-aggressive phase
1b: hehe the lovebirds... my goodness. how will this movie end
1b: that's a touching moment. Melanie in the arms of Mitch's mother. as she earlier spoke of not knowing a mother's love as her own mother left when she was young
1b: wow. that's it. gripping

Resident Evil: Retribution (2012)
20250603 Comment:
This movie had some good action, but I think the escape felt somehow impossible and yet it happened. Somehow the Red Queen had all this ability to track the intruders and escapers but the ability for the Umbrella employees to locate them took what seemed forever. I'm also curious what limits the creation of the super zombies other than what's convenient for the movie.
Rating: 3.0/5

huh. that was quite unexpected. she wakes up. things seem super normal. and then a zombie comes in. what is perhaps more strange is how he reacted.
Michelle Rodriguez [Rain]
lol. maybe don't keep the windows down?
oh wow. is Michelle Rodriguez [Rain] dead? was this just a cameo?
ah ok. she's still ok. but what exactly do the zombies seek out if they just pass by the car
so it's just a dream?
kind of random to have clothes in a prisoner area; though at least there aren't weapons so I guess maybe these are what prisoner clothes look like at a Umbrella facility?
I love that she keeps the bike chain for a melee weapon
trippy. sweep the corridor with the laser grid and the door opens to the outside world. but they spent all that time interrogating her, and they were gonna slice her with a laser grid?
whoa "Tokyo sequence initialized"
are they all zombies?
pretty good choreography
aww... why did she throw the bike chain away
hehe the uniform/drawer contained platform shoes (at least practical relative to high heels)
Ada Wong in her standard wear. Interestingly I barely have played Resident Evil 4
huh. Leon
he looks kind of weird, but he's wearing his classic brown jacket
hmm. question. what's the point in amassing money if the whole world is in shit. in particular, I feel like creating an antidote wuold have been equally profitable. if not more. and smarter too
ah. what we saw earlier was this simulation
oh. a clone of Alice (ah so earlier it was a clone of Michelle Rodriguez's character [Rain]; which I guess thinking back she died in the first movie... I think she had been bitten partway through anyways so at some point she sacrificed herself?)
since everything was as we witnessed earlier, it means the area has not been reset. so the little girl will be alive?
and Michelle Rodriguez gets to be back! along with other former team members
while this kid is just a clone, she is nevertheless a person... so I think it's reasonable for Alice not to abandon her. like sure if she died along the way, then it is what it is...
sometimes the characters, hehe I mean actors, look funny as they're just kind of standing there. here Jill. and earlier at the opening the way Alice was standing. just kind of hehe non-superhero. which like is the meme in that Black Widow movie
hehe the uniform has nipples ("they're coming, we have to hurry. go")
ah. the other Michelle Rodriguez [Rain] clone. she's wearing heels. I feel like in such a survival situation, she should have found shoes to switch out to.
whoa. would it even make sense to shoot this beast of a thing?
I guess we don't really hear Leon speak in RE4. So perhaps hearing him talk here. he sounds cheesy. the way he said "She always hasa plan"
hehe Leon said he wouldn't have risked so much for one person. that's good. a lot of times these groups saving just one person doesn't seem reasonable
ah. how sad. she's dead already (the civilian Michelle Rodriguez [Rain] clone)
why would that big monster go for that one little girl and just stop there. do all zombies just want to eat? it seems like... why do these other zombies have an incentive to shoot their targets? are they just trying to spread the virus? doesn't the host have to be alive for success? oh well haha. I guess somehow the virus reanimates the dead. I still feel like I'm heading to a major weirdness in how zombies even work. let's just take it back to the main question. why did the big zombie come all that way hunting just to grab a single little girl when it could have (assuming it's goal is to spread a virus) just kill and contaminate everybody in the area
what!?! she managed to kill that big monster so easily
epic final shot
dang. that's a lot of clones.
okay. I feel like Ada Wong has to survive. But if she survives, the so can Jill. And I imagine other zombies as well.
of course. one of the subs. but in reality how did the get to a sub in time from their position
eww. bullets out the fingertips.
I feel like if you threw out the axe like that, you would track where it went for later
huh. looks like Jill released her weapon, it didn't look like she got disengaged. but it would be weird to release the weapon without a reason like landing a blow
hehe. really? just had to rip off the device?
holy cow. what a way to die
Jill had this device whose claws were in her chest but it doesn't seem like she has any wound marks
hehe awkward. he grabs her thigh
hehe she takes his hand off
weird. Jill gets blocked at the door and immediately turns around to look at a computer
this portrayal of Wesker seems like a cheap copy of Agent Smith
where does one go from here? somehow destroy several nations worth of zombies?

That was a cool shot. It hits the lid of the one, which closes, and bounces into the other.
Ha. Is that for real? If so then I didn't know (kid makes a remark about Rihanna's song "Umbrella") [okay so I listened to the song and I don't think his comment is true; funny though]
interesting they knew all about the details of their stash
haha! [both] "People say that?" smile. nice diss.
hehe "I love stick"
hehe "light side of the raw"
hahaha. big smile. "what'd you think?" "yeah"
ha! the man is actually dressed as a bear (the expectation is that it was just a codename of some sort)
ha. "that has got to be the worst thing anyone has ever said to me"
smile. a little extended bit about Game of Thrones
I don't understand the relevance of the 20 to 30 yards
hahahaha. "I twisted the bag too many times"
hahaha. the hand
"you sucked my arm off"
hehe the philoshicalness of "your arm"
wait. where's the hand. I thought he said he would get it
aww... well done. when her daddy showed up it tugged at my emotions. I felt the tears rush to my eyes. I felt the feeling funny because I was half expecting him to come
aww. people join in.
as more people join. I get more emotional
wow. returned it. I didn't see that coming (though I would have thought he kept just a little of it) (I suppose it is fitting with #10 on the list)
it's what's her name... [Hilary Swank]
hmm. his forearm/hand was in the delivered package?
hehehe. chuckle. "We don't have an escape problem at Monroe" (references how he says this for other problems at Monroe)
"I hate airtight alibis"
hehe. no cellphone
whoa. it's revealed he has a new, high-tech arm
wait I'm confused. how did he get insurance for money lost if the money was recovered?
oh wow. the FBI kept the phone on so they could track him. and as long as that was the case, he couldn't go get the money
hehe. she could just listen in on them talking about; is that her intention or just hanging out? [after doing some reading, I guess she is trying to break the case, which would be apt to the Logan family curse and a sequel; apparently the director had done the Ocean's Eleven series and there was even a reference to the title. That could be just for fun, but it does give a possibility for a sequel to the same pattern (I recall the sequel was some sort of backlash on the first movie where they had to pay the money back; or maybe that was the third film in the series)][but apparently there won't be a sequel though because the first movie didn't do well at the box office (technically a prequel was planned but canceled]

The Wild Robot (2024)
20250529:
This movie had a slow start, but ramped up and had a great ending.
I initially had planned for the kids to watch for only half an hour, but I, myself, couldn't stop watching so we ended up finishing the movie.
While I think there are some minor plotholes, the overarching story is lovable and sufficient to suspend disbelief.

I was a little confused. I thought she was hesitant to shoot the kid but she just didn't want to shoot the target in front of the kid
Hmm. I guess 50% chance ti's the handler that is the root of the problem
I thought she was gonna ask for a gun, but she ask for her favorite soda
Hmm. Why not... if her mark now is Kijima, why that could not have been the mark before
She put together a makeshift silencer? Couldn't she just have gotten a real gun from her handler?
wow that's quite a finisher
hmm. she calls V. this moment would up my guess from 50% to 80% that he is working for Kijima, directly linked to poisoning Kate, and from her calling him here, he would tip Kijima off. at least that's a common trope
"Gaijin (外人, [ɡai(d)ʑiɴ]; 'outsider, alien') is a Japanese word for foreigners and non-Japanese citizens in Japan, specifically being applied to foreigners of non-Japanese ethnicity and those from the Japanese diaspora who are not Japanese citizens"; that's why earlier someone called her a half
"death is the time for beginnings"
I don't think she actually shot him
hmm. not sure how they synchronized with Ani or planned that. but that has to be faked somehow
I'm surprised Varrick is talking about this right in front of Ani? That's kind of weird
hehe. smile. "Boom Boom Lemon?"

Amy Schumer: The Leather Special (2017)
20250526:
For the bulk of the special, Amy Schumer focuses on the themes of sex, body image, and differences between men and women. In theory this would make for great material, but I found there was not enough variety in the bits. My perception is sometimes she dwindled too long on certain jokes, extending them beyond their utility. Overall, I would rate the special below average: 1.8 out of 5.

20250525:
I really enjoyed this entry in the franchise. A step above the others.
Rating: 4.6/5

Damn. That rip apart
Hehe. Godzilla may be helping to fight these creatures. But buildings and massive destruction takes place...
Hehe. taking a nap in the Colosseum
Jia? Is that the daughter from the other movie? [yes]
Hehe. Dentistry for... [300 foot ape]
The caption says "mini-kong shudders"
Hehe. How awkward. Find what would be potentially someone you recognize as family but then have to fight them
Well he didn't listen. pretty clear
hehe. sneaky little Titan bringing him to the lake
Godzilla made easy work of Tiamat
Ah Bernie knew "telepathically" (for once I'm glad they spelled it out... well I'm sure I would have guessed eventually)
oh interesting. the tail wrapped around him wasn't just for looks. it's his weapon of choice
was a mothra an ally of Godzilla in another movie? [yes: Godzilla: King of the Monsters]
Hehe. Kong trying to communicate with Godzilla
That Kong sort of can make some trades with Godzilla is amazing. Considering how easily Godzilla takes down some other Titans
That's epic. Though I feel sorry for the ice Titan. It's just being controlled.
hehe Mini Kong in the surface world doesn't look so small

Damn. That rip apart
Hehe. Godzilla may be helping to fight these creatures. But buildings and massive destruction takes place...
Hehe. taking a nap in the Colosseum
Jia? Is that the daughter from the other movie? [yes]
Hehe. Dentistry for... [300 foot ape]
The caption says "mini-kong shudders"
Hehe. How awkward. Find what would be potentially someone you recognize as family but then have to fight them
Well he didn't listen. pretty clear
hehe. sneaky little Titan bringing him to the lake
Godzilla made easy work of Tiamat
Ah Bernie knew "telepathically" (for once I'm glad they spelled it out... well I'm sure I would have guessed eventually)
oh interesting. the tail wrapped around him wasn't just for looks. it's his weapon of choice
was a mothra an ally of Godzilla in another movie? [yes: Godzilla: King of the Monsters]
Hehe. Kong trying to communicate with Godzilla
That Kong sort of can make some trades with Godzilla is amazing. Considering how easily Godzilla takes down some other Titans
That's epic. Though I feel sorry for the ice Titan. It's just being controlled.
hehe Mini Kong in the surface world doesn't look so small
hehe. I mean I assumed as much would be Jia's decision

Legend of the Fist: The Return of Chen Zhen (2010)
20250520:
Overall, a couple good scenes and story but kind of loosely tied together under a theme and just fictional story. I would say for a fictional story, it should have been more exaggerated (I'm thinking John Wick type of exaggeration). I think Donnie Yen's Ip Man series was much more exciting. This movie is closer to a 3.6. Where as the first Ip Man was peak, perhaps 5.0, and declining from there down to 4.0. In which case, maybe this film has to be more a 3.2 or 3.4.
Rating: 3.2/5
Instant Comments:
1a: the scene where he almost singlehandedly takes down a tower of german soldiers was way over the top. unbelievable...
1a: stopped watching when he was shown removing his mustache, after a meeting he had with some people showing some desire to get allies with Master Liu.
1b: resumed at 20 min mark
1b: masked warrior. quite a look. Jet Li had a movie Mask, I recall. hmm i thought. any connection? [Jet Li did star in a movie Black Mask 1996, but it has no connection to Zhen Chen. however Jet Li was Zhen Chen in 1994 Fist of Legend which is apparently a remake of 1972 Fist of Fury starring Bruce Lee, apparently Yen himself also played in a tv series Fist of Fury 1995][20250603: this movie is actually a sequel to Fist of Legend (1994)]
1b: quite a date. it's vlear he's been watching her. but who got more information onnthe date. was she really drunk at all when she pulled the gun? but very nice he turned the question on her. who are you? she provides her real name but of course her real name isnt Kiki so that really doesnt say much
1b: Im gonna guess the protagonist kicks the table (initiating the fight) before the coin falls
1b: these swift fights are satisfying. not drawn out choreography. I think it fits the mood. at least for this second in command guy
1b: does he wear gloves. wouldnt his fists be bruised from fightnig. or what about any possible face shots taken. maybe he's that good
1b: hehe neat execution of him scanning his memories of observation
1b: hehe that's one way to breakup with someone "dont ever come back. or I'll have to kill you"
1b: whoa. "you and you" bang bang. "I still have chips"
1b: hehe break his junk
1b: while in theory they could take him as a group, I wouldnt understand the ego / bravery / stupidity to fight him 1 on 1. like... seeing other people of your skill level lose so brutally... just like think how smart it would be to back off?
1b: smile. okay now a bunch of these persons have fear and back off
1b: I thought the reason he let Zhen Chen go was to fight him 1v1 fairly. and now he just watches as Zhen Chen is weakened in a multiman attack. loke even if he did beat Zhen Chen later. like what kind of conversation would that be. yeah I beat that guy after my men weakened him...
1b: though switching gears, I dont like the execution here because they dont really show much of anything. it's implied somehow he skillfully used the nunchunk to fend off all the attackers... but that was offscreen, weird since what they last showed onscreen he seemed beat

hehe he's reading a room of your own contrasting with gnome entering his room
hehe the new cop points out all the flaws
i think the messages strung together was something funny but I didnt catch it
hehe password figured out
Mia calls the gnomes "Santa Claus"
"time to release the gnomes"

that a reference to 007?
Mia says "a seal, awww, I want to pet the seal"

oh han and chewie were in a diffeent place
what I don't remember is where he gets his lightsaber. also I assume its a new one since
what? that's how Boba Fett dies?
in the lifetime of Jabba the Hutt... this is how Jabba dies? by Leia strangling him?
hahaha. when 900 years old you reach, look not so good ...
"Luke, there is another Skywalk..."
Yoda disappears much like Obi Wan
why did Obiwan speak to Luke when Yoda could have ghost force talk to Luke? (maybe it takes time after passing)
hug. ObiWan lets on that Luke has a twin sister and Luke intuits it is Leia.
Ackbar!
smile "I wonder who they found to pull that off?"
i don't think i ever saw this episode and thought how amazing it was leia is riding the speedbjke. I suppose if a stormtrooper can do it... all those trees seems super sketch to use sich a vehicle
technically she could have equally been someone who did want to hurt the Ewok. but perhaps theres a difference in demeanor between a person who means well huh. I was thinking exactly. why didnt Emperor detect Luke while Vader did ("strange that I have not")
haha Chewie fell for the trap
hehe R2 cutting them free without warning
hehe. it would be great to have the full tellong of the story like this from C-3P0.
"I know. Somehow I've always known"
its interesting that despite Yoda's words, Luke believes he can turn his father back frlm the dark side. at least ai would have taken yoda literally about destiny and never coming back from dark. with that being said, Luke said he sensed good in his fafher
ah true. the previous light saber was hus fathers
chuckle. it's a trap
why is it that droids can bypass security systems. seems not secure
oh wow. I was thinking someone should shoot the droid instead of like Han and it happened.
hehe callback to earlier. "I Love You" "I know"
I asked why Luke is able to beat Vader who has more battle experience. I asked online and AI response said because Luke has Light Side balanced understanding of the force, which is actually more powerful than Dark Side. but in watching this scene, also the conflict in his father is apparently a big hold back. basically a lack of intent
Ben said, maybe Luke will cut Vader's hand off as Luke is aggressively attacking. I didn't believe it in my head but it happened! It's possible he read it or saw it already?
wow seeing the hand saved him he was on the edge of turning by using anger
I would think the lightning in actuallity would just contract all muscles but perhaps contraction in waves could be like how he was acting?
I can't remember this track name. but same track as the death star run
hiw can Anakin show up as force ghost. he was never taught how [in the RotJ novelization, Obiwan shows up to teach him][but a different answer says the whole teaching business wasn't until the prequels. in OT, it was just what happens to Obiwan and Yoda without explanation]
Jar Jar Binks species [Gungan] is on the tower as part of the celebration. was thay always there or added in [answer: added in]
Ewoks dancing
my son was confused who the third force ghost was. yeah... I think they should have kept the old version of Anakin [i.e., Sebastian Shaw]. after all, he revealed his face, so that is the face of good Anakin as opposed to Darth Vader [Lucas replaced it with Hayden Christensen for the 2004 DVD release)

haha! "Afraid I was gonna leave without giving you a goodbye kiss?" "I'd just as soon kiss a Wookiee." "I can arrange that. You could use a good kiss." I wonder how Han will find Luke in this storm. Unless with possibly the Force

huh I wonder if the banta falling... the way it fell looked like claymation
hahaha "Who's scruffy looking?"
smile. she kisses Luke to make Han jealous. (my son said he does not like to see this part) Luke takes it in. I wonder what they'll think about this kiss when they find out they're siblings
he says "it must have had a self-destruct" (these types of droids are found in... uh... that one adventure game. after you destroy them they also self-destruct)
hehe that one Admiral... what will the look on his face be when he realizes he's wrong?
I wasn't paying attention but apparently the Admiral jumped out of lightspeed too close to the system resulting in losing the element of surprise
hehe Darth Vader force jokes the Admiral, kills him, and promotes the other guy
That AT had perfect aim destroying that Rebel vehicle
Mia says "R2-D2 in the back," "beep-boop," and "R2-D2 is behind the ship."
"Never tell me the odds."
When the monster pulls R2-D2 down, after a moment, Mia calls out "R2-D2! Where's R2-D2?"

Venom: The Last Dance (2024)
20250430:
Rating: 4.2/5
Instant Comments:
The movie opens with them in another universe. The Marvel universe that we've been following where the Thanos snap happened. But they get sucked out and Venom symbiote says they're back to their universe. I think cause Venom was a spoiler at the end of the third Spider-Man movie
This drink mixing is just over the top
hmm... "The darkness has teeth" he said
Hehe "Told you we could fly"
Smile. "how does Tom Cruise do this?" "He doesn't whine like a little bitch"
Smile. "Good thing we haven't died." "Except that one time."
hehe horsepower
hmm... I'm curious if this female scientist would eventually bond with one of the symbiotes. there's so many symbiotes with none of them active to defend themselves. though I guess technically Venom symbiote said it's only after the codex. though... kind of a strange twist that they lock some dude up and the mechanism to unlock is via their death; Venom symbiote knew that resurrecting Brock would create the codex, (well I didn't see the other movie) but needs Brock to survive?
love how they animate Venom symbiote in the water
hehe fish + Venom symbiote. frog + Venom symbiote.
"can't let you die." interesting. Venom symbiote cares a lot about Eddie. Perhaps he really appreciates their synergy [I later was reading a thread where someone thought there was a plothole. reading some comments made me realize that symbiotes have to be compatible with their host to stay, otherwise eventually the host rejects the symbiote when bonded for too long, potentially killing the host. as such, since Venom symbiote is compatible with Eddie, he desires to preserve Eddie's life
not sure. he is mad that he lost three people, but its technically his fault. not sure why he is hunting Venom to begin with
hehe blood mist. yeah that was really cool effect. each enemy the monster consumed
chuckle. "he's so beautiful"
I feel like there must be another way. If it were as simple as one of them dying, then perhaps the Venom symbiote or Brock would make such a sacrifice.
hehe. "lifetime of therapy"
He says "We" in a sentence he's talking to Martin
hehe "This is my jam"
Nierika.
chuckle. "I'm glad we didn't eat this fine family"
hehe. "No reject them Worse than Crocs."
interesting. they're like opposites in so many ways. Venom symbiote likes chocolate, singing, musicals, and Brock doesn't like any of those.
Rain Man
huh. I didn't watch the previous movies but apparently this Mrs. Chen knows he has a symbiote
haha dance sequence love it
"When did you two practice this?" (smile. it is well synchronized)
huh. how did the monster know to follow the plane?
"He's deteriorating without his host"
I still don't understand why they needed to separate the Venom symbiote from Eddie; but also according to the codex plan, why they didn't just immediately kill Brock
ooo. Nice move (on the part of the scientist!)
hehe the other symbiote broke out no problem. all this time it could have done this
oh no.
huh the one symbiote bonded with a person, but then saw the other symbiote and ran in to be consumed but double head
wait what. he fired at both the alien and the symbiote who was clearly helping
"He was trying to protect you! We are not the bad guys!" You tell him.
Damn that monster has a sonic sound that disrupts the symbiotes. Though why wouldn't it just use that more
this chase scene with Brock on a bike and Venom using tentacles / tendrils to do stuff is cool
chuckle. "i'm sorry. I'm so sorry" (very brave of him to return to help)
no her symbiote
how is this movie gonna end. It almost seems implied someone wants to sacrifice himself.
huh. holy crap. what is happening? he's able to consume them?
she finally pops the vial on the symbiote. though interesting such a small vial was able to combine so fully. and almost lucky that it had super speed
I would say... cause early in the film, there was something about viral shedding. So a small piece of Venom symbiote would be in a vial and could return to Eddie. that's my guess what would happen. but oddly then the codex would be alive. unless... like the small fragment counts as a different iteration of Venom symbiote
the thing is... Eddie seemed at times miserable to be stuck with Venom symbiote but he was also sad to part with it
credits starting with 16 minutes left. there's gotta be something after credits...
various symbiosis with other animals are depicted. trutle, penguin, whale, alligator. very cool looking
scene before the credits roll. Knull says something and we see his face. What I don't understand is that I thought Venom symbiote's sacrifice was expressedly aimed at preventing Knull to obtain the codex and be released
hmm. the focus on the bartender seems weird. it's not like funny or informative. they should have not needed that and just pan at the destruction and pan out to the vial / cockroach
well, I suppose the bartender is to remind the viewer of the moment in the bar where a portion of Venom symbiote was captured; whereas the cockroach is a callback to the scientist stating that a cockroach could survive a catastrophe
what is not shown however is the cockroach being bonded with a symbiote so I don't think that's the point of the end credits. I would just assume the vial is broken and therefore the symbiote that was in the vial has begun its journey to look for a host.
I suppose... the explanation for why the bartender is alive and also for his screaming, is that the symbiote in the vial bonded with him. the juxtaposition being that roaches would survive such an acid bath explosion but not humans - though Eddie was literally right there so... I'm not sure my theory works out
I would note that some people think made remarks about the cockroach having symbiote but I don't think that would be the case. the cockroach in the scene is shown approaching the vial which is already broken. the vial already being broken suggests that the symbiote inside it has already gone somewhere before that particular cockroach we see approached it. so most likely the symbiote has combined with say a different cockcoach or the bartender, but certainly not the cockroach we see. again the cockroach is mainly just a callback to the statistic earlier in the movie and convey survival. so we definitely should infer that a fragment of Venom symbiote has survived.

Rambo (2008)
20250428:
When I was starting this film, I actually thought it was the first movie. However, I quickly realized it was not the first movie and learned that it was the fourth movie in the franchise.
Overall it wasn't a perfect action film, but I enjoyed it well enough. Also, I wasn't expecting a short movie, but I kind of find the shorter length refreshing.
Rating: 4.4/5

oh ok. how interesting. this movie is 2008. Fourth movie in Rambo franchise. And the first movie is actually called First Blood.
"Who are you!? They would have raped her 50 times and cut your fucking heads off. Who are you? Who are any of you?" Nice. how naive of that guy to complain about Rambo saving them from death. would he really have preferred dying than having the pirates killed?
what she says after sounds kind of cheesy
dipshit. "I'll have to report this..."
wow this attack on the village is so violent. I don't remember seeing even this much violence in a war movie
hehe. that's a funny response "she's into retards"
this guy talks so much. and he's talking to Rambo who looks tough as shit... like... what does he care about who hires him. he's a mercenary so he either takes the job or leave it
also, he said he could swim faster than the rate of the boat, but he surely couldn't swim the distance
huh. he took one breathe of the cigarette and threw it. why
damn. they have to run back even though they made it across?
"Live for nothing or die for something."
ooo. I like the flute as he runs across in the background
chuckle chuckle. "God didn't save your life, we did. Now fucking get up."
wow. that's quite a way to kill someone (he like ripped off the guy's neck)
wow. those sniper shots
they raid villages... is retrieving some missing prisoners really so important?
doesn't seem to have any weapons on him. probalby has his machete. not his bow? just running with the claymore. what happens after he blows up the ben following him.
oh shit. right next to the old bomb. no wonder he hightailed it out of there
ooo. clean kill with the machete
crazy gruesome kills with the mounted turret [Browning M2 Aircraft: "The Browning M2 Aircraft is a heavy machine gun chambered for the .50 BMG cartridge" (https://rambo.fandom.com/wiki/Browning_M2_Aircraft)]
I'm super curious what she thinks of her principals after this... after all he did tell her to go home. does she feel her try to save was worth it?
wow. this person, one of the missionaries, went for knocking this enemy dead
ah. the guide went to get the rebels
what kind of gun is he using. it pierces and does so much damage
oh ho ho ho. my goodness. he slices the machete coming out the side
oh I see. I guess there's some change in helping the rebels defeat the enemies

Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977)
20250425:
Ben has brought home from his school libraries some short stories pertaining to Star Wars specifically the first and second movies. There was one page in particular where Obi-Wan disappears and it was hard to explain it to him. He's also taken a fancy to the idea of light sabers. As such, I decided I would soon show him the movie.

hehe C-3PO says R2-D2 tricked him into coming
C-3PO doesn't make any attempt to bring R2-D2 until the red unit broke down...
Obi-Wan says he never owned a droid, but in the prequels he would have at least known of R2D2 [Initial portion of Google AI Overview response: "The idea that Obi-Wan Kenobi forgets R2-D2 in "A New Hope" is often discussed, but it's not a case of a retcon. Rather, it's a creative interpretation of a line Obi-Wan says to Luke: "I don't remember owning a droid.". While it's true Obi-Wan never owned R2-D2, this line can be interpreted as a playful lie by omission, especially given Alec Guinness's smirk when delivering it.]
hehe Obi-Wan just straight up tells Luke that his father and him were Jedi Knights and Luke doesn't really bat an eye to the statement
"Only Imperial stormtroopers are so precise"
hehe the Kessel run in 12 parsecs [the route is traditionally a distance of 20 parsecs]
Han explains jumping to lightspeed isn't easy (I believe this was trivialized in the newer trilogy)
oh wow. Obi-Wan felt the destruction of Alderaan
He blocked all three fires and Han calls it as luck... If it was one that is luck, if it were two then that could be real lucky, but three...
jeez. How long would it really have taken to build such a structure? ["In the Star Wars universe, the first Death Star took approximately 20 years to build, while the second, which was larger, was completed in only 4 years. However, the initial planning and early stages of research and development for the first Death Star began much earlier, potentially decades before its completion"]
"Either I'm going to kill her or I'm beginning to like her."
Hehe can't believe C-3PO's response worked
Hahaha. I love that. "Listen to them, they're dying C-3PO"
why would Luke have rope in his utility belt. Actually why does he have a utility belt at all
"Run Luke Run" - Obi-Wan after he disappeared in the voice
ah that's what I thought. Early in the film he mentions Biggs and someone else already went to the academy a year before. And here he reunites with his friend.
why do the rebels fly with droid units and not the imperial?

Having seen and enjoyed the WaterWorld show at Universal Studios, I thought it would be reasonable to watch this movie. While there were some exciting parts, the sets, some of the themes, and some core relationships, I ultimately thought the film failed to deliver a believable and engaging plot. I think in a more traditional action movie fashion, there should have been a mechanism for which the protagnist, The Mariner, to take down the enemy in a way that leverages his abilities and skill set.

Awakenings (1990)
20250423:
I saw the preview for this movie the other day and decided to add it to My List. Opening up My List today, it was the top choice and I went for it.
Instant Comments:
hmm she seems to have stopped where the checkered floor stops
I didn't notice until this scene (he's recording Leonard with camera) that Leonard is actor Robert DeNiro
smile. purple haze
nurse says the other person borrowed her will
interesting. he hypothesizes that their symptoms are an extreme case of Parkinson's
hehe. he turned the phrase around "let the chemist do the damage, doctor"
hehe. "All. Some. One."
that would easily count as malpractice but I suppose he figured it was worth the risk especially considering there was little to lose. the person is either effectively dead so the opportunity to gain consciously seems to be high reward
must be similar to my kids not wanting to sleep. well not similar but not too far off. afraid to close eyes cause you don't know if you'll get to wake up
hehe pollution
hehe "it's a fucking miracle"
hehe. there was initially thought of a bright side to awakening all these patients but here comes the downsides (the one man mentions a list of why he's not happy)
hehe they cover their chests (or maybe pens) as they pass by Waheedah
hehe good response to her remark
hehe "we can't allow it" "he's alright"
"you're the one that's asleep"
he didn't pick up his glasses
oh no... is Leonard gonna get cut?
wow. "Learn from me"
aww... "I won't see you anymore. I just want to say good-bye"
I got a little teary eyed there as she pulled him in for the dance (though I kind of broke the tesnion as I took notes)
a tear or two fell as he watched at the window and then walked away
oh interesting. based on a true story

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (2023)
20250421:
I decided to watch this movie, which was second on "My List"; I wasn't feeling like watching the first on the list: Kraven the Hunter. Having watched the movie, I was surprised about how good it was. It had many exciting action scenes, a great story, and a healthy amount of jokes. There may have been a couple of cringe jokes, but most were well done. I've only ever participated in a Dungeons & Dragons session once back in high school. I don't think my lack of familiarity with the role playing game impacted my ability to enjoy the movie.
Rating: 5.0/5
Instant Comments:
oh nice I love Michelle Rodriguez. she has cool roles
oh, it's Hugh Grant ("you have my word")
hehe. "But we approved your pardon." how silly
hmm... how interseting
I would imagine... if the daughter were smart... that she would have used her necklace to be invisible and hang around to listen in
smile. She's fighting while he's trying to cut his binds
hehe can't even cut it wit the sword
"In Dungeons & Dragons, a tiefling is a humanoid race with fiendish ancestry, typically descended from demons or devils"
Hahaha "so we'll keep your share then". that's funny
He swatted at a fly. Could be the druid
Ah. the fly is
oh wow. Sofina knows. shit she's good.
The bird of prey is classic but I feel like a bat would be a more natural transition from a rat
hehe. a deer
wow. she's really well versed in choosing animals for the escape; and she showed wit with being a bird like the other birds; the whole sequence was well done
chuckle. just pay it with magic
hehe Bradley Cooper
oh she [Doric] has a tail
hahaha. of course they wasted their questions
haha. slipped
ha. "that was only the fourth question" (he's self-aware of the limit of questions
hahahaha. "Just because that sentence is symmetrical doesn't make it not nonsense." This is funny to me because I've made this observation that I've shared with some friends about the simplicity of making clever sounding statements simply by swapping around a few words, but that the result is typically nonsense. And of course the core of the observation is that many sayings exist following this pattern. Such that, one should question how true they really are. Cause believing what is false but sounds true is worse than believing what is true but sounds false.
smile. he says he's not taking his hand. but most likely he will take his hand at some point
hahahahahahaha. "well that's a little hurtful" (the intelligence devourer's basically walk by them without so much as stopping)
I'm not sure how such a bridge could survive. it just takes one person to try to cross it and it would have fallen
is this a basilisk?
Dead end? Just use the hither thither.
Probably there would only be so many charges though
hahahahahaha. Just walks straight and over the rock
As an aside, I think it's interesting she [Doric] didn't used her shapeshifting powers during the escape. She could have just turned into something that files
Ah she [Doric] uses her power again
I feel like despite this new plan, that the Harper [Edgin] (Chris Pine) would be the one to wear the helmet... Cause the Wizard's [Simon's] great-great grandfather said the magic chooses the wielder
hehe. I don't mind that.
interesting. the druid [Doric] knocked out, and all three now tentacled... I suppose now only if Kira saves them...
hehe his [Edgin's] charisma allowed them to be in the games
hehe. a mimic
wow. what a confident idea (turned into snake)
chuckle. "well shit"
hmm. not quite believable that they're actually able to keep up against her [Sofina]. She was made to seem too powerful. but maybe she is not as smart as them combined... but I really hope they have something up their sleeve than brute force
ah ok. great plan
he's gonna use the tablet to save Holga? I figured that would make sense. It's one thing to revive a person who's been dead a long time, but it's another to revive someone just as they're passing
ah ok. a second reason for saving Holga: she's effectively Kira's mom
it's surprising that in all time of the existence of that tablet no one has used it
hahaha. I was expecting him to take Jarnathan, but I didn't see the blocked window twist
hehe. It's interesting that he can't ask himself a question

Silverado (1985)
20250417:
This movie was expiring on Netflix and since I like Westerns I figured I watch it.
The movie was fun and I enjoyed the score. However, I felt at times the movie felt fractured and not always well motivated. That is, while the movie is set up for us the viewer to root for the four protagonists, I find the underlying story to not be as clear cut as some other Westerns.
Rating: 4.0/5
Instant Comments:
horns. love it
hehe. he so crazy. (Kevin Costner)
hehe got his hat back
"that's what I told him"
ha! love that conversation. "the other guy drew first" "right"
ha! I had an unconfident feeling he was hiding behind the other
epic music
hehe. "You idiot they've hit everything they've aimed at."
ah, I had an inkling. foreshadowed by didn't have to count
hehe really close shooting
what a crazy plan to have worked
what does he mean "I knew it"?
I'm thinking he won't find what he's looking for and rejoin them
oh no... they're gonna kill his dad? (he put his gun down)
Jeff Goldblum
oh wow. they tried to have him killed
Stella repeats the queston but from a different perspective "Where's the dog now?"
"I don't want to kill you and you don't want to be dead."
hmm. even if I trusted Slick, I would have taken a more cautious approach
so it's revealed Slick betrayed them (Mal and Rae)
he gives her a look. she seems to get it. she knows its her.
oh no. Rae shot.
"He can't hurt me, if he's dead."
wow. classy. two-at-once
thing is... how did Mal know where she'd be; I suppose he could have been told the location be fore he left
ouch. death by horse

Runaway Jury (2003)
20250401:
Predictable but reasonably fun film.
Rating: 4.0/5
Instant Comments:
First, why would he run out into the shooting. Second, why would he stand up against the wall.
Huh. Two years later? I thought somehow his kid would grow up and get revenge.
Huh. He shook his head but he took him
Haha. Lol. The one juror who made it too obvious.
But this whole recording thing seems to make it cheating/illegal
He said "Harkin sandbagged us." Who is Harkin? The judge?
Given that it's clear Nicolas Easter has some kind of twist, it's amazing the kind of front he puts on. Earlier when he got the jury duty paper, he said Christmas came early, which means he's happy, but he also banged the mailbox
Hahaha. Damn. They told them he hopes they're feeling patriotic and he got them to do the Pledge of Allegiance. Quite the parlor trick. Like uh... what's it called? The type of magicians who use suggestions.
Wow. "It's a parlor game." I apparently nailed the word.
I feel like he should put on a show of the chase perhaps but I'm not sure if he would have really left any sensitive data on his computer
Damn he really had at it with the car
Hehe. He got the guy on tape.
Not zeroed out... probably intentionally not zeroed out.
Hmm. I was thinking he'd be smart enough for a double plant (mp3 player) but it's revealed in his conversation he doesn't want that leaked
She asked for 10 million which is above the 7.5 million he asked. He wants to pay just 500 K.
What's the point of avoiding her photo taken if she reveals her face to him
I feel like... in the end they wouldn't do it for the money.
Whoa. Love their conversation in the bathroom
Exactly. That's what I would think as well. Rankin Fitch is able to do all the things he does because he exactly doesn't care to begin with.
I would bite him or kick him in the nuts.
Oh nice. Eye gouge.
Holy shit. She managed to win the fight.
I would say they take the money from Fitch and still swing the case to Firearms. Of course, I feel like I've seen this movie before...
Damn. That guy was getting emotional when reading the papers but he still snitched.
Oh wow. It's revealed Fitch worked that case in Gardner, Indiana. They weren't just pushing for passing gun control but for getting revenge on Fitch.
110 million in general damages... That money just goes to that one person? Or does general damages go to those affected?
The news says it's awarded to just her. That's crazy
I mean... he must be rich anyways. What does he really lose from losing the trial? I mean his future income perhaps.

Robin Hood (2018)
20250325:
Rating: 3.0/5
20250325 Comment:
While getting ready to publish this post, I had the IMDb page pulled up. Lars Andersen was shown and it made sense why so much of the archery in the film performed by Robin Hood resembled Andersen's style. I had thought they ripped it off, but it seems he was brought in to work with Egerton. The one scene in particular that first reminded me of Andersen's "A New Level of Archery" is when John told Rob to place the arrow on the outside to improve the reload speed.
Instant Comments:
they're creating a kind of blend between medieval Robin Hood and modern day warfare
while the intro was kind of cringe, the movie got interesting when he tried to save the man's son
Nottingham seized the manor, but why is it in ruins
In classic Robin Hood... he's probably Little John [complicated name]
so Tuck/Marian have their own plans to steal?
hehe classic impossible getaway (maybe she hid under the table)
I don't know, something is off about the movie. something keeps it from being excellent. maybe the actors. the only famous one being Jamie Foxx in a supporting role; but I guess at times the plot feels cheesy
hmm. he just heard a tip soon after getting a seat at the big table. if he stops it, then he may very well tip his hand. it could even have been a clever bait by Nottingham. though I think the trope for Nottingham is he's typically not that smart. Spaking of which, this Robin Hood is more action and not so witty. I think I favor a witty Hood over a pure action one. With that being said, I give them props for trying something new. I mean... it's not easy to redo a story that's been told so many times.
Oh okay. Well this attack by Nottingham is rather open so Robin Hood showing up doesn't necessarily reveal anything.
hehe. "Not anymore"
true true. Sheriff of Nottingham is but a title
huh. Taron Egerton... he was Johnny in Sing

Hehe they both scratched the same time
Smile. Sylvester Stallone poster
Hehe. Just moving his finger down the page (meaning he's reading it real fast)
Lifts the car
Hehe. Two wheels
"Did you see me with the two wheels?"
Haha. "I've only been driving an hour."
Same prep for their meal
hehe his expectation was 20K, but the amount was 5M. probably a huge amount with respect to that time
"If you're lying to me, I'll be back."
hehe. he didn't know any white soul musicians to name off, but he figured there must be some and finished the list with "and a couple of white people"
hmm... what's his incentive for killing the rich man. if it was to take the product in the trunk, then he could probably just do with that instead of the 5 million in the case
that's a lot of chain...
I think they would donate the money to their mom's foundation
wow. what a wonderful surprise with all those flowers
haha. four million? he was given five. lol he kept one million?

Smile. Gullible.
hahahaha. "screaming" + window
haha. homeschooled bit is great
hahahaha. "cause I'm also not a nurse"
"crack addicts" or "vagatarians"
I didn't get the joke. Apparently a "semi" is slang for a penis between flaccid and erect. I guess it's mainly an anti-joke, with possibly a play on semifinal?
Haha. "Maybe teaching isn't for you"
hahaha. Audi convertible
hahahaha. "hello my name's Eric..."

Cinderella Man (2005)
20250222:
Rating: 5.0/5

Wow the manager's cut is nearly as large as the boxer's cut...
75 bucks. Quite a drop from before. Where'd all the money go?
Hmm. Well it seems his manager looks out for him.
Hmm. Not sure I understand. While Braddock didn't win, I mean neither did the other fighter manage to knock out Braddock... so... yeah... I don't quite understand
It's explained in this scene that he lost his money in stocks
"I'm all prayed out."
I'd say... 50% chance he'd die
Hmm... odds increased to 90% (she runs outside to cry after checking on him)
Ah okay. Sent them away. It is unfortunate though that he had given his kid a promise
There's about 20 persons there, if each eprson donated a dollar... All these wealthy people enjoying their days...
Oh nice... the man that kicked him out.
A bit teary eyed as they come back home with the lights on and they're happy
Hehe. He's excited about $250 just to be taken down.
Thing is... I feel like if his story is turning around, he'll have to beat this guy somehow. Which is amazing as he just got a couple bites in on an empty stomach
I see... the manager has a lot of insight. So him getting a big cut actually does make sense.
He said cause of working down at the docks with the broken hand
Huh. "That was one hell of a goodbye." How would they not want him back.
Dang. This Baer guy is made to look super intense. Like he wants to murder his opponent
Oh wow. He said he got about 123 of the 250, and they had bills and such that left him with about 5... ouch
Fancy apartment but he reveals it's barren
Oh wow. He said he sold the last of it to get the money for the training. So it's his gamble / investment
I feel like in those situations... shouldn't people like group up and live together? Unless that's somehow against the lease
Chuckle. "They ought to put your mouth in a circus." He smirks in response.
Wow. That's a way to keep up the pace. Crafty transition right into the next fight.
Hehe. The mind games between rounds.
Dang. That's gotta be adrenaline doing the work. Broken rib and win
What? He's returning the aid money? Does that even do anything other than help his pride?
Oh wow. Basically Baer is in fact murderous (killed two men)
Wow. He remained composed ("he got his wife fighting for him")
Is she going to see the fight?
Hmm. She went to church. I still think she will show up at the fight.
The thing is... Baer is fighting for show, but basically Jimmy is fighting for everyone and his life. If he plays into Baer's "do this for show" or "slow down" that's just a sure way to get killed...
Wow. Baer knows.
Damn my hands are clenched with this... twelfth round I think. Jimmy is going in strong. But I can't wonder if Baer will like get a super strong punch in
Ah. There we go. A cheating low blow.
His manager told him to stay off. But for sure he is probably thinking that he doesn't just want to win the fight, but take down Baer... cause for him that's the true win
The commentor says "He doesn't want this one to go to the cards."
Ah! I didn't say it but I knew it. They foreshadowed when he asked to have the reel replayed. He took the opportunity to study the moment
Damn. Baer is a little dirty but he did a reasonably nice glove bump at the end of the match
If for some reason Baer won, there would be riot.
Nice. But why was there so much deliberation...

previously saw parts of this film but today saw it from the beginning. did walk away for about 5 minutes in one scene
hmm she looks into the hut. she seems to have lost her husband or someone she loved
I dont get why Sam was critical of Charlie freeing the turkeys. She herself didnt approve of thr treatment of the turkeys
felt teary from her giving the guitar and stockings even though I saw the scene before
hahaha "because I tell you to"
huh interesting twist. every naught thing that Charlie did was for her sister
Mia laughs when they fell in her chair
teary eyed... Sam stands up for Charlie and says she wants to be more like her
well I would first look in the beach huts where she said she wanted to go
