Born on the Fourth of July (1989)

Instant Comments:
Wheelchair bound... armless...
Hehe. "Did you like it?" "I don't know?"
Wow. So many kids.
How old was Tom Cruise in this movie? [For context his first movie on IMDb is in 1981, he did Risky Business in 1983, Top Gun in 1986, and Rain Man in 1988]
Disappointing loss, but perhaps strange to see such a different reaction from his supporters.
I imagine somewhat dramatized, but not far from the truth: most of the boys want to go to war, only one is keen on going to college but is teased by the other boys
"Moon River"
Damn. Friendly fire. ["Examples include misidentifying the target as hostile, cross-fire while engaging an enemy, long range ranging errors or inaccuracy."]
"What hapepned?" he asks...
Hehe. The commanding officer is helping to deny it, but he's still rattled
All the commentary around the injuries
Nasty. Femur fracture or something.
I'm sure there's real media that would break one's unrealistic ideals of war but this movie wouldn't be bad either... so much unpleasant imagery (wounds of all sorts); though in an artistic way
Kind of a replay from when he was younger. Him flinching at the firecrackers. A boy looking at him.
He blames it on his mom... and I think the signs were there that she did push him and have these expectations of him when he was younger...
Were those tears of sadness or tears of joy?
Oh wow. Is this [William Dafoe]
Charlie sheds a tear
I feel like he shouldn't say anything about him killing Billy because they probably got over it.
And it seems they're also quite a war family
Geez... the kid is right there.
Billy's father said "We don't have to hear this son."
I don't know. I felt he did it more for himself than for the family. Which I suppose is fine.

Spanglish (2004)

Instant Comments:
The narration doesn't exactly match what's written in the essay. I could see this from the phrase that followed "12 years ago in Mexico." But I rewinded, paused, and there's an entire first chunk of the essay which is omitted from the narration as well.
Hehe; Clear glass
Hehe. Money for bleeding nose
HA! "She didn't mean it as a compliment. She meant it as an accusation"
Hahaha. The grandma (?) signaled six fingers which the cousin correctly interpreted as $650
Hehe. Awkward. He tells her it's gonna be okay, reaches in to rub her breast, and says "Coochie Coochie Coo"
HAHAHA. "I admire your feelings. I hope to adopt them as my own."
Hahahaha. "The emotions of a Mexican woman."
Haha. Smile. Struggling with her shirt.
LOL. What is this? "Weee...."
Renting a place for the summer. So much income.
"Did you ask her if she could live in?" (Evelyn to the mother)
Hehe. The opportunity to make money finding rocks.
HAHA. "The most amazing white woman I have ever met." (certainly unexpected comment)
Without the context, this scene (the lines that end in returning the money) was the preview for this movie and seemed like something else.
Cristina's translation including the emotions is great
Perhaps unusual in-character but very typical Adam Sandler ("set my hair on fire")
Wait, who is Mike? The real estate guy?
"How did you become that man?"
Smile. "Would you get out of the damn wind?"
Hahaha. "40 messages start to look needy."
"Do I need makeup?" "You need a hose"

I gasped when the man purposely dropped the foot
a drop of sweat

Mr. Link
smile. the man punches the moose head
Santa Ana, California
haha, they look over to the bird in the cage
haha why don't you throw this over as well
paused when they give the villain the slip
continue at 41 minute mark
Smile. "I'll sit over here" and the seat pops up.
Susan
cookies
Interesting. Did they explain how Mr. Link's kind was wiped out whereas these "Yeti" survived?
hehe "the country cousin. the redneck"
how phlegmatic
"Keep out we hate you"
Adelina as a supporting character is...
ha ha ha ha. (something was funny from pit; perhaps being thrown into the wall)
HAHAHA."the people we don't want here are leaving! force them to stay!"
this man is crazy. he's also standing on the bridge!
no way he could have hung onto ice with all that momentum [in terms of "if this was reality"]

Flight (2012)

20230726:
So the main thing about the movie is that it's not really about a plane crash. The movie really centers around alcoholism and more generally addiction.
Instant Comments: Interesting introduction. Sex. Beer. Smoking. Weed. Cocaine.
Adding three little containers of alcohol [vodka] to the orange juice...
Jeez... she couldn't help but use the needle...
Despite all the drugs and alcohol he had been consuming, he seemed completely coherent during the landing. As this landing occurred so early in the movie (about 25 minutes), it's interesting how the remaining of the movie will be filled
96 out of 102. Doesn't sound bad consider the situation.
That bloody tear is disgusting... What an image.
John Goodman.
I imagine that while from the primary point of view he saved the plane from crashing, it's possible that perhaps somehow his intoxication could have led to the failure to begin with. And/or the initial stunt he pulled during takeoff.
LOL. This Harling Mays and the transaction between him and Whitaker is interesting. Whitaker has Mays take back the vodka.
Interesting meeting in the stairwell.
Ha! The veal.
Interesting to have the bottle of liquour in the living room.
Huh. He dumps the drug and the alcohol...
"Ain't no sunshine."
A whole ton of liquour in the cabinets!
That's insane. The focus on the six deaths instead of the potential 102 deaths. I mean I get it and I don't get it. Because on the one hand it is justice and on the other hand it is injustice.
Huh. After all that dumping of alcohol... he changes his mind on the pure orange juice and asks for "Double Stoli neat" (which I assume is two shots of Stoli Vodka).
Yikes. Complete turnaround.
Huh. I thought he was supposed to be off alcohol.
Hmm. I'm not sure of the advantage of having Margaret alter her testimony. That is, given they will be acquiring the testimony of multiple persons.
Holy shit. This conversation with Ken was strange. Whip didn't really press the issue though... I thought that was good.
Huh. He informs them that while they found two bottles, he drank three. With that being said, I do remember him only throwing away two. So what does that mean? Does it have a meaning?
Still drinking the vodka orange...
Is that actually just a can of Coke? Hehe
How tense. Is he gonna fuck it up between this drop off in the hotel and morning? Don't hotels have minibars?
Hehe. No alcohol in the minibar.
Holy fuck he's getting so ansy.
Oh no. What's with this "soft knocking." Is someone gonna tempt him?
Holy shit this is kind of spooky.
Wow. This minibar is full of it...
Wow. I can't believe they created such an intense scene from whether or not he would drink a bottle of alcohol.
Yikes. Picked it up!?!
Hehe. "Call Harling Mays. He's got cocaine."
The cocaine is kind of weird resolution to him breaking on the alcohol... but sure
Hmm... Okay. I suppose that's a suitable ending.

Nimona (2023)

Instant Comments:
1a: hehe Goldenloin
1a: hmm hardworking versus inherited... I wonder what other popular stories have this as a core theme.
1a: interesting that Goldenloin happens to be in love with Ballister
1a: I thought he was gonna be booed on stepping on the stage
1a: oh no... framed. the squire was saying trying to say something... I wonder if it was related
1a: hehe her eyes "did they let you keep the old one"?
1a: lol how did she get in and out...
1a: smile Nimona knocking everything down...
1a: oic. Rhino. that's how she easily got in and out
1a: "you did that on purpose" "you catch on quick boss"; loving it so far; fast paced and awesome; I gotta watch this movie again soon after finishing it
1a: haha! shark.
1a: "there is a villain on the loose" huh... does the Director have a motive...
1a: "I hate babies"
1a: attention given to the director. maybe my hunch was right.
1a: why did you get to kill him?
1a: cute little demon boy
1a: I was right on two counts but... I suppose it was obvious. in any case what now...
1a: hahaha "Or am I?"
1a: wow. they have evidence but his instinct is not to simply reveal it...
1a: hehe. his thoughts match Nimona's sentiments. chop off arm... arm chopping is not a love language
1a: they were like this when I got here
1a: lol... they didn't make a backup? well I imagine the servers have a backup
1a: I hope he says "she is Nimona"
1a: nice during the fight against Ambrosia he says some good rhings about Nimona
1a: aww... she saved the kid but got no thanks for it
1a: paused at 54 minutes
1b: what? would he have really let his guard down?
1b: ahh. the twist.
1b: hehe, smile. he says "metal"
1b: can a shark dance?
1b: but this cant be the end yet
1b: what!!! it seemed like he was on Bal's side and apparently well the reveal... we'll see how things shake out
1b: huh, I thought he left the conversation on Nimona's side but he came back totally convinced thay she was the bad one... I'm confused here
1b: I had read a review the other day that meantioned no backstory. while perhaps there's no origin story, I would say what's being shown here counts as backstory
1b: oh wow. her friend turns out to be Gloreth...
1b: that's cold "go back to the shadow from whence you came"
1b: hmm this part reminds me of Ralph Breaks the Internet where a broken friendship is more or less the cause of a monster attack on the city. so I'm guessing mending the friendship will really be all it takes to solve the problem (I'm also getting Moana with Tafiti vibes)
1b: "what I have done?" yes what have you done... (well we the viewer got to see the backstory)
1b: wow. that scream of pain...
1b: "I see you, Nimoma" (huh isn't that what Moana said to Tafiti?) [no, Moana finishes the song with "You know who you are" and earlier she sings""I know your name"][20230904: I suppose "I see you" should conjure associations to the Na'vi in Avatar]
1b: what!?! "fire the cannons"?
1b: did Nimona take the form of a phoenix?
1b: huh. the Director also said "go back to the shadow from whence you came"
1b: I wouldn't imagine she's actually gone but she could be (as in, it works)
1b: what exactly is on the other side of the wall anyways?
1b: "hey boss" "holy sh..."
1b: I asked Ben if he understood what happened (at the end). Ben said yes that other people said Nimona is a monster.

Underworld (2003)

Instant Comments:
1a: The story was terribly confusing until the guy breaks up the fight: apparently there is a war between Vampires and Werewolves (Lycans)
1b: resume at 14 min mark [20230904: technically I should publish this post with a date of 20230705, but in this case I feel as if 20230722 is more appropriate]
1b: this Kraven character is annoying
1b: dialogue occasionally feels cheesy but I recall the matrix had sikular moments
1b: so they were following a human... would it really be so hard to get him
1b: ok... mildly boring. he drank some serum and slowly expelling bullets
1b: um... ok so just keep driving while someone is stabbing the roof (WTF!?!)
1b: (memory) it seems like he got to her blood aswell as Lycan. is it possible to be turned both ways?
1b: did she get scared of something in his blood?
1b: so confusing... why did he slap her?
1b: so the story unfolds (Kraven meets with Lycans, which is what Selene must have been suspecting)
1b: lol the skin is just attached in some book
1b: okay so Selene's message during this attempted awakening conveys her suspicions directly
1b: where exsctly did she stash Viktor. [oh]
1b: smile. what do you do with them after? we put the bullets back in.
1b: strange kiss
1b: so this conversation explains The Chain (a cycling of two asleep and one awake)
1b: um.. ok. I feel like such obvious betrayal is too much a tell for Kraven
1b: hehe. I'm not. I'm helping me.
1b: uh these Lycans didn't return fire... why not?
1b: what's with these cops? I thought they were working with the Lycans.
1b: ok... "stick em stick em"
1b: half Vampire half Lycan. okay so the goal is there, but it didn't happen with Selene's blood as I had thought
1b: I don't understand why the Lycans would be interested in creating a mix of Vampire and Lycans.
1b: huh. we get to see the entirety of Lucian's memory.
1b: "the daylight guardians of the Vampires"
1b: open jaw. killed his own daughter
1b: wow... he shot Lucian... was that necessary? too confusing
1b: sure just drop the blood and get sidetracked [I wouldn't be surprised if Selene injects the blood to create a halfblood... though perhaps she's conflicted on the topic]
1b: I feel like the werewolf transformation is so slow. Why not get in some attacks during the transformation?
1b: nice. Lucian wakes
1b: "bite him" (okay so I was half right)
1b: "leave us" lol that's like the fourth or so time this has been said. kind of old
1b: oh wow. his daughter was already pregnant
1b: incredible speed
1b: though I bwould have thought Viktor would have had superior combat expertise compared to this new kid
1b: I didn't get it. something special about that sword revealed? how would one be able to stand and do what he did if the head was already severed?; I can't believe this movie has sequels [there are 5 films in total, one of which is a prequel]
1b: huh, so the fight occurred in the Vampire place near the three tombs? or was he brought back there. also... I feel like the probabilty of the blood dripping into the necessary hole would have nearly been impossible. [no, the battle occurred in the undergrounds, but earlier Viktor had killed the werewolf that was brought in for interrogation inside the room with the tombs; "The blood of the werewolf Viktor killed in that room drips into his mouth and his eyes narrow like Michael's eyes did, leaving the possibility of a sequel."]

1a: nice little connect moment over the drawing
1a: "i like seeing you like this" "lkke what" "hopeful"
1a: despite the perceived lack of tact, he wasnt necessarily wrong with the approach (imo) and surely what he said was true. but i suppose typically the majority would prefer a more subtle approach. Ip Man 4: The Finale (2019)

20230716:
Overall, I think this film lacked as good a story as some of the other films (though to be fair I don't entirely remember the other films). With that being said, the fight scenes were still generally fun to watch.

Instant Comments:
Cancer due to smoking...
Smoking on the airplane
Huh. How rude. They don't say hello
So it's soon explained they're upset about Bruce teaching martial arts to non-Chinese, but I don't think that calls for being rude.
Wow. $10,000 back then must be a lot in today's time.
Yikers. She cut herself with scissors (which thank goodness it wasn't worse than just that). Though given what she committed and/or intended to do to Yonah, she probably got off easy
OMG. This Becky causing trouble.
Hmm. That's a skewed point of view. "Use my daughter"?
Okay, I wasn't sure if he was going to defend himself on the topic, but after the fight he clarifies: "I brought Yonah back to protect her. Not for the letter." But he did not give a mention to the new injury (to be fair the Chairman decided to play honorably and fight one-handed, but then later didn't take the withheld kick - at least I assumed it was withheld)
Huh. I didn't realize that Japanese karate was popular in the United States long before Chinese kung fu.
Smoking and coughing.
Hehe. Master Law blames it on the small stage.
Huh. So this Conin guy is at the level of a master and yet the one student marine was able to go at it against him for a few beats
The subtitles: "[loud crack]" (broken rib)
Man... this movie is hard to watch. Racism is hard to watch.
Holy momly. This guy is going rogue. He's sure to be dishonorably discharged.
I guess what doesn't make sense is to pit the best against the best and use the winner as a proxy for the better school.
Oh no. I didn't expect Master Wan to lose - since he seeemd to be able to keep up with Master Ip. Does that imply Master Ip was holding back? (I guess during that fight he did have an injured arm and fighting one-handed must not be the same as fighting two-handed.)
"Racist asshole!"
Hmm. I guess there must have been a considerable age difference between this guy and Master Wan and Master Ip
Is no one recording this?
Ooo. That beat up eye. Disgusting.
Intense end. (strike to the throat)
I wonder if they'll do any resolution with Yonah or if that's just kind of a side story
Recap from other movies.

Funan (2018)

20230713:
I didn't realize this movie would be a drama, and a particuarly heavy drama. With that being said, it was the first time I Instant Comments:
Lol. This one's going crazy... the movie certainly conveys the sense it's a stressful situation, but this one is buckling before others
What... this kid gets lost cause of some fallen fruit?
Stealing boat... I suppose... if one is desperate to find one's child... but the thing is... there was already a hope/promise. I feel like the negative prospects would have outweighed the positive prospects there (for example, even if they brought him back, it's likely they'd be forced to separate again; how would they be able to prevent such a situation)
I'm curious if I understand how such extreme ideals could wipe away compassion; that is, it is hard to imagine, but it's possible I've committed similar sentiments (the mom asks the "manager" to see Sovahn but is denied)
Did he really reveal his entire stash of valuables?
That's hard to watch. But... I suppose a bit of karma
Little kid smoking a cigarette... brainwashed. This word was used earlier. Perhaps that's the source of lack of compassion I questioned earlier.
Tough call. But I'd say eating to survive...
"Dying without your pity."
"Lili!" Yikes
There were two mounds. Does that mean Lili's mom died too? [Okay, so this was a bit confusing, but in combination with what's written on the Wikipedia page for Funan, it seems that Chou, Hout, Tuch, and Lili are siblings; as such Lili's mom was also Chou's mom]
What about that form of help? Is that not pity? I don't see the mom complaining to be spared in that situation...
Anticlimatic reunion.
I was afraid their kid had been brainwashed and would tell on them or something
Holy moly. Stabbed.
Wow. I'd be on hands and knees over that tree bridge.
Damn. That wind blow. Poetic end.
I didn't understand the Vietnamese involvement mentioned in the end captions ["By the end of 1978, Vietnamese leaders decided to remove the Khmer Rouge-dominated government of Democratic Kampuchea, perceiving it as being pro-Chinese and hostile towards Vietnam."]

Riddick (2013)

Instant Comments:
His body is all mangled.
Ooo... he resets the bone in his leg
Are those leeches?
I can't quite tell. Is he screwing the plate into his leg to form a cast?
I don't get it. Why would the jackal just stare at that creature
Poor Riddick just wanted to go home...
So... he just went to sleep and healed without even eating any food?
Is he doing experiments to become immune to the venom?
A bigger one?
WTF. It's eating its own entrails?
Huh. Bounty doubled if returned dead. So what would incentivize someone to bring him back alive?
WTF. Shot the released prisoner in the back?
Hehe. Riddick called it. "Leave one ship..." This Santana guy is annoyingly arrogant (he tells the incoming ship there's no problem as if they should respect it)
Well that's a false sense of security. So kill, take the key, and leave
Hehe. Plate followed by real traps We might all fit in one ship now.
Is that suppose to mean something? "My name is Johns." Is it somehow the same Johns from the first Riddick? Sure doesn't look the same.
A piece of her hair?
Hmm. As Riddick spots the missing node, I realize that the crew members need those nodes to leave. In other words, they're trapping themselves as much as they're trapping Riddick.
Hmm. Well its not exactly Santana's fault that Riddick got the nodes ("Santana, he got the fucking nodes.")
They just addressed a point which I forgot to write down. It explains why Riddick couldn't just pull a node from one ship and bring it to the other. If that was possible, they would have had to remove all the nodes and not just one from each ship. Which in turn makes the original proposition stupid since if it were possible, then why lock up a node in the first place.
I see. He knows they won't kill him because he hid their nodes.
"Will it be enough to pay for your funerals?"
Huh. Riddick puts two and two together and figures correctly that this man is Johns father. perhaps by smell
Four horse tranquilizers.
Oh no... his jackal. He's not going to be happy...
Hmm... so the viewer (well the viewer who saw the first movie) knows the truth and the father doesn't... he seems to want the truth, but likely he wouldn't believe the truth if Riddick told it... would that be the main reason Riddick witholds the truth?
Hehe. "matches your nipples"
How does this bad guy know about the "serpents"?
Famous last words: "Whatever they are, they ain't so hard to kill."
Also, that's interesting. Johns was ready to let Santana behead Riddick. But they stil would have been stranded on that planet.
"He didn't tell us what." Uh... technically he did give a fair warning though. He can't be faulted for not paying attention.
Brownie points. Into the box.
"That was five seconds."
"Is that before or after I'm supposed to fuck him?"
Hehe. Gives him a hard time on account of "no weapons"
"Jamoke"
They must have traveled a long way and they're just gonna walk it back through all these creatures? At least Riddick is immune.
Huh? He only needed one node. Why take two?
Oh Johns easily made it back from where they were. So it wasn't so far.
Whoa.Nice move. He cauterizes the wound.
Credits:
During the credits I looked up Katee Sackhoff, the actress in the role of Dahl, and apparently she's the actress that plays Bo-Katan in The Mandalorian. Even more interesting, apparently she was the voice of Bo-Katan in The Clone Wars prior to playing the part. However, it seems she's more known for her role as Captain Kara Thrace in Battlestar Galactica.

Pan (2015)

Instant Comments:
flying ship in this context seems so farfetched
im not digging this use of a rock song (as if this movie were some kind of musical)
Blackbeard
the caption reveals this persons name (the one who helps sharpen peters axe), which imo is bad captioning
have you come to kill me peter
given such a prophecy... it's interesting he doesnt straight up kill peter on the spot
here he reveals his name
what if they didnt
yes sir he is a lost boy
hmm... thus far blackbeard and hook are a bit over the top. delivering lines which often doesnt quite have the impact Id expect with slightly different delivery (e.g. earlier when Blackbeard switched to asking if Peter wants chocolate after serious philosophical rambling; I could imagine Johnny Depp doing it well)
tiger lily... hmm. I thought she was supposed to be Native American [yes, at least with respect to the character of that name in Barrie's story]; i think Hollywood changing white roles to nonwhite roles would be good, but doing the opposite is just strange.
that wood story telling was cool
some quote of death
"go, kid" ; sounds derivative of Indiana Jones (and various elements up until now included)
think a happy little thought
that's a huge crocodile (flies overhead)
is hook going to lose his hand here?
mermaids...
water memory
hmm even if hes somehow chosen one, and us able to fly, he has no fighting ability
tinkerbell
i dont get why blaclbeard wants to kill the fairies... do they not somehow create the
its not so cool when ships act more like speedboats
why dont any of them disable blackbeard in a similar way as the other pirates
hmm... would the fairies have not taken such action without Peter?
captain hook
second to the right and straight on til morning
the movie decides to leave a mystery as to how the two separate; seems uncommon... if ever there were a time to create the possibility of asequel... it'd be at the end of this movie... unless the idea would have been to create a trilogy where the sequel is where the two separate and then the third movie is something more reminiscent of their known rivalry

D.L. Hughley: Clear (2014)

20230708:
I noticed this special was leaving on the on the 13th and so I decided to watch it. I previously watched Tom Segura: Completely Normal and the style here was different. While Hughley still had themes in his jokes, the special felt more like a series of one-liners. For the most part, the content would likely be more agreeable, because most racial jokes told were about the same race as the comedian (i.e., it is generally acceptable for a person to make fun of his/her own identities in any regard* whereas jokes about identies outside of one's own identities depend much more on context).

*Though I can see people argue that this class of jokes has a tendency to perpetuate stereotypes (e.g., if an Asian comedian makes a joke about being a bad driver). However, there are anti-stereotype jokes which would fall out of the aforementioned scope (e.g., if an Asian comedian makes a joke that illustrates not all Asian are good at math).
Instant Comments:
1a: Huh. Hughley jokes that it didn't sound like it was Leonardo DiCaprio's first time saying the N word in Django Unchained.
1b: Resumed at the 22 minute mark.
1b: "These states are like tonsils"
1b: Wow. The punchline was good. Hahaha. "Can I borrow your charger, man?"
1b: Oh wow, 2013... It's been a decade that Pope Benedict resigned and Pope Francis has been the new pope...
1b: Smile. "How the fuck did the pope quit? I thought Catholics were against pulling out."; funny but I'm not sure if it's true as natural family planning appears to be allowed, so I'm not sure if they'd be against pulling out
1b: "What are you doing here with that camouflage on?" (imitates some shots fired: boof boof boof) haha

Tom Segura: Completely Normal (2014)

20230708:
I've never seen any of Tom Segura's specials before, but this one was leaving Netflix soon and so I decided to watch it. Overall, it had some funny jokes. He incorporates a lot of voices into his acts, and while not always consistent, it's still humorous. While most of his jokes are offensive in a comedic way, there are certainly some jokes that some would find distasteful - at least through a more modern lens (a lot has changed culturally since 2014.
Instant Comments:
1a: The Starbucks coffee story had a good end
1a: Haha! "I've been flying helicopters for the last forty-seven years"
1a: Oh! I couldn't put my finger on it for a while, but I finally realized Tom Segura's facial expressions and some of his mannerisms remind me of Aziz Ansari.
1a: Hahaha. His impersonation of Steven Seagal instructing
1b: Paused at about 37 minutes, but was sleepy and missed some parts. Resume back at the 27 minute mark, but I recognize up to the 31 minute mark

Kick-Ass 2 (2013)

Instant Comments:
1a: Uh... wow. Funny in the sole context of the movie, but clearly dangerous. Namely he could have moved to block the shot and be injured. And therefore very dangerous if a kid were to watch such a scene. The movie is technically rated R, but that in practice does not stop young viewers from seeing what would be considered extremely unsafe.
1a: As he's narrating and saying he was the first superhero to go public, I realized I didn't remember much and tried to look for a recap. I didn't and began watching a "Everything Wrong With Kick-Ass In 7 Minutes Or Less" YouTube video which did jog my memory. In it, there was a scene where where Big Daddy shoots Hit Girl in the chest while she's wearing a bullet-proof vest which was echoed at the beginning of this movie.
1a: LOL. What. "I became a superhero because of Kick-Ass"
1a: Ha. She was assisting with his one-arm pull-ups
1a: Oh... I forgot Christopher Mintz-Plasse was in this series. Though I thought he was a villain [technically he starts off as a superhero, but is a central antagonist, and due to the death of his father (a crime boss) would be seeking revenge
1a: Red Mist
1a: Yikes he just killed his mom on accident (and having also screamed "I... wish... you... were... dead..." in the process of it).
1a: Hahaha. The anal beads
1a: Paused at the 12 minute mark
1b: Motorcycle.
1b: Smile. "You got my soup."
1b: Huh. She's going through with the promise.
1b: Haha. His supervillain costume.
1b: "The Motherfucker"
1b: Hehe. The old man warns him about hte recoil if he doesn't hold the gun properly and a moment later he gets hit by the recoil
1b: "Maybe I'll jam my foot up your ass"
1b: Haha. She gets feelings from the music video
1b: Mindy would probably just channel some fighting
1b: The execution of Mindy's tryout was well done.
1b: Huh. What do I recognize this actor from. Oh, I think he's Wong in the Marvel series.
1b: As he's talking to the bouncer, I get the feeling Mindy shows up
1b: Ouch. That's cold. ("date ditch")
1b: Oh no... (Javier); why couldn't he just have had Chris beat up
1b: "50,000 per week, plus expenses"
1b: Huh. I would have thought glass on cop cars would be bullet proof. [it seems like the the answer is generally no, with testing of it being installed in some cars; it seems some answers floating around that an obstacle is that it's expensive, that there are cases where an officer may want to shoot through the glass, to which one would need one-way bullet-resistant glass, but that would drive the cost up even more; other reasons given is that bullet proofing material adds weight, and that aside from the glass, other elements of the car are not bullet proof either (one response in a Reddit thread mentioned his unit had "ballistic panels in our driver and passenger front doors")
1b: Paused. While away I realized that perhaps Kick-Ass's dad would become a superhero - given that he's always working out, his son questioned what for and said his dad is now useless
1b: Resume.
1b: She tears off the door and it seems to offer her some protection against the gunfire.
1b: Smile. "50,000, she's worth it."
1b: Lawnmower.
1b: Wow. His dad takes the wrap.
1b: I feel like that's a white lie where he just fights crime without an outfit or a new outfit
1b: Oh, I didn't write it down, but I knew Todd would join the bad guys. He might regret it at some point.
1b: Marcus calls out to Mindy. Is Mindy hinding under the van?
1b: LOL. How is she alive from all that fire. Just lucky? Tactical dodging? Maybe a combination?
1b: Is Kick-Ass going to wear Big Daddy's suit?
1b: Huh. Todd says "He's kidding, right?" What did he expect?
1b: Huh. Is Chris really matched for Kick-Ass?
1b: "I'm immortal. Like an evil Jesus"
1b: Moment of truth. Is it a dead shark or not.

The Chronicles of Riddick (2004)

Instant Comments:
Is that Judi Dench narrating? [yes]
Running across what appears to be a maze
Goggles. Is this Riddick?
Bounty hunter. A life ever on the run for Riddick... [in a few scenes, Riddick uses the term "Merc"]
Huh... did he really have to be a hero to save his family by sacrificing himself? Was he not willing to depend on Riddick to take action?
Dame Vaako seems familiar [I must recognize her from her role in Crash]
Yo... it's Skurge [Karl Urban; while looking through his older movies, it didn't occur to me htat he's Bones in Star Trek (2009) & the sequels and Eomer in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers & The Return of the King.]
"If you say so."
Smile. "I think it's a half gram heavy on the back end."
Smile. "Any questions?" "Yeah, what took you so long?"; it seems like he really means it
Hehe. "I think I shit myself."
Not sure what all this feeding thing is about. Huh. Similar eyes.
Huh. "It's an animal thing."
Hehe. He picks up a pin. Indicating that this item would be the next weapon of choice (as it was set down just like the tea cup).
Haha. "Should've taken the money, Toombs."; he definitely said as much
Hehe. "How come yo know all this shit. [...]" "Cause it was my plan."
Wow. There's just a handful of them?
Of course (Riddick right on top of the opening)
Wow. Super cool move. Probably with the amount of water he used, he probably should be scorched. With that being said, the look of the steam burning off after the end of the move was cool.
Wow. This character reveals he was a Furyan and proceeds to commit suicide via the schorching sun of Crematoria.
I wonder about this trope of prophecy tells of your doom by a person, so the attempt is to kill all such persons, only to have your downfall survive, and destroy you. The interesting thing is generally the person in question is trying to change fate... when the easiest change is with oneself (just stop pursuing power).
Huh. I didn't see that coming: she screams "No!!!" which indicates she was tricking Vaako and didn't want the defeat of Lord Marshal.
Oh I see. She was upset because Riddick dealt the killing blow which means he's the ruler.
