Saludos Amigos (1942)
20241013:
As I was expecting a full feature-length film and not an anthology, I only half-heartedly watched this film. Overall, I felt the need to check it off the list. While there is a sense in which I didn't give my full attention to the film and thus warrant a second viewing, I find the animation to be good but not worth revisiting especially as the content accompanying it regarding Latin America is likely outdated.
Instant Comments:
1a: Anthology is preceded by a warning.
Lake Titicaca
Pedro
1a: Airplane variation of The Three Bears?
El Gaucho Goofy
1a: Pause at the 24 minute mark after Goofy is introduced
1b: Resumed.
A: The Wikipedia article said there is a scene Goofy is smoking and this was edited out in a release, then brought back. And then when it first appeared on Disney+ that it was removed, but then brought back. I went back to look and it is indeed back.
1b: Huh. Bite cut chew
Aquarela do Brasil
1b: Haha. José Carioca recognizes the name and does his impression of Donald being angry

Agatha All Along
S1E1
Huh. The show seems to take on the same flavor as WandaVision. "Based on the Danish Series WANDAVISDYSEN" and the "show" is called "AGNES OF WESTVIEW". Here Agatha is "trapped" in a crime investigation show.
Aubrey Plaza!
Hmm. This character knows, but Agatha interestingly sticks to her character
Huh. She looks at the first letters of the title
Huh. Does Agatha not know she's trapped yet. (The FBI agent has come to visit her and pokes at Agatha having not left Westview)
Hehe. They're just flowers
Hehe. After she wakes up she walks out naked
"Coochie coochie coo"

hehe the witch foresees a list of four and it turns out her name is one of the four
paused after that.

hehe "she's a tough nut to smash"

hehe the fourth person is mrs hart
this song is cool "The Ballad"
"i never doubted us for a second"
take off shoes
1=20241019
S1E3
why was it that Agatha was hesitant to bring Mrs. Hart in the first place?
her conversation with him suggests he could be agatha's son
hehe agatha pours hers out
ha! agatha's wine refills
hmm... she doesnt want him to drink the wine.
what was that about? "try to save agatha"
hehe "eye ofnnewt" == "mustard seed"
hehe all natural or not jen?
what about mrs hart?
they're giving her potion but did she put her hair in earlier?
hehe "who's sharon"
[After the episode] wow i just realized that modern day cancel culture is basically similar to persecution of so called witches.
1=20241021
S1E4
huh. "she said the road would save me"
huh agatha says 2 last time, so why did she assemble so many
hehe. "less 'a' green witch a more 'the' green witch"
she's so happy prancing down the road.
"what a scary bitch"
rio says boo and agatha says no. maybe it was her and rio last time? or actually in wandavision agatha faced off against another witch... is that related to this two road thing?
oh the prophecy witch went turrettes with alice. that explains the outburst in previous episode with Agatha.
Agatha shows great concern for Teen
rio states that Agatha is her scar
hmm the start of s1e3 leads us to brlieve the possibility but rio states "that boy isnt yours". i think it could mean multiple things, such that he is her son but he doesnt belong to Agatha... because she gave him away, or something else which Jen said. about being an agent of mephisto. maybe same difference. mainly I would remain doubtful because rio doesnt seem trustworthy
1=20241021
S1E5
How does the Salem Seven get to pursue Agatha along the road? Why does Agatha and her coven have to pass trials and not the Salem Seven?
I love how Agatha sweeps her coat. I believe she's done it at least once before
hehe brooms. Neat about the little trade bit
big smile. Rio cackles (kind of stereotypical witch cackle). she enjoys the thrill of plummetting
ouija board? [yes, of course]
haha. "For ages three and up."
probably... well... Scarlett Witch could be dead or alive depending on when this takes place. the show alludes to her son being gone, but true... any number of people... but it should be a significant person...
hehe. "I'm not moving it, are you moving it?"
hehe. Mrs. Hart in Agatha. neat acting.
ha! actual acting
"familiars don't get a vote"
hehe the upside down possessed... like Exorcist
hehe. they were supposed to punish Agatha and now Agatha is punishing them
Harkness. ah. I should have listed her mom.
Oh no. Her protection spell backfired in killing her... I didn't think it would work that way
Hehe. Jen and Lilia are are practical
"No, not for me." Hmm. Why would he be on the road?
Hehe. "Are you sure? You're so much like your mother."
"Come, pet."
Doesn't that count as an attack. Hmm. I guess not. He's controlling someone else to apprehend her.
Billie Eilish
[after the episode] I wonder if Mrs. Hart and Alice are really dead or possibly just temporarily dead. Or if it's one of those... everybody dies except for Agatha and Teen

S1E6
Is it Lilia?
Oh wow. It is
Hmm. So Lilia applied the hex to forget... curious why she'd want to forget...
Oh wow. And there she is [Alice]
Huh. Houdini, Alice in Wonderland, and Wizard of Oz.
Hehe. Jen on YouTube. "That level of flawless should be illegal."
Hehe. that tag name. Bohnerific69 [oh cause his name was Ralph Bohner]
"The Ballad" is playing (as he's doing research)
I pause the show to read the website info he's going through. Lots of interesting detail
Oh wow, he's not just listening to "The Ballad" (as in on the radio or streaming), he's listening to it on vinyl
Smile. His point of view on her hallucination is funny (e.g., her fake gun, her accent)
"I'm Billy Maximoff"
The amazing thing about Agatha (well the way the actress portrays this character) is she expresses such a wide variety range of personality
Haha. "Toby" "Tommy" "That's what I said"

S1E7
After the recap, I'm curious if Agatha was able to claw out of the dirt, why not Jen or Lilia.
Hehe. She knows he's trying to read her mind
She said "The flow of time is an illusion"
"Death comes for us all." "You say it like it's a comfort."
This non-sequential story telling is good (Jen and Lilia fall from above)
Oh no... she began the reading for herself... which appears to be right. But it can also mean she will die by the end of it.
What a reveal. Rio is death
1=20241030 AM
S1E8
"You're a protection witch. You died protecting someone."
"Are you ready?" "No."
Hmm. I'm thinking about... Lilia said "Save Agatha." She experiences moments out of time. But so... when was "Save Agatha" relevant?
As Teen and Jen are talking about Rio... is it possible that the black heart always meant Rio? Hmm... I don't think so. I think the symbol did mean "Hart"
I think the show is interesting because a lot of the time Agatha seems bad but as a viewer I root for her being good. That what she said to Rio was just a ruse. I mean I'm sure she wants power, but she also seems genuine about helping Billy.
"Deep question. "Am I killing this boy so my brother can live?"
She answerd "No Billy. Sometimes... boys die."
Wow. A seed.
Agatha executes Lilia's advice. Lilia was able to foresee this event, even though her life did not (physically anyhow) extend to this time.
When is she gonna cut it off... And when she does... that necessarily means he willingly sacrifices his intense power? Well I suppose the benefit of Agatha wielding the power is she knows how to use it
I'm not sure I understand. Billy was saying he was gonna sacrifice himself. And then when Agatha agrees, he wanted to bail out and have Agatha sacrifice herself?
Huh. A twist where he realizes the entire Road experience was his creation just like how his mother created an entire fictional world.
Who cackled? Agatha?
1=20241030
S1E9
Yikes. Their screams. "Who let you in?"
I mean... did she have to kill them? I guess she was dubbed the witch killer for a reason
hehe. The origin of the Ballad.
Does Agatha constantly have to absorb to keep up her power?
In the middle of the night with no chance to say goodbye... I guess he was sick but he didn't seem deathly sick.
Hehe. A good con.
Oh wow. So he didn't fictionally make the road... he really made the road.
Huh. Why would he banish her? She helped him rescue his brother.
Hmm... this wrap-up was a bit underwhelming. Interestingly... it did answer a lot of questions... But I think it killed the vibe of the show.

Inside Out 2 (2024)
20241012:
For the most part the movie had some clever ideas but was less inspired than the first movie. In particular, this movie focused more on the extent to which the emotions control Riley's actions, and in doing so, the inconsistency was made noticeable. I believe too the first movie was inconsistent, but there was a greater focus on the importance of having multiple emotions. For example, in the first movie, Joy and Sadness had to influence Riley's dream to wake her up. In this movie, it seems Anxiety was able to get Riley to wake up early for hockey practice directly via the console.
On a different note, while Anxiety and Envy had clear goals, it was unclear to me why Embarassment would be motivated to help Sadness.
And on yet another different note, if the first movie had the foresight of adding additional emotions to the adults, then I think this movie would have greatly benefited. Alternatively, they should have spent the minute to figure out how to explain it away in the minds of the adults.
Instant Comments:
Hahaha. "Do I ever drive you astray?" "Constantly"
parody of Blue's Clues? [the Wikipedia page says Bloofy is similar to the hosts of Blue's Clues and Dora the Explorer while Pouchy is similar to Backpack from Dora the Explorer and Toodles from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse]
hehe. dynamite
what happens to these new emotions in the adults?
I left at where they choose Sadness to return to headquarters; ~40 minute mark
hehe "sar-chasm"
a parody of the Apple ad where the one person throws a computer (?) at the screen
that's a tearjerker. they come in to hug her new sense of self. thought I thought that since her friend had seen her in the box that her friend would have been the reason she calmed down
the adults show their anxiety pop up, but it's more of a... something like a retcon. I feel it's an unsatisfying answer to where those emotions would go. technically they should have already been in the adults in the first movie
I think a better way to address it would have been to compartmentalize the emotions in a different subarea. Like when you grow up, some of those emotions should have a secondary purpose

Alita: Battle Angel (2019)
20240824 Comment:
I loved the action and animation of this movie. I felt the plot was a little off from perfect though, especially since it's written with a clear ask for a sequel with no sequel in sight.
Rating: 4.8/5
Instant Comments:
curious he says "You're alive." It seems this is a robot. What would it mean for her to be dead
wow. apparently this is motion capture. practically no difference I can tell between the actual actor (Christoph Waltz) and this captured version of him [oh, probably motion capture is only relevant to Alita]
fruit for sugar levels
he uses the term "total replacement cyborg" and "human brain"
wow. they're making it look like the doctor might be the killer harvesting parts. it could be true, but it's also too obvious that it's likely a mislead
lol classic. the guy who takes out the newbie (i.e., the asshole) gets mad when she takes him out
she said it so innocently "So, I'm 300 years old?" "Sweetheart, you are."
oh no he has to go dfo something... can't be good; not to mention he left her to go home alone
I think that makes sense. Muscle memory (err... mind memory) like when typing a password. I suppose muscle memory isn't exactly in the muscle but in the mind?
"This bitch broke my nose."
I'm guessing she'll lose the fight but the doc will be able to retrieve the head to put into that other battle body.
holy shit. one handed push up into the eye. "Fuck your mercy." that's so cool. microadjustments to self-image
holy crap. this hunter just went no morals... before he was just an asshole and now he's evil
hehe. the look in her eyes. "I'm sending him to Zalem of course"
"Which ones?" "All of them!"
very cool setup for an assassination attempt
wow. she drops the sword.
teary eyed. "because I love you"
damn... why would Chiren return to him. surely she should have known her actions mean she can't go back
oh right. this guy [Grewishka] is still alive.
nice. regeneration. I was thinking it in my head but perhaps not sure enough to write it down
hehe trivial
oh it's Edward Norton [his cameo is uncredited]
grab him with your feet?
well she was able to jump over it...
seems like now would have been a good time to go up
wow. this movie was made in 2019, begging for a sequel, and seemingly no sequel exists [Wikipedia says "A sequel is in development" but no source]

Wish (2023)
20240806:
Overall, the movie doesn't have the best story and something is lacking. Perhaps it's lacking a magic spark, which is a little funny because the movie literally has magic in it. In any case, it had great music and a wonderful concept.

hmm. so the rule is you forget your wish when you give it. which is strange cause... if you give up your wish how can you pursue your dream?
left alone in the room. what if there's some secret
the king shows her the wishes and after she says they're everything... I cant help but think the twist here is that the king... although well intentioned is kind of the hidden villain somehow.
this song about i will protect you seems the king is good but songs like Frozen Hans turns out to be bad
in this conversation, the king is the gatekeeper of wishes and wont grant some and asha says adjacent to my point about giving back so they can pursue their wishes
we see a hint of the evilness potential of the king as he lashes at asha
pause where the star reveals itself to Asha
resume at 68 minutes remaining
hehr the goat talking was definitely foreshadowed (earlier in the movie with wondering what the goat says)
initially strange but fun track that sounds great
hehe see the mushrooms
"You're a star"
haha. "don't mention it Bambi." and the reply by Bambi was certainly Bambi's voice
ha. "A squirrel just said good morning to me"
is the girl that slipped a way the hidden spy, even though Gabo is loud, he seems true to not be a squealer
hmm she specificallt mentioned saba and her mom but it's everyones wishes at stake. i feel like she misrepresented herself. in any case her friend understood
oh. so she only wanted saba and her mom's wish after all...
hehe villain gets a cool song (as opposed to a kind of standard villain song, e.g. scar or mother knows best thought well i guess that song is kind of cool). but this song is like 80s fun withoit the knowing its bad
wow ok so that's like a transformation transition song
huh he didnt kniw the wishes have power... i thought all this time his power came from the wishes. that's interesting to me
hah. some comic relief. shark. just practicing.
where did the book come from exsctly
hehe Bazeema is an introvertso she has a place for herself
take a break and retirn yo hotel to watch o phone
hehe he said "Fantasyland in the sky... how about Neverland"
"the perfect nanny for your horrible children?" mary poppins? ["Poppin this one"]
I feel like if she wished on one star she or the people can wish on more. (Star is trapped)
he blocks the clouds... would that really block wishing? wishing is like a deeper human feeling
lol the goat's dream is a reference to Zootopia
Mickey ear fireworks
credits have disney constellations. various movies. I recognize most, excepting one or two. will have to watch again when I can type as it goes

Overall, the movie doesn't have the best story and something is lacking. Perhaps it's lacking a magic spark, which is a little funny because the movie literally has magic in it. In any case, it had great music and a wonderful concept.

hmm. so the rule is you forget your wish when you give it. which is strange cause... if you give up your wish how can you pursue your dream?

hehe. she works at a fitness center
oh wow. sex on the first date (and it didn't even really hit it off)
hahaha. numbers and dates and numbers

hehe. "Maybe I can get a run in" (Monica)
oh right, his wife was the one who pulled the files
hehe. his memoirs
hehe. PC or Mac
"You are not ideological." "I don't think so"
hahaha. his secret project that he wouldn't show his wife is... does that exist?
hehe his instinct was to run upstairs instead of going back the way he came?
yikes. it happened. I was thinking in my head he would get shot, but I definitely did not envision a shot straight into the middle of the head to put him out; the previous two scenes in the movie foreshadowed (never had to discharge once)
Smile. Scrubbed of ID (we know cause he simply did not have ID to begin with)

Godzilla Minus One (2023)
20240727:
I did not know (having really only watched the first three Godzilla movies in the Monsterverse) that a Godzilla movie could have so much depth.
Netflix determined the movie for me as a 97% match. I decided to give the movie two thumbs up
Rating: 5.4/5
Instant Comments:
1a: Nice. This movie gets straight to Godzilla straight off.
1a: That doesn't make sense. If Godzilla is a known monster. Then people must have tried to kill it before. ("A 20mm gun is enough to kill anything.") [also the fact that "we're mechanics we don't know how to shoot" seems like a sily excuse. Just pull the trigger; maybe he meant mentally]
1a: He seems more like a huge t-rex here.
1a: What? Who lined the bodies up?
1a: "All because you didn't shoot." Well there's no guarantee that shooting would have done anything.
1a: Oh. Kamikaze pilot (but he didn't go through with it)
1a: Wow. What an interesting makeshift family. And he's willing to sacrifice his life for an advance pay for Noriko and Akiko
1a: He's a good shot. (He says just training)
1a: Aww... Akiko called him daddy and he told her he's not her father...
1a: Wow. Regeneration
1a: Wow. The drama and emotions in this movie are deep compared to Monster universe movies.
1a: I did not see that coming. Noriko saves him and sacrifices herself
1b: Resume at the 1hr15min mark
1b: "My war isn't over yet"; protagonist [Kōichi Shikishima] is a very complex character; very refreshing to see a protagonist that isn't the ideal brave and courageous hero
1b: Hmm. I'm not sure I would understand the message here. As he avoided kamikaze and now he is putting it back on the table. It would in essense redeem himself but again the message of the movie would then be one I don't understand
1b: Hmm. Kenji Noda gives a speech about not sacrificing lives and in the next scene they don't let the young one go
1b: Tachibana looks at the chair. Maybe he'll rig an ejector seat (which Noda mentioned in his speech) and no one has to die
1b: I feel my eyes swelling as he tucks Akiko's arms under the blanket...
1b: More feelings. He pulls out the photos and the drawing by Akiko
1b: Ah-ha. "One more thing" and it pulls away, but he taps the chair.
1b: Hmm. That's smart. Seems like they sent a decoy to burn his beam (there's probably a sort of cooldown on his ultimate)
1b: the subtitles call it a heat ray. says "heat ray charging"
1b: That's so clutch last second on the ejector lever
1b: Teary eye again as it shows the playback on the scene where Tachibana communicates the ejector seat addition
1b: Wow. I let out some breathes and a tear or two drops as Noriko asks "Koichi, is your war finally over?" I cannot remember the last time a movie drew such emotion from me. Maybe Toy Story 3.
1b: Hmm... they show Godzilla regenerating.
1b: The credits end with hearing Godzilla's footsteps

The Little Mermaid (2023)
20240727:
Overall, I couldnt help but make the comparisons between this movie and the animated version. Objectively, even without the original, I would still complain about the dark scenes, the weird live animals, especially Flounder and Sebastian, but praise the songs. I did like Ursula and Scuttle in this film. I found the ending wasn't so exciting. So on its own maybe a 3.0 and in comparison to the animated film a 2.8.
Rating: 3.0/5
Instant Comments:
hmm live action but full of cg (waters probably and sea creatures probably and well mermaids)
real crab Sebastian looks ridiculous compared to animated Sebastian
shark chase is more exciting animated. this scene is so dark
Scuttle can just remain and speak under water
"gotta get some air"
Ariel is the youngest but it's not clear visually here that she is the youngest only cause Triton said so
hehe Awkwafini Scuttle brings a lot of personality
is this an extended reprise? did the origonal have a reprise? hmm Ariel on rock jn that scene is better
oh Sebastian explains she used her siren song to save him [20240824: why would a mermaid have a siren song though... sirens have siren songs; apparently an article says that the word siren used to be different but over time has become interchangeable and synonymous]
hmm they kept the lyrics of inder the see similar but none of the fun and actual instrumentation.
it's nice how this movie puts some focus on Prince Eric's story line (here he has a song)
yeah I just don't like how the characters dont have the same feeling as the movie. (triton destroys all ariels stuff) triton in the original looks huge and strong. i mean javier bardem is also strong looking but not nearly the size of triton.
hehe "the sea witch?" "the what?"
are there no eels in this movie
oh ok there are
hmm ursula looks more convincing than the mermaids
hehe "look at her stupid little feet"
hmm I like the suspense of sevastian and flounder having to help her tk the surface
the use of dinglehopper in original was charming. but here her eatin flower is charming
haha scuttle singing louder and sebastian telling him/her to dial it back is good
that's a cute reimagining of that name scene
independent tentacles. is that how real octopus tentacles behave? ["Each of the octopus's arms has a small cluster of nerve cells that controls movement, so the creature technically has eight independent mini-brains along with a larger central brain. Researchers have known about the octopus's unique biology for some time now"]
ha! "oh there it is"
oh the actress from Gilmore Girls [Alexis Bledel] is one of the guests [20240824: there are no credits on IMDb for her being in the movie]
hahaha. when Ursula took ariel and jumped off into the ocean, Mia shouted out "oh no"
they changed it to Ariel steering the ship?
Awkwafina's Scuttle credits went by so fast

1917 (2019)
20240723:
Beautiful visually and strong score. After watching the movie I read that the movie was filmed to look like was done in one shot but it's composed of many shots - some much longer than others.
Netflix determined the movie for me as a 98% match. I decided to give the movie neither a thumbs up nor a thumbs down.
Rating: 4.8/5
Instant Comments:
despite the saying of smaller, sending only two men to save - I don't quite remember - 1500 men or so, seems like a lot riding on the success. Even with the info that Germans have retreated, never know who or how many they left behind [1600]
Wonder if his hand will get infected being the end of him by the end of the movie. Or perhaps just an amputation. [I wonder if he could have covered his hand in some mud to help protect it]
(There that's the front line.) This is the second time the music has noticeably picked up to help create suspense.
Hehe. "Patch it up. You'll be wanking again in no time." "Wrong hand."
Uhuh. Fresh embers.
Holy Moly. They set a trap. How clever.
(They're discussing the medals) It's such a visual movie
Interesting. Just him saying "I don't like this place" sets an eerie mood.
Oh no. Why would there be a cow there.
Huh. He drinks the milk cause he's thirsty but what about why there's even a can of milk there.
Damn. They were trying to help him and instead he attacks... I had seen the knife. I think disarming him would have been a first step.
His face is so gray.
Good thing with all these problems and such that they didnt' wait until night. Even the short truck ride doesn't sound like it helped make good time as he's still worried about arriving late.
Holy moly. (shoot at each other)
Ah... baby in a drawer.
Oh my goodness. She took in a baby that's not hers. So nice.
Wow. He's so kind to supply them with his food. And what luck he collected the milk
Mercy puts him at risk, but he took it.
Holy shit. He just told this other man about ending the attack and there's no care for it. (just as the other officer told Schofield)
Ah. So this is Benedict Cumberbatch's role
Hehe. Movie started at a tree and ended at a tree.

Lucy (2014)
20240720:
I have mixed feelings about the movie. The philosophical tidbits were interesting, but it's unclear if the path taken was sensible. If there is meaning to it, perhaps the movie is saying that our journey for knowledge is filled with violence. But, for example, in the end, the one Korean drug boss was looking to kill Lucy. What is his interest in killing her? I think understanding character motivation is important when trying to process a story.
Netflix determined the movie for me as a 98% match. I decided to give the movie neither a thumbs up nor a thumbs down.
Rating: 2.0/5
Instant Comments:
His insistency on the situation makes it much more extreme than he's claiming it to be (and now with the handcuffs)
And after sending in Lucy, he's still sticking around outside... which makes it even more suspicious... why would he have her do the drop if he's gonna stand right outside?
Hmm. I guess this situation seems realistic (trusting what's in the case and the suspense of her opening it), but it's quite boring to watch
Apparently it's only a myth that we use 10% of our brains. According to articles, we typically use 100% of our brains across the day
Hehe. He offers her a drink
Oh snaps. (He broke open the drugs and her body is consuming it internally)
Hmm. I'm not sure what the impact of the drugs on her brain would allow her to have the courage to shoot people, even if she had the precision/accuracy to shoot people. Perhaps confidence?
Hehe. She's begun to synthesize the language... I suppose it's a visual cue. I think understanding would be possible, but not translation. Well, perhaps translation is a byproduct.
I guess her brain is like a machine learning algorithm. But how would her brain determine how to use weapons without a source?
Her reading of his mind is a cool visual
Huh. She didn't kill him.
In her talk with the scientist... it seems she's just passively creating knowledge with all the brain capacity she has
Whoa, she just changed her hair color
Why does she need the cops to stop these guys when she could herself stop them with but a thought
What is the value of the drug to the Koreans that they would enter this firefight... they should just let it go and cut their loss

Warcraft (2016)
20240719:
While I haven't played any games in the Warcraft series, I have played Heroes of the Storm which is a mix of characters from StarCraft, Warcraft, Diablo, and Overwatch. As such, I was unable to tell whether or not the movie closely followed the lore of Warcraft, but I certainly have an opinion about the look of the characters. I felt the detail of the appearances of the orcs was great. I felt less impressed by the appearance of most of the human characters, including Medivh. There were some scenes where Medivh looked the part, but I felt generally he did not look the role of a powerful sorceror.
Netflix determined the movie for me as a 98% match. I decided to give the movie neither a thumbs up nor a thumbs down.
Rating: 2.8/5
Instant Comments:
Medivh. I recognize that name from Heroes of the Storm
Murky [oh, Murky is a murloc, and probably that was just a generic murloc]
Huh. I expected Medivh to look older or perhaps bigger.
He looks more the part with his clothes on
Ah. the caption says the sorceror orc is named Gul'Dan; he's a playable character in Heroes of the Storm
Huh. It seems she was the one born and saved by Gul'Dan; it seems her mother was executed though... and yet in the other seen we saw the one orc [Durotan] holding a child... I had wondered if that might be a flashback... but it wouldn't align with Garona saying her mother was killed for giving birth to her
In this scene, Durotan is likely a different orc type [clan] from Garona
A lightning shield... seems like a strange choice for a defensive spell.
Durotan's baby is green meaning it is infused with Fel...
Ah, same as Garona
hehe. "Do I go in?" "I don't know. It's never done that before."
Hmm.. "From light comes darkness" makes sense. As darkness is the absense of light. But "And from darkness light."
Hmm. Lothar believes Garona betrayed them while Khadgar doesn't believe it
the ending makes Go'el seem special but I didn't understand why. I looked it up and apparently Go'el is Thrall; I only know him as a playable character in Heroes of the Storm, but that would imply he's a key character in the Warcraft universe

hehe drugs in a group is the wisdom
hahahahahahaha. shooting gallery. I'll take a shot. punchline: people die at the fair
Credits:
fell asleep during credits
finished credits at daytime and there's an after credits scene. follows up after Jamie Foxx has killed the man, he says another two sentences while walking away. underwhelming. as the pre credits scene was way humorous, well setup by the movie fair sequence. but this post credits didnt really augment that joke.

PAW Patrol: The Movie (2021)
20240717:
Ada started this movie for Ben. I started watching it when I came downstairs.
20240720:
I determined that the other day I started watching at around the 10 minute mark. What I don't understand is how they just got a call to help Adventure City and somehow there's a new PAW Patrol Headquarters ready and waiting for them in Adventure City.*
Overall, the movie was overly simple and one-dimensional, but my son seemed to enjoy it.

The Flash (2023)
Instant Comments:
so much Batman. I feel like a Flash origin story would have been cooler
common trope would be he goes back and he is the one that kills his mom. though that's kind of dark
so Batman just leaves his computer unguarded?
ooo the old Batmobile. so was the old Batman Keaton? [yes, which is funny cause I took a break after this scene and I thought this parallel time universe would have been a great moment to bring back a previous Batman
ah ok. he's clean shaven and dressed. now recognizable as Keaton Batman
"yeah... I'm Batman"
what a badass going down with just his gluder no parachute
Kara Zorel is such a badass (spit breaks the statue)... has a kind of evil edge to her, great looking suit
past Barry having overheard... maybe he'll get in the way thinking it'll take his powers away
hahaha. cutting the ears off.
but I thought the speed suit has extra properties than just being a suit.
huh. ok so Barry tells past Barry his suit doesn't dissipate heat. but past Barry says what? this could foreshadow past Barry becomes the demon that attacks Barry in the speed force space whatever
smile. what if I just emperor this guy
different worlds
Nicolas Cage
sacrifice...
oh I didn't get it, why his father face was visible so i went to the internet but I didnt read the explicit answer, just that Barry was the one to make jt happen; that's when it clicked what Barry said, just can of tomatoes moved from the bottom shelf to the top shelf.

Bubble (2022)
20240624:
By the end of the movie I was confused as to what really happened. The way it was told it doesn't quite make sense. Somehow he angered the bubbles, but when Uta returns to bubble form it counters all the red bubbles and they dissipate. So what happened all this time between past and present? Was Uta preventing the bubbles from returning to normal? It seems like a big flaw. So yeah. The fictional story from that point of view seems mediocre. Also touching the red bubbles was supposed to be bad but it seems Hibiki did touch some red bubbles.
While the story had flaws, the parkour was fun to watch. Also the sound was great and the action was great.
Sometimes the story was too explicit. Like she read The Little Mermaid and then kept explaining the parallels between the movie and The Little Mermaid. So there's a guideline in writing: "show me don't tell me" and I think the movie focused too much on telling me when they should have showed me.

great use of slow mo.
how do you find jumping pad action without being told. by intuition?
oh in this scene her daughter asks and the father says whenever she does something weird... so while there may be particulaf actions for targeted destinatikns, she has sk many destinations that a random weitd thing to a random place helps her acquire more skills
haha butt

The Accountant (2016)
20240620:
The movie has some difficult plot points to follow but the action and overall story were fun to watch. The idea of a functional autistic assassin/accountant reminds me of Dexter. What other characters exist in this space? I guess it can be eye opening for people who have neurodivergent children and want them to be normal when instead it seems better to try to set goals. Perhaps my favorite part of the movie in that vein is when Anna Kendrick's character tells the story of her dress and how she, like Ben Affleck's character, just wanted to fit in. So despite being neurotypical (or at least relatively so) she and him shared that desire to fit in. But I think what society needs is to normalize accepting differences.
Netflix determined the movie for me as a 98% match. I decided to give the movie neither a thumbs up nor a thumbs down.

loud music and flashinf lights... how odd
why does the father refuse therapy?
the old man finds a mile out to be impressve. i have no reference. [Snipers typically operate at ranges between 600 and 1,200 meters (3/8 and 3/4 mile) and record is 2 miles]
huh. she just had to make a call to someone she knew to get footage on the guy? why didnt the guy that hired her have the resources to collect this type of evidence?
hehe "do you understand the rules?"
that's a lot of story told in reverse. i got the gist but not completely.
why most guys still ducking and he stands? is that smart?
hmm in a situation loke this where their numbers are greater, I would have assumed full lighting is best
in this hand to hand fight... is this the last giy. otherwise why not converge on location and communicate better
whoa. had to watch again. he took the grenade and stuffed it under the kevlar and held it there
uh... is that his brother? no fucking way

1a: wow. I was watching on my phone and wasn't taking notes but I had this feeling that her dad would die, likely because she seemed happy and he was her main t3 rgexsupport as she indicated earlier and again with his kind words (Billy Joel). right after I had my thought he started coughing and then crash. not sure if he will be dead yet but I nevertheless had the thought.
1a: hahahaha "there'll be other opportunities, your grandparents can't stick around forever"
1a: hehe. despite her outburst, he seems genuinely unphased and commends her on underestimating his salary. then stands up and gives her a cookie. this scene is interesting
1a: hahahaha "am I really your favorite student" "felt like the right thing to say"
1a: wow it's autumn and the pool is warm... that's so nice
1a: hmm she crushes on the petland guy while hanging out with Erwin who likes her...
1b: resume at the 1hr 05 min mar 40 minutes remaining
1b: hahaha "you need to watch out for run-on sentences"
1b: haha. can I have some money for the yogurt
1b: hehe the bathroom and bedroom is a mess. turned upside down.
1b: I feel like the direction of this story is that... similar to richmont high, this guy breaks her heart after they have sex and she realizes she should date Erwin who is a legit nice guy that likes her. though nothing wrong with the cool guy... oh wait I got movies messed up. I'm thinking of Ronan Soroasie in Ladybird. she fell in love with the cool guy and he was cool but his philosophy and a misunderstanding about love. but she didnt have a real love... she just grew from the experience. and richmont high... the cool guy was a jerk... so... anyways.
1b: what a family situation. it's explained early on. mom and Nadine didnt get along. but there's another aspect in that apparently the mom thinks of the son as perfect and just what an imbalance of love. they say parents shouldnt play favorites and from that metric she's not doing well
1b: hehe... her brother unloads his point of view which shows how self centered she has been. I've had a similar, but less exaggerated situation where i was accused of not caring but my point of view was that i just cared differently or that I take a number of considerations into account. just because it didnt align with the other person's point of view, doesnt mean I didnt care.

this movie is currently interesting because Cena's character is somewhat neutral ground, doing the mission to help the people, supposedly his brother's goal is to get some evil chinese, whilr jackie chan is evacuating people. I think the chinese are "good" and his brother is "bad". but why kidnap and not take out
hmm ok... so it is revealed who his brother is working for (Owen)
damn tragic end for his brother Henry
haha you closer (to look if they're gone)
ah ok. they want to take the oil.

choreography with the cords and bubbles was cool
hehe frozen peking duck
hehe. she said we'll make it but they didn't

eight not nine... I'll have to look that up. number signals are pretty cool [I searched "hand signals for numbers" and the top return was "A Complete Guide to Chinese Number Hand Gestures – That's ..."]
epic tank explosions.
how crazy he was willing to sacrifice himself to kill someone else. perhaps he thought anyways he'd go to prison or something wkrse than living
hmm chasing after that guy was just gor revenge. unrelated to stopping thr oil heist. (they are on cliff yelling for help)
ah ok. the team storms the ships. but they could have done that anyways... well I guess the revenge aspect or catching the bad guy is still a must. but they put themselves in unnecessary danger. when probably they could have just sent a helicopter after him.

Bleach (2018)
20240606:
I think, having read the first arc and seen the anime, it's slightly harder to enjoy because I'm constantly making comparisons with the two. However, as far as live action adaptations go, this one is decent. In particular, it keeps the critical essense of most characters and portraying that in a suitable manner. Furthermore, with so much to tell in the story, the movie did a great job of distilling the key plot points and rearranging them. With that being said, the story told in the movie is just a small part in the larger story. If sequels were ever made, then rescuing Rukia would likely have to take two movies, and then perhaps two or three movies for the Arrancar arc. With that being said, I think the main series would have been better suited by a television format (like the recent live action ONE PIECE and Avatar: The Last Airbender series on Netflix).
Netflix determined the movie for me as a 91% match. I decided to give the movie neither a thumbs up nor a thumbs down.

huh. okay. that's a sensible way to present that part of the story (I've seen the anime so I know what the scene is referring to) (girl by the water in the rain)
hmm... they should have gotten a bigger actor for Chad
see this is a good adaptation of the source material. (moments leading up to transfer of power) unlike my opinion of live action Avatar: The Last Airbender series
he didn't pop out of his body when he became a Soul Reaper. or at least they didn't show a body
smile. Rukia's drawings
the English voice for Orihime is spot on
Captain Kuchiki is portrayed here as darker, almost villanous. whereas I got more of a calm, serious vibe from him in the manga and anime
hehe. she drops her book
in the anime I recall Rukia dressing nice for this visit to the grave... but I think in terms of adaptation, the movie's been doing well so far
good choreography in fight between Renji and Ichigo here but Ichigo says that Renji slowed down and they failed to make it seem like Ichigo did gain a speed component ("Kind of slow aren't you?")
hmm. it feels more clear in this adaptation that Rukia kicked Ichigo over to save him. Or at least from what I remember.

huh. okay. that's a sensible way to present that part of the story (I've seen the anime so I know what the scene is referring to) (girl by the water in the rain)
hmm... they should have gotten a bigger actor for Chad
see this is a good adaptation of the source material.

Madame Web (2024)
20240606:
The movie wasn't the worst, but it was very underwhelming. The movie spent too much time in the wrong places. In particular, the ending felt rushed. Madame Web is a cool character once developed but the backstory should perhaps be ignored or told in a shorter format. Similarly, the three teenagers as a team would be fun to watch, but not through this backstory. Actually, having said all that, this film would have been better as a mini series or full television series. Furthermore, it should start with the team already together, do some cool action episodes, and then at some point do a prequel season into their backstory.
Netflix determined the movie for me as a 94% match. I decided to give the movie a thumbs down.

what an awkard start. she talks as if the baby is doing something to her
spider people
huh. they have a spider bite her
seems dramatic... I've never seen people not stop for an ambulance
the one spider looks like the one in the character from Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
he's upset about something he walked into
her chest compressions seems so gentle
seeing the future and affecting it... implies what you saw was not really the future, only some vision that alters your actions to what really ends up being the future (relative to the time before)
this guy was gonna kill them in public? he wasn't even disguised...
"that's your emergency, that" (oh I feel like the ironic part is that his spider would be the one that gives them powers)
why would he attack the cops and not attack his targets?
hmm... strange. in her line of work... it doesn't seem like she would abandon people in need
oh ok... just a vision
huh. the past. interesting
psh. a variation of Spider-Man quote. "when you take on the responsibility. great power will come"
but his point is valid. how can they hide for two weeks
not due for four weeks... that's what... two weeks premature? [40 weeks is likely the usual tracking time... so 4 weeks is 36 weeks in, and the cutoff is 37 weeks
did she have a vision to know to go through the wall like that to hit this guy? Also... it seems he jumped into the vehicle when he could have stayed down under the ambulance
that's pretty cool. I suppose that using such a power for the first time in a time of need is possible, but not as common a trope as accidentally using such a power and then honing it
her eyes seem glazed over. she was probably blinded by the strike

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny (2016)
20240508:
The fight scenes in this movie were underwhelming compared to the first movie. The story made some sense but the witch's motivation seemed off. The final battle between Silent Wolf and Hades Dai was even that cool. Crashing down through the roofs felt mediocre.
I know the first movie is based on a book, so I'm guessing this sequel was too. However, unless there's significant cultural importance, I would have changed the story to make Michelle Yeoh the star. Speaking of which, I feel like her falling back in love with the brother seems out of place. Unless she simply reunited with him in a platonic way.

interesting... it is revealed who Silent Wolf is
hmm... took the sword to save his masters life but now the master will die... seems like inconsistent value... he could have left the sword and both him and his master could make a run for it, at least extend their lives for whatever years than dying right now...
huh did the witch person know this boy was going to try to kill this man... would make sense. i guess the witch person is more like... information savvy than any magic
hmm I guess I thought of Michelle Yeoh as the star but Donnie Yen gets to fight this guy, which makes sense from a story perspective because of their earlier match however many years before
hehehe. her lesson to her student foreshadowed this. too easy lol.
huh, how could snow vase take this girl down if this girl outmatched four warriors that are more experienced and skilled than her
ah ok seems her training paid off
oh... somewhat
Poetic that Hades Dai should reach for the Green Destiny and to meet his end by his own sword; in more words, he viewed the Green Destiny as the more powerful sword, and so from his point of view, was struck down by the less powerful sword.
what? Snow Vase lived? her wound seemed fatal...

so we have our first twist... he either really didn't invite Benoit or is pretending to not know; he said he made five, one for each of his friends... what counts as those five
"It's a dangerous thing to mistake speaking without thought for speaking the truth."
I guess they're going through and giving everyone some sort of motive to kill Miles (Whiskey is with Miles)
Hehe third time this guy showed up who's not supposed to be there...
Benoit explains why he purposely ruined the game
Hehe. The repetition of this Mona Lisa painting closing up really does a great job of building suspense
Oh shit. That glass has his name on it.
Hehe. Knife missing. "Lord help us."
If I were to guess... at this point (Andi having been killed) is that Miles hired the guy he told everyone to ignore to kill everyone to avoid blockers to his Klear product

Hmm... of course (the napkin, the evidence, got burned; and unlike digital evidence, doesn't seem like a good way to back it up... maybe take a picture with your phone first?)
oh wait, she has a recorder; if he could get that on the recorder
hmm... what exactly did Benoit hint at
oh wow. the reveal "this is a smokeless garden"; I thought her whole smashing was a play on the Mona Lisa

huh. she didn't straight up answer and it just panned in on her face... any reason? Could she somehow be Andi? The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
20240502:
Rating: 4.8/5
Instant Comments:
Is that Trinity?
That's a decent stunt (crash landing)
ooh that car hop was cool
How'd she escape?
oh shit, that's Neo's room.
huh. this man is Morpheus
"the choice is an illusion, you already know what you ahve to do" (I think most people haven't thought about this statement before, but this really is many things if not everything in our lives)
"you tell me Mr. Anderson, is it free will or destiny?"
hehe. meta. Warner Brothers making a sequel to the trilogy
Is "M. IV" suppose to be like the fourth matrix movie?
oh... it literally is "Matrix Four"
ha! "And who knows how many more?"
hehe. It's like they asked themselves... how many references can we fit into this movie? Nonstop references on multiple levels. Probably averages 1 reference per minute.
hahahaha. "At last."
hehe. "Mr. Anderson!"
smile. The cat's name is "Deja Vu"
smile. "Looks easy enough."
"We don't have to run to phone booths anymore either."
yes... strange why they're keeping both Trinity and Neo alive... and right next to each other...
and what now that he has woken up?
oh they sent the bots to retrieve him... in which case the machines should have implemented physical securities (protection in the real world)
ok. this fight between Neo and Morpheus is refreshing; it isn't just a copy of their fight in the first movie.
I wonder if Jada Pinkett Smith is playing this Niobe. It does look a bit like her
Neo isn't wearing glasses or dressed up at all like the rest of them
hehe. "I still know kung fu." (I feel like this line would have been better in his earlier fight with Morpheus)
Priyanka Chopra (I didn't recognize her earlier); but I thought she was a program, how does she take this physical form? or perhaps they entered the Matrix to meet her
no... I think she'll definitely break free of her "ficticious" family; it would be a classic turnaround
huh strange twist (Agent Smith was able to move freely)
Neo stopping bullets
I don't know what all the brain transfer stuff was about and how they managed to disappear with the body, but what makes this movie good is that it centers around the romance / love story between Neo and Trinity
Agent Smith quote: "Anyone could've been you, whereas I've always been anyone." This line plays exactly into my rule for making a quote that sounds meaningful, but not necessarily. In general, lines sound meaningful when there is some sort of symmetry, repetition, rearrangement, and duality at play. For example: "the more you consume of the world, the more the world will consume you." As an outcome of a syllogism, we get that Smith could have been Neo. But the fact of the matter is that, despite their similarities, Smith is not Neo.
Haha! His failed attempt to fly. It almost looked like it was gonna happen cause of the ripples
I thought they had a plan for an out... why do they have to escape from the swarm and not just leave
she can see the code... so she's role swapped with Neo (I guess something which was foreshadowed throughout)
Hehe. They both fly into the air like Neo did in the first movie... So kind of a repeat of the original with some minor differences

The Highwaymen (2019)
20240422:
Netflix determined the movie for me as a 78% match. I decided to give the movie a thumbs up.
Rating: 4.0 / 5
Instant Comments:
I have no idea whether that's a lot or a little ($130 a month) [one movie review I came across suggested it was a lot: "How could they pass up $130 a month?"]
hehe. "No, Sir, I don't mind at all." (doesn't mind the asking, but doesn't answer the question)
Oh wow. Costner hovers over Harrelson a bit. [Costner is 6' 1" and Harrelson is 5' 10"]
The fact that they got this opportunity to be so close... if they were leading a bigger team it'd be done
What does he drink out of the flask?
450 miles. Assuming they could do 60 miles an hour in those vehicles, that'd take 5 hours.
"Clyde might be king, but I'm a Texas Ranger, you little shit."
Huh. He just said sometimes Clyde wears a wig. Could that be the person Maney passed by and greeted [I went back and it's possible; the scene is dark]
Wow. What a price to pay. Either he tipped off his friends and got killed for it or they beat it out of him
"Manos arribas" story.
Yikes. That's a lot of bullets. They were not taking any chances with leaving these two alive.
They're practically kids. Were they in their 20s? [yes, Bonnie was 23 and Clyde was 25 at the time of their death]
Oh wow. When the camera pulls out, Bonnie really was so small.
Yikes. Grabbing at a dead body. Why pull the car into town that way?
Smile. They pull over to let Maney drive

I loved the animation, the music, and the emotions in this movie. I did, however, get lost a few times with the plot and it wasn't until I did some external reading that I understood the earthquake theme.

Hmm... I guess her hesitation to help makes sense as there is perceived danger; plus I guess it helps build tension
hehe "You're in the way"
hehe. is chasing a cat as a three-legged chair reasonable?
hehe. delusional. He could hardly close the door by himself as a human and now he wants to close it as a small child's chair...
hmm... how could this cat simply pass being a Keystone to Souta; why not someone else? or how could a normal human be a Keystone? seems illogical
Souta's grandfather knows the cat, and speaks to him kindheartedly
that's a real nice track (after she visits Souta's grandfather) [It's titled "Suzume" and has the most plays on Spotify (139M) on the Motion Picture Soundtrack (first single); the second most played track "KANATA HALUKA" has 46M plays (and is the album's second single), followed by a track with 7M, then 6M, then 3.5M and the rest have no more than 2M plays per track.
ah... Suzume asks Daijin if anyone can be a Keystone or just closers.
Sadaijin. Creepy
Hahaha. The roof to the convertible is fixed after the accident
Hmm. 20 km is about 12 miles. I guess it's not so bad
oh right, the other side of that door [Ever-After] was explained to span across time [interestingly, for the passing of the chair to work, it would have to magically never age and have no origin; apparently this particular time travel paradox of self-causality is called "The Bootstrap Paradox"][a comment on Reddit had a better explanation: the chair got lost in the Ever-After during the tsunami, and also lost a leg during that time, old Suzume on the way to approaching young Suzume spots the broken chair and hands it to young Suzume]
It's not explicitly stated, but the earthquake is mentioned throughout the movie, and so it is implied that her mother died from the earthquake

I'd imagine they'll make love by the end of the movie
he's quite talented to rebuild all the songs which he did not mostly memorize
hehe the frustration that his parents don't know "Let it Be" and he says it's akin to da Vinci painting the Mona Lisa in front of their eyes. I think as a consequence that part of The Beatles craze has to be the singers themselves, and their popularity which helps propogate the popularity of their songs
of course it's good that he's a good singer
hmm will this Gavin be a third wheel / create a love triangle, I hope not
that's a prolonged punchline "you look like Ed Sheeran, you know? " "I am Ed Sheeran"
hahahaha. only kidding about the rapping.
huh it panned to a guy who looked a little confused (during "Back in the USSR"). maybe it's just a coincidence or maybe some other people have lingering memories... though perhaps still early in the movie... I just feel... maybe later in the movie things return to normal or be wakes from a coma but also learns something. maybe being a star isn't what he wants. maybe what he wants is Elle. also, he knows it isn't his music (he tried to tell Elle earlier) and he must be passionate about his own songs as well
oh ok, after he leaves it pans back to the man...
hehe that man is still just standing there
haha. he tried to sneak in "Summer Song"; I knew it. if he was just in it for fame he wouldn't care about his own songs. but he wants to have his cake and eat it too. perhaps he figured he can use Beatles songs to get famous and then share his own songs along the way... but it just doesn't mesh
I think... it seems like all the things he loved got erased, so that goes to my theory that this is all in his head. though oddly a random russian guy wouldn't be in his head.... but it wasn't just The Beatles, it was Oasis (wonderwall), then Coca-Cola, and now cigarettes. items which otherwise don't seem connected in anyway.
weird the woman from the airport followed him
this conversation between him and Elle before he has to catch the plane aligns with my thoughts on the direction of the film. perhaps it's a cookie cutter romance.
hehe "Hey Dude" altering a classic because it isn't a classic yet... (same as the album names). and he tries to wake himself up
Ah! ok the foreshadowing was there. I called it. Gavin
interesting twist on the sentiment of the two persons (which is neat cause for sure earlier I thought, if it were me I'd be screwed. I would remember thr beatles but likely it'd take me forever to even figure out a decent version of even a single song)

Looper (2012)
20240413:
I foun the movie had great action, pacing, and thematically pleasing to watch. I had two main thoughts about the movie, but Rian Johnson has an interview which answers one of them well and the other to some satisfaction.
The first thought is in regards to the premise of the movie, laid out in the initial part of the movie. The protagonist narrates that the future has some sort of tagging method and the only way to get rid of someone is to first send them back in time. Apparently, this isn't explained further because Rian Johnson thought it'd be an unnecessary spend of time - a decision one has to make sparingly in sci-fi (e.g., exposition on hyperdrive, exposition on communication across space). However, Johnson says that essentially everyone has a device that would trigger an alert when they died or which can be signaled by the authorities. Killing the person in any way would trigger the signal, but sending them back in time is a loophole. Of course once they get sent back in time, they need to be eliminated otherwise the person sent back would affect the future.
The second thought is in regards to the ending, and how it relates to the Rainmaker. It is implied that the Rainmaker was caused to come into existence by Joe. But when I was watching the movie, I thought of it more like Old Joe's actions were a result of the Rainmaker. However, after watching the interview, in which Rian Johnson makes some indication about it being hard to tell and the interviewer using the term "chicken-and-egg," I realized that perhaps it is perhaps more or less of a loop which Joe felt he could break by removing himself.
As an aside, I think there's a critical scene in the film that captures the essence of all that follows it. In the diner, Old Joe explains he wants to save his wife. Joe then says to then just show him the picture and he'll never have to meet her, which would save her, but Old Joe refuses. This is the first indication that Old Joe is being selfish.
I subsequently read an article which also did a great job interpreting the time travel in Looper: Time travel in Looper.
Netflix determined the movie for me as a 95% match. I decided to give the movie neither a thumbs up nor a thumbs down.
Rating: 3.8/5
20240414 Comment:
I was wondering today about "Joe 3" in my comment in the Instant Comments section below. I came about in my mind to believe that the matter of sending a person back in time creates a ripple into the future. To make it easier in my mind, I imagine there's a forefront of time, where the future has not yet been created. As such there's a first Joe that reaches 2024, before the future invention of time travel circa 2074. When that forefront hits 2074, persons are sent back to 2024 to create this special assassination system, which will affect the lives of persons in 2024 in a strange circular fashion. As such, there exists a Joe that never became a looper until that moment when the assassination system was created. In dealing with time in Loki, I had created extra time dimensions and that might be possible here. Actually speaking of Loki, there must be infinite branches that we're not observing. We're following a specific Joe that has removed himself from the loop with a special connection to Old Joe. However, think about a past iteration of Joe. What happens to that Joe's future? Will he not have an Old Joe appearing to close the loop?
Note someone linked a cool diagram with a loop that does a pretty good job of intertwining what I named Joe 1, Joe 2, and Joe 3: https://imgur.com/4uMpD. However, such a diagram would not be in line with the rules of Looper - since JGL_2 placing the message on his arm should only affect BW_2 and yet it appears on the arm of BW_1 (using the notation of the diagram). With that being said, the diagram aligns with my thinking that the movie would be better with multiple timelines, scrapping the idea of transmitting changes, and rewriting the story where needed to not depend on transmitting changes (e.g., Joe meeting with Old Joe in the diner). Perhaps this is a difficult task, but it would make for a more compelling story.

Huh. "Closing the loop" is explained... The shot happens so quickly it'd be near impossible not to kill yourself. In any case signing up for the gig means you likely set a cap on your life at 30 years...
"Letting your loop run"
"no law against it" (he's allowed to stash his bars)
oh... that's interesting... they can't kill him because... well in a closed-loop timeline they couldn't have killed him cause he made it to the future
lol. I'm from the future you should go to China
twirling your gun seems so stupid (as stupid as sticking your gun in the front of your pants; the last place I'd want to stick a gun is near my penis)
yikes. a scar showing up on his arm
hehe missing fingers (so it's more like a Back-to-the-Future type timeline)
interesting that he chose to go to the address indicated
hmm... all that silver he had stashed... he won't be able to get to it now, right? he should have placed it in different locations
huh... he was bold enough to come back to his place
didn't even retrieve any of his bars; I guess he was just waiting to run
huh. what's this...
thinking about earlier, knowing now that he turns into Bruce Willis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt definitely threw some mannerisms throughout that resembled Bruce Willis which makes the transition more believable.
yeah so with multiple timelines... we're tracking two version of Joe, or maybe three. Let's say Joe 1, Joe 2, Joe 3. We start out watching Joe 1 which eventually waits on a Joe 2 to appear and Joe 2 appears and stuns Joe 1. Joe 1 goes back to his apartment. Time rewinds and we actually see Joe 2 in Joe 1's spot who does close the loop by killing Joe 3, which is strange since we're to believe that Joe 3 should be Joe 2, but Joe 2 clearly has a different fate than Joe 3... The weird thing is how this contrasts with Seth who's future self was directly connected to what was done to his present self. Though I guess if your future self is killed, then your future self can have a chance to live... though not vice versa
hahaha less letters. I was gonna say that's a lot of real estate on an arm to send a message
huh. he's just gonna kill three kids to save his wife?
interseting comment: "she's not my mom. she's a liar"
hmm... that seemed supernaturally intense
ah okay... wow. what a twist. (kid fell down the stairs)
hehe. "I'm not such a fuck-up now" (followed by a surprise and "Motherfuckers!")
Kid you better run now... cause you've fucked up
Hmm... This Kid is an idiot... he could have just left
holy fuck... I thought he would just simply transmit those thoughts to his old self... but his action was much more drastic. perhaps the fitting end [though he could have just shot off his firing hand? maybe he figured that would just be a temporary solution]
