Trailers: Death on Nile (2022), Ambulance (2022), Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore (2022), Moonfall (2022), Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (2022), Uncharted (2022) - looks good, Morbius (2022)
Instant Comments:
Is that Daredevil? [Josh knew and asked me so I guessed Daredevil and he acknowledged my guess as being correct]
Why would the nanobots assimilate with Doc Oct?
Smile. Green elf.
Yahtzee!
I didn't know Sandman would be a good guy.
(mostly unreadable comment: "Insideat looks before o den")
Interesting display of Norman (talking with Aunt May)
Lol. Auto body pilot [short hand for when Peter's body moves automatically despite his consciousness being displaced]
[I liked how he swims back]
[Overall it was a satisfying fight, especially with the little celebration of math]
hehe Ned doing magic [as his grandma apparently indicated] and SPOILER Andrew Garfield good
(not sure, don't remember: "Random go ig")
oh, he's Filipino
Empire State Building vs Chrysler Building vs school rooftop
lol crack fluid
make fluid in your body

webblock
reference to Myles Morales [Josh later questioned knowing Peter Parker]

Pre Credits: I don't think the symbiote escaping makes sense [also, I didn't think about it at the time, but I'm pretty sure the amount of the symbiote makes a difference. That is, that amount of symbiote couldn't cover the average person]

Credits: COVID compliance officer
M & M's. I don't remember where this appeared.

Post Credits: WandaVision
Kind of like a trailer [it is in fact a teaser trailer that can be viewed online]
Not so interesting of end credits (compared to style of other Marvel end credits)

Don't Look Up (2021)

Instant Comments:
"Why does the ephemeris keep getting lower and lower?"
Haha. It's funny because... the statement is true and delivered with an unexaggerated tone. "It's an extinction level event." "Let's not be dramatic here."

Some credits at 11 minutes (after she grabs the bucket to puke)
World ending in six months... nomination of a supreme court nominee...
Brings back snacks and charges them...
Lol. The snacks are free... "Why the heck did he do that?"
The set up is good.
Oh, he doesn't know? (She mentioned seven months and he didn't know why)

Well... she may be the president and she may not like the situation, but she seems to be a little unprofessional or at least disrespectful of not trying to refer to Dr. Olglethorpe. "Dr. Ogilvy"? Unless that's just part of her freaking out... [Because honestly it's not a hard name to say]
Smile. She's worried about government processes... Wouldn't the better mindset be... as world set all things aside, pool resources, and attempt to make a dent in the problem? Though I'm to understand that probably they actually can't do anything about the situation.
Smile. Kate soon says "Am I to understand correctly that..."

How can information like that be made classified? Does the government have the right to do that? Wouldn't other governments have the right to know? In any case, the comet can easily be discovered by anyone so the information can easily be disseminated.
"Keep it simple. No math." "But it's all math."
"It's for a video game" she tells an eavesdropper.
This segment has some comedy (I guess in general this movie is a comedy vibe) with the celeb... and there's some social commentry regarding phone notifications and unapproved purchases

HA! She reveals she also hooked up with the same woman.
The power of Xanax.
Smile. Media training.
I guess, as he's reading responses, it's reminiscent of COVID. So many people denied COVID.
Seriously. Why would they be so aggressive with the arrest.
Smile. That's a good response "She's an anesthesiologists" he whispers as a response.
Haha. "Isn't that from Saving Private Ryan?"

Oh wow, I didn't even realize that this was Cate Blanchett until she's telling him all about herself. And if her name wasn't in the credits, I probably wouldn't have recognized at all.
Since there was no math in this launch, I'm guessing it's just a ruse?
Was the effort sabatoged by BASH?
HA! Looks up. "What the hell is that? Fucking lied to us." Like... the evidence was right there... All this time, the people decided literally to not look up?
As this BASH rocket launches, I can't help but think about the president risking her life (should the mission fail) for the opportunity of riches. And on that note, how will she be rich from BASH succeeding?
HAHA! "When we dated in college I fucked Aaron Tran." Hahaha.
"How many more?" Why didn't they just overengineer the construction? Third richest and he was skimping on development?
Hahahaha. "You have fun with Jason." "Jason? Oh shit."
So many men; though most are old.
HA! "I believe that's called a Bronteroc." Accurate prediction system (oh wait, it wasn't right for Mindy.

Frankenweenie (2012)

Overview: Victor Frakenstein loses his beloved dog and decides to bring him back.
Instant Comment:
Hahahaha "he is in the way"
Disturbing. Poop fortune telling.

How come none of the players went for the ball...
Smile. It gave the girl doggie white stripe like the Monster's Bride.
"What were you boys doing on the roof?" "Science"
Hehe he's straightforward and blunt with his speech
Hercules. Shelley [Mary Shelley is the author of the novel Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus]
Elsa van Helsing.

Victor's contraption was much more complex...
Cat bat. Freaky. At least it didn't attack the owner.
??? What type of creature is Colossus? [20220115: a hamster]
WTF Shelley a small turtle became a huge dinosaur?
I didn't say anything and Ben said "it's a dinosaur turtle" lol. Nice that the animation is clear enough that an almost three-year-old would recognize it for what it is

Encanto (2021)

20211227:
Watched the movie with Ben.

Mirabel Madrigal (Stephanie Beatriz) stands next to her family tree (top-to-bottom, left-to-right): Pedro (maternal grandfather), Alma (maternal grandmother), Félix (uncle-in-law), Pepa (aunt), Bruno (uncle), Julieta (mother), Agustín (father), Antonio (cousin), Camilo (cousin), Dolores (cousin), Isabela (sister), Luisa (sister), Mirabel (self)

20211228 Comment:
I watched the "We Don't Talk About Bruno" again. It turns out I thought Isabela was singing about having a love "betrothed to another," but it was actually Dolores who sang it. In any case, it's very fun to watch the song after having seen the film.
20211229: Started the movie again with Ada.
20220115 Comment:
As I was putting this post together, I learned from some comments that the word "madrigal" has a meaning in music. It means the following:
a part-song for several voices, especially one of the Renaissance period, typically arranged in elaborate counterpoint and without instrumental accompaniment
Abuela Alma Madriga (María Cecilia Botero, singing voice: Olga Merediz)

20220627:
I watched bits and pieces of Encanto today. I decided not to take any notes but I definitely noticed tiny details here and there. The following are some tidbits I recall:
- I'm curious how the Spanish version of this line goes: "Abre los ojos. Open your eyes." Some possibilities: "[different language]. Abre los ojos," "Abre los ojos. Abre los ojos," or "Abre los ojos. [silence]." [In "Espanol (Latinoamerica)" audio, she says "Abre los ojos. Tie (?). Abrelos."]
- Abuela sounds like she has an accent but the kids do not sound like they do when I think it should be consistent
- She sings "Where all the people are fantastical and magical" [I originally took this to mean they all had powers, but really these are adjectives that apply to normal persons as well]

Instant Comments:
3a: Are they triplets then? [Yes]
8: When Mirabel picks up her dress, it's next to a sewing machine (which I notice now because I recently read about Mirabel being a seamstress; her dress is adorned with references to the family and butterflies)
3a: Technically just them getting married doesn't make abuela an abuela.
1: The first song started off not so interesting but ended well
1: I feel like not having a gift is a gift; especially since some of these gifts feel like a double-edged sword
1: Ugh, this grandma not wanting Mirabel to ruin things...
8: when Mirabel opens the drawer to get Antonio's gift, we see the drawer is full of yarn (again, I noticed because I recently read about Mirabel being a seamstress)
3a: I briefly wondered about the choice to have Antonio ask Mirabel to accompany him. But it simultaneously is used to flash back to Mirabel and perhaps create some tension and release tension that Mirabel is somehow jinxed.
8: There are different facial expressions as a reaction to Mirabel taking Antonio's hand
8: Hmm. "We have a new gift!" I feel like the best way to leverage granting of new gifts is to increase the number of children.
1: Mirabel's song during this time pause is decent
3a: Arguably Pepe never shows the ability to control her emotions to help, at least not that I remember.
3a: Luisa has a useful ability tied with her mom.
8: Huh. It occurs to me as she sings "I'm waiting on a miracle" and how at the end of the movie the theme is "the miracle is you." This had me wonder about her name, and I read "Mirabel" means "wonderful." 2a: The house starts cracking and Ben says "oh no!" I asked him what's happening and he said "It was breaking."
3a: How did the cracks disappear?
1: What was the abuela's gift? [i.e., why would she put so much pressure on having a gift, if she herself doesn't have a gift]
3a: She's not wearing glasses in her sleep
3a: Does Camilo also shift his parts?
2a: Dolores tells Mirabel, "The only one worried about the magic is you. and the rats talking in the walls." [20220115: She continues saying, "Oh, and Luisa, I heard her eye twitching all night."; ha! she heard Luisa's eye twitching!!!]
3a: And the rats talking in the walls

Mirabel and Bruno Madrigal (John Leguizamo)

8: How does Dolores not go crazy with her hearing. Her ability to focus on the Guzman's seems like there exists control, yet also she heard Luisa's eye twitching all night
2a: Wasn't Isabela sitting on the other side of the table. How did she bump into Mirabel?
1: Whoa this song of Luisa's is awesome. ["Surface Pressure"]
2a: Ah, she sings about if there wasn't as much pressure she could relax
2a: Haha. Unicorn donkeys
3a: Hehe Luisa's position after the song
2a: Hehe she reminds me a little of Lil Dicky when she says "magic but no" (when she is going up Bruno's room)
1: How will she get back? (after swinging across)
1: Hehe "quitter!"
3a: How did she get down from the tower?

(most of) The Madrigal Family

1: Haha, Luisa crying about weakening
3a: Oh, Camilo actually did momentarily grow big, but then returns to a normal sized Bruno. Maybe seven foot frame is like a feeling.
1: "We Don't Talk About Bruno" is a cool song
8: Isabela sings about how her powers would grow.
2a: Oh, during the song, Dolores sings that she hears Bruno
2a, 8: Dolores then sings again, "It's like I hear him, now."
1: During the song, it is sung that Bruno foresaw that she wouldn't get married [20211228: I got Isabela and Dolores mixed up.]
1: Haha, smile, Dolores hears Mirabel's dad whispering; 3a, 8: Smile. "I know" (Dolores hears Mirabel's dad whispering
8: OMG. I just realized that randomly people must be having sex throughout the town. Does Dolores hear all that?

Luisa Madrigal (Jessica Darrow) sings about the pressure she feels in "Surface Pressure"

2a: Paused the film at the dinner
2b: Resumed at the dinner
8: Ben laughing at the dinner.
9b: continue with the movie (Mirabel is chasing Bruno)
3a: I guess there's no reason for him to be entirely familiar with the gaps, but perhaps he should know most... Regardless I guess it makes for a good joke
8: "I used to say my real gift was 'acting.'" Huh. The notion of "real gift" here.
3a: It suggests he patches the cracks but he cant be doing such a good job that the cracks seem to disappear...
9b: telenovela. I think I read a comment on this once where televisions probably didn't exist at the time, and as such telenovelas did not exist, so for Bruno to reference such a thing somehow suggests he's seen it in a vision. However, more likely it's just a funny joke
3b: Resumed at Mirabel implores Bruno to tell her
8: "You left to protect me?" He left to protect her.
8: I previously wondered why is gift would require other materials - since how would he know to make such preparations in the first place
2b: That creature just sits there while the wind blows against Bruno and Mirabel [capybara; the minor character is named Chispi]
8: Bruno tells her "You're exactly what this family needs. You just have to see it."
8: Hehe. "Luisa can't lift an empanada
8: During this scene (Mirabel talks to Isabela) I wondered what a live action version of the movie would be like and then I thought the movie would lose a lot of the fun offered by the animation. Then I thought about all the other live action adaptations. Why is it that there is a craving for these adaptations.
1: Hehe she confesses not wanting to marry the guy and makes a cactus
3b: During Isabela's song, there's a part where the flowers on the wall act like her shadow
2b: What a great little snippet: "Careful, it's carnivorous."
2b: Oh, Mirabel sings the Isabela/Dolores melody from "We Don't Talk About Bruno"

Isabel Madrigal (Diane Guerro) and Mirabel at the end of "What Else Can I Do?"

1: Great song for Isabella ["What Else Can I Do?"]
8: The house clearly became fixed and the candle strong when Mirabel hugged Isabela. Then it darkens first when Mirabel is affected by her abuela's words. And it gets worse as she begins to speak back.
1: The house rejects everyone's help except Mirabel's [20220606: see next comment]
2b: I guess technically it didn't reject the help of others. But it didn't exactly enable their attempts. In contrast, it directly allowed Mirabel access.
3b: Oh when the house is falling apart, Isabel and Camilo lose their powers. So then the house saves them. Whereas Mirabel isn't relying on any powers [which is in part the reason of her success]
7b: Resume at the 75 minute mark
3b: Oh, I wondered why it's dos. [Answer: it's the husband and wife]
8: "[something something gift] He sent me you."
3b: My favorite part of this song is that Bruno says the thing with Pepe was just a joke.
1,2b: Ha! "Yo I knew he never left I heard him everyday." [2b: I love the look on her face as she says this]; 8: the look on her face after she says this
9b: Her expression after she says this "Yo I knew he never left I heard him everyday" was as if she didnt realize what she said until after she had said it
8: I've noticed this before but apparently never noted it: the seasons change in the back. Maybe a year.
3b: Haha kid drinks coffee and hammers down multiple nails
2b: "You're so strong." "Yeah, but sometimes I cry." "So do I."
2b: "The miracle is you, not some gift, just you" ["All of You"]
7b: Bruno with his bucket on
8: "You're the real gift kid, let us in."
7b: Huh. I know the whole thing is that Mirabel doesn't need a gift. But I just noticed how she's the main person on the front door, which in a way represents the magic that she contributes to power the house (which comes to life after the knob is inserted) [someone on Reddit pointed out that the door on Mirabel's old room was glowing like the others. there's also some other interesting comments such as how the house's condition seems closely connected to Mirabel's feelings]
8: Pepa is happily dancing in the rain. Speaking of which, I realized that the first part of what Bruno had revealed was that what he said on her wedding day wan't a prophecy, but I never noticed really how the second part is the reason: he wanted her to embrace all her emotions and not have to suppress negative feelings (which would conjure up storms and the like)

Unison of Camilo (part 2), Pepa and Felix (part 2) without "But anyway," truncated Isabela (part 1) with "And I'm fine...," and Dolores (part 2) with "And I'm fine...":
Camilo: A seven-foot frame, rats along his back

Mirabel: Why did I talk about Bruno?
All: Not a word about Bruno
Mirabel: I never should've brought up Bruno!

The Madrigal Family. left to right: Luisa, Isabela, Julieta (Angie Cepeda),  Agustín (Wilmer Valderrama), Abuela Alma, Mirabel, Bruno, Antonio (Ravi Cabot-Conyers), Pepa, Félix, Dolores

*Dolore's part in this first half is difficult to hear on the DisneyMusicVEVO music video. I can barely make out the "Ch Ch Ch." In the movie, I'm able to also hear "Do you understand" in addition to the "Ch Ch Ch." It can clearly be heard in the soundtrack and the lyric video. With that being said, I have poor speakers and will have to try again with the movie version using a good pair of headphones.
**When trying to listen, I couldn't hear Dolores's part. Upon watching the lyric video, apparently it's because she sings in unison with Isabela.

It's A Wonderful Life (1946)

Mary Hatch (Donna Reed), George Bailey (James Stewart), and Zuzu Bailey (Karolyn Grimes)

Reason for Watching:
Most popular movie on JustWatch (with respect to my choice of filters on ratings and platforms). Also I've never seen it before.

20211222:
I'm a little surprised that this is the first time I've seen the film. In fact, I don't think I've even seen bits and parts of it. However, I am familiar with the quote at the end ("[...] every time a bell rings, an angel gets his wings").

George and Clarence (Henry Travers)

On a different topic, I was looking for screenshots and came across screenshots of hte colorized version of the movie. It was very strange to see them.
Instant Comments: Oh wow. So he did good. Without the context of his boss confirming the mistake, it could have been that the use was intended.
Hehe. Violet's still attracted to George

Mary

"Hey this is my dance." "Why don't you stop annoying people."
Smile. "Get out of the...oh well."
Hahaha. "Youth is wasted on the wrong people."
Wow. Gave up his opportunity... Considering the movie Soul, it's not terrible considering...

George

What an unfortunate set of events... His uncle loses the $8000. It falls into the hands of Potter. A rumour about him and Violent... Just ridiculous. And to arguably the nicest man in town.
Hehe. George catches on too slow. (doesn't understand why Mr. Gower is in such bad shape)
Makes the cash register ring several times. "I'm giving out wings."

Uncle Billy (Thomas Mitchell) and George

"You see George, you really had a wonderful life."
Hehe as he's so happy to see his kids... I can't help but wonder what Nicolas Cage would have been like in this role.
As people are coming in with the money, I'm getting teary eyed. So beautiful.
I didn't understand what the paper being ripped up was for. Apparently it was the Sheriff with a warrant for George's arrest (and he ripped up the warrant)

George and Violet (Gloria Grahame)

"Look, Daddy! Teacher says every time a bell rings, an angel gets his wings."

Ron's Gone Wrong (2021)

Overview: Everybody has the new B-bot - a robot designed to make friends (like an automated Facebook). Everybody except Barney Pudowski. One day, however, Barney finally gets his own B-bot - one that's been damaged and behaves differently from the other B-bots. While defective, it actually manages to be doing what the B-bot developer Marc Weidell envisioned of his invention: be a friend.

RONB1N5CAT5CO "Ron" (Zach Galifianakis) and Barney Pudowski (Jack Dylan Grazer)

Instant Comments:
7.6 Newtons
Maybe turn it off and on again?
This bot laughing is funny.
"The settings have not been uploaded."

Noah (Cullen McCarthy), Rich (Ricardo Hurtado), Savannah (Kylie Cantrall), and Ava (Ava Morse)

This character sounds familiar ("you don't even know where school is!") [Oh, he's the voice of Alberto from Luca]
"Invite everyone except Savannah"
Hahahaha. "It pooped me."
Uh. I don't think a teacher/principal is supposed to scream at a kid like that.

Barney's father (Ed Helms) and grandmother (Olivia Colman)

"Friendship is a two-way street"
"Returning myself to the facility"
They brought the goat.
Not sure why Ron would have to sacrifice himself...

Soul (2020)

Overview: A middle-school band teacher named Joe gets the opportunity to play in a famous jazz band. But his dream gets cut short when he has an accident and finds himself en route to the other side. There he meets an unborn soul 22 and the two end up changing the other's perspective on life.

Joe Garner (Jamie Foxx)

20211218 Comment:
Unable to interpret Dorothea's story with satisfaction, I looked online for other interpretations. I came upon a webpage that put enough context to the story for it to make more sense. One point I took away is that despite the older fish's experience, the younger fish remains doubtful of the response. But perhaps the more important point is that often times, we find ourselves, like the younger fish, in search of something that is in fact right in front of us. In scope of the movie,
Terry (Rachel House)

Instant Comments:
Ha "I'd say no"
Hehe breaking people in the zone
Interesting similarity between in the zone and lost souls
Weird, he retains thoughts as himself but 22 gets access to it as well from the brain

22 (Tina Fey)

Smile. Confusing spark with purpose.
I don't exactly follow the ocean story:
Dorothea: What's wrong teach?
Joe: It's just I've been waiting on this day for my entire life. I thought I'd feel different.
Dorothea: I heard this story about a fish. He swims up to this older fish and says, "I'm trying to find this thing they call the ocean." "The ocean?" says the older fish, "that's what you're in right now." "This?" says the younger fish, "This is water. What I want is the ocean."

Happy ending...

Post Credits:
Terry says the movie is over and tells the audience to go home

Welcome to Earth

S1E1
Holy crap, I'd not want to crawl in such tight spaces
This hearing the water drop in near silence is interesting
Naturally nothing. That's intense...
Lol WTF 14 inches. [20211218: Can't remember what this refers to]
20211212 5:15PM

The Mandalorian

Overview: A Mandalorian bounty hunter is hired to retrieve "The Child," but has a change of heart and goes on the run in order to protect it.
The Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal), Greef Karga (Carl Weathers), and Cara Dune (Gina Carano)

overall... not a spectacular ending like season 1, and I dont remember season 2, but at least there was closure.
S1E1
Hehe. I have spoken.
For the best, he doesn't seem the best. He seems lucky to be alive. He does show some talent though.
I thought the request was to have the target be alive. Maybe the droid got a different request.
20211212

The Mandalorian (S1E1)

S1E2
hehe the Child eats the frog-like creature
it is interseting to have your parts stolen and have to trade to get them back...
wow. force lift the huge rhino-like creature. not sure if I'm impressed since it's a 50 year old child... hahaha
how does this person have so much skill. ability to repair a spacecraft. [his name is Kuiil]
20211213

Kuiil (voiced by Nick Nolte)

S1E3
"It's not a toy."
Is he implying that the Beskar comes from melted down armor?
Watching these Beskar armor upgrades, I feel like this is a game just waiting to be made.
Lol great stealth elements. "Check the perimeter."
How do the whispering birds know what to target?

The Mandalorian in new gear (S1E3)

Literally everyone has a tracking fob for the Child. Thought Greef Karga was exaggerating.
Hah! I was thinking that his flamethrower must have finite fluid in such a small capacity and sure enough he runs out in that moment.
What does this mean: "We're going to have to relocate the covert." [it's where they were hiding]
Hehe. Saved by the Beskar.
Smile. "I gotta get one of those" (jetpacks); again, very fitting in a game that one of the upgrades be a jetpack.
20211215

The Child sipping some soup (S1E4)

S1E4
I suppose for cinematic purposes raising the basket makes sense.
Smile. "Stop touching things." Proceeds to touch something.
Hehe. Sipping soup. (So much for the bartender watching him/her)
I'm glad that other fighter didn't die. That would have been sad.

Cara Dune and The Mandalorian stop to look at The Child

Smile. Another frog.
Hmm. That doesn't make sense to leave the Child here. I thought they're specifically tracking the Child...
How exactly do those tracking fobs work? How do they track a specific living being?
20211215

The Mandalorian on a speeder bike

S1E5
Quite a maneuver... And "that's my line" hehe
Smile "and then I'm gonna charge him extra for watching you"
How does Mando know that the tracking fob wasn't really for the Child.
This kid isn't half dumb... though I feel as if his chance against Mando is low. He shouldn't have been so greedy. He should have just taken the free ticket into the Guild.
Huh. What is that ending about?
I love these end credit drawings of scenes from the film
20211215

Xi'an (Natalia Tena), The Mandalorian, Burg (Clancy Brown), and Migs Mayfield (Bill Burr) (S1E6)

S1E6
Whoa. It's Bill Burr.
Hehe. It backfired on them.
Hehe. A second door? Is that common?
Haha. He looks at his hands thinking he may have killed droid.

The Child looks at his hand

Whatever happened to the homing beacon. Their time must have already been up but no one came... [it's kind of answered later; time did seem stretched out]
Oh, he managed to keep this guy Qin alive.
20211215

S1E7
The Child chokes Cara.
The Child heals Greef.

The Child executes a force choke

Oh no! Quiil!
The end credits depict some scenes at angles that wouldnt be seen during the show.
20211219

S1E8
This conversation between troopers is hilarious.
They miss the object several times. And never succeed.

Greef Karga meets up with Kuiil, The Mandalorian, and Cara

What overkill. Why didn't he (Moff Gideon) just have them just storm in
What's with this pile of helmets?
Signet: [Oh it's a mudhorn]
Hehe the armourer gets a little fight sequence.

IG-11 (voiced by Taika Waititi)

Interestingly Mando seems upset about the droid....
I feel like... maybe they could have pulled the bomb out and throw it...
Haha. "Do the magic hand thing" "Hi"
20211219

S2E1
The Child closes his travel pod
Hehe. "That wasn't part of the deal."
It's like riding into a town one would see in an old Western movie, somewhat empty, and all the people staring
Okay, this bartender and the marshal are playing into this theme
How would that have worked. If they were going to attack each other, why would there be any pause involved?
He references the explosion of the second death star
"I guess every once in a while both suns shine on a womp rat's tail." - Cobb
Hehe. Oops. So much for the bantha (the krayt dragon ate the Tusken Raider)
Oh wow. Acid
Wow. Smart creature. It repositioned to spit acide from up high
Maybe aim for the eye?
Did he choose to get eaten too?
Lol. He did choose to get swallowed. What a gutsy move
Ooo. A krayt dragon pearl
20230114

S2E2
I loved how Mando was able to react and land on his feet
The Child's mouth gapes open wide
Would that person have lived had they chosen a less valuable item? (well it's possible he/she is just unconscious depending on the height of the drop)
Oh no. The Child nabbed an egg and ate it
Holy moly. He was able to lose them.
Wow. Resourceful (and apparently she underestands English)
Hehe. Yucky (the Child opening the egg sac and eating one of the eggs)
Did the Child trigger the other eggs hatching or was it just a coincidence?
Hehe. She switches to leaping
Would it make sense for a spider-like creature to be so persistent to pursue its fleeing prey?
Mando wants to trade his bounties of the the three criminals in exchange for getting his ship fixed. But the New Republic pilot refuses the offer and simply requests that Mando fix his transponder.
HA! The Child somehow managed to swipe an egg and pops it into his mouth as the episode cuts away to the credits.
20230114

S2E3
Hahahaha. Almost made it to the landing pad
In the first episode there was a man that was watching. In this episode there's a woman watching.
Wow. Having Beskar armour is supposed to be helpful and yet it puts a big red target on your back
Hmm. So... different clans and paths of Mandalorians? [Bo-Katan] told Mando that he was part of the Children of the Watch.
An egg hatched!
"At least ten, maybe more."
I love how they briefly flash their use of heat vision (I wish the equivalent of this was done in She-Hulk for Daredevil)
Smile. Haha. "Cargo control area"
Ooo. Ahsoka Tano.
Awww. The Child giggles when Mando catches the "starfish"
The Child slurps down a tentacle
20230114

S2E4
Ha. Smile. Cute. At first I thought it wouldn't make sense that there would be sections of the ship not easily serviceable to a person. But then I thought about a car, and how it must be the case that certain parts can only be serviced if the car was first dismantled. In any case, it's interesting that the Child partially understands.
The repairmen gave Mando a look
Haha. Stole the snacks (with the Force).
Mythrol gave them a shifty look on the way over
Huh. The Troopers aren't such bad shots when it comes to hitting Mando who's armored and standing in plain site...
I thought that craft was falling vertically and somehow it managed to level out?
The caption is "The Child giggles excitedly"
Very cute (the Child's responses during the dogfight).
I'm guessing the ship is bugged ["tracking beacon"]
20230116 AM

S2E5
A: After watching S3E5, I returned to this episode for Ada to see Ahsoka and the magistrate (Morgan Elsbeth)
1: For the most part, this live action version of Ahsoka looks the part with the exception of the lekku which looks too much like a headdress as opposed to being a part of her head.
1: Is the tracking beacon in the replaced knob? The Child wants it
1: Hehe. He's beginning to unscrew it with the Force
1: Whoa. Her light saber didn't cut through his armor.
1: Ahsoka reveals to Mando that the child is named Grogu.
1: Take out the knob...
1: Huh. Morgan Elsbeth disarms one of Ahsoka's blades. That would seem unlike the ability of a Jedi versus even the most skilled combatant. But for the sake of the tension of the battle, sure. [I read an article on screenrant which gives different reasons for why Ahsoka seemed to struggle against the magistrate
A: hehe, Ahsoka loses one of her blades
A: Ahsoka disarms Elsbeth (interesetingly, the same two set of events happened in Ahsohka)
1: How foolish of this guy. What did he have to gain from killing Mando as opposed to just surrendering?
A: "Tell me where is Grand Admiral Thrawn"
1=20230116 AM, A=20231022

S2E6
Whoa. Grogu is like... in the zone.
Boba Fett. He was the one in the other episode. Apparently he's come for his father's suit - the one that Cobb was wearing. Though how did he track Mando and why didn't he just intercept Mando sooner? [oh, he was also the one who saved Fennec]
Ha. "Nice shot. "I was aiming for the other one."
Holy moly. (Mando's ship gets blasted)
Hahaha. Grogu is Force pushing the two storm troopers around
And a Force choke.
20230116 AM

S2E7
I guess walkers look cool. But would they have any advantages over wheeled vehicles?
I didn't mention in the other episode. But I was definitely looking forward to Bill Burr's reappearance.
There was reddit post where the OP opined that viewers should refer to Mando by name. I would counter and say that the viewers should refer to Mando in the same manner that others in the show refer to him. I think it is implied that people refer to him as such, because that's how he wants to be addressed, and as a viewer, we are allowed to call the character as such. Of course, being a ficticious character, I think that it's ultimately appropriate to call the character whatever one pleases - unless the creator of the character explicitly states a preference.
I love how these tanks don't have locked doors (similar to how spaceships never seem to require keys)
This character is so fit for Bill Burr. The way he reasons about Mandalorians vs the Empire and then reasons about "Showing face" vs "Taking off helmet".
The blaster runs out.
Hehe. He tries the scan with his helmet on. But then due to the system shutdown he takes his helmet off and we get to see it for the second time.
Mayfeld gets the pleasure of seeing Mando's face
What's Mayfeld's strategy here. Just talking straight or does he have a purpose. Does he want to kill this guy?
Okay. And there it is. Lol.
Smile. "We all need to sleep at night"
Huh. He's just gonna find his way around starting from whatever planet he's on with absolutely no money? I would have thought at least they keep him around and drop him off somewhere
20230117

S2E8
Oh the recap refers to an "M-count" - the midichlorian count. I totally miss that
I don't understand how coordinates work. Can't Moff Gideon just move away from that location? [I did some searching and it took a while before finding an answer. The screenrant article first notes that Mando's warning message doesn't make sense strategically. Which I would say implies Gideon could have indeed decided to evade. The article, however, goes on to explain how Gideon clearly had a plan and thus intentionally decided not to evade.]
Son of a mudscuffer.
What I don't understand is why Mando can't just give Bo-Katan the Darksaber [it is explained soon enough]
Haha. "I yield. It's yours." Funny, but true. What truly defines combat? After all, Moff Gideon could have just pretended to battle and lose. Pretending to battle is really no different than not battling.
What kind of metal are their hands made of that allow them to break down a blast door without taking damage in return.
Hehe. The look on Gideon's face ("A Jedi?")
Is Bo-Katan alive after that? I would imagine so, but it also looked like some of those shots might have pierced her armor
Wow. He was ready to shoot himself.
Why did the droids stop? Despite the Jedi approaching, shouldnt they have continued trying to come in?
I guess the reveal wasn't exciting because I already knew.
Aww. He takes off his mask for Grogu.
R2-D2
The credits role without the usual music and drawings
After the credits we see Boba Fett and Fennec Shand enter Jabba the Hutt's palace. Fett kills Bib Fortuna. Fett takes the seat. The Book of Boba Fett. Coming December 2021.

20230902

S3E2
it's interesting that he still believes in the ways... to try and redeem himself. speaking of which, while the waters have theoretically been destroyed, I feel there should have been a replacement... kind-of silly not to make up new rules to adapt with events
how does Grogu's hover pod work? how much weight can it lift?
she saw a real sea creature (how can such a creature survive?) [Mythosaur]
20230903

S3E3
Grogu babbles after Mando and Bo Kitan said "This is the Way."
Hehe. Grogu closes his pod.
Travel biscuits
Hmm. I feel like perhaps this woman helping Dr. Pershing must have been planted there to facilitate/egg Dr. Pershing into continuing his research
Huh the look on her face seems to indicate possibly betrayal. But that would be a weird direction. ("Good" she replies)
Hmm. I don't remember this woman [Elia Kane] who betrayed him. And clearly she has some additional motivation to turn the machine up and fry Doctor Pershing's brain
20230904

S3E4
hermit crabs flee
hahaha. strapping on darts onto his tiny arm
haha "he doesn't know how to fire darts?"
"one doesn't speak unless one knows"
why would the creature keep its capture alive?
hehe gotta go away to take off helmet to eat food... (so taking off means taking off in front of others... I think that was clear from earlier in the series but I forgot)
hehe he says as the leader of the war party she gets to stay by the fire
Bo Katan loses a piece of armour
the Armourer notices Katan's missing armour
Katan requests to wear one Mythosaur
she asks the Armourer about seeing a real Mythosaur... the Armourer seems not to believe her but ends with "This is the way"
1=20231022

S3E5
hmm... this bad person
interesting. this Captain [Captain Teva] sees all the events as related and worth looking into
huh... Armourer asks her to remove her helmet
she mentions the Mythosaur
while beskar alloy does associate with Mandalorian... could easily be anybody in the universe. Mandalorians don't have a monopoly on beskar, right?
1=20231022

S3E6
"basic"
"taken control of the ship" the amount of compatibility required...
is that Lizzo? [yes]
snort. "he doesnt take kindly to strangers" + jumps
oh that's Jack Black.
whoa. Christopher Llyod. what is this episode? the celebrity spree episode?
"any of them look suspicious?" yeah, all of them. (that was my response, soon after Din says "They all look suspicious")
I'm waiting for the barkeep to say "we don't serve your kind here" [Star Wars: A New Hope: "Hey! We don't serve their kind here."
smile. "I don't think they get many of our kind here"
hehe Grogu helps
hmm. I never get that trope. person A spares life of person B, expecting person B to yield, but person B struggles out of it. typically person A gets the upperhand again and still wins, but why doesn't person B respect the situation? From an entertainment point of view, it makes for an exciting and drawn out fight. But realistically I see it as lacking honor
lol... crazy Mandalorians (Din points out the series of defeats... it's like the wandlore in Harry Potter)
1=20231027

S3E7
he mentions Grand Admiral Thrawn
Moff Gideon doubtful of Admiral Thrawn returning... hasn't heard anything
huh. Moff speaking in the center... how would that work? what does the call look like for everyone else? [20231122: I found a Stack Exchange post that questions the same problem. The one answer given suggested that it could just be software based. For example, if Person A looks at Digital Person B, then the software will show for everyone else Digital Person A looking at Digital Person B or Person B. The answer is convincing enough to believe.]
so serious and tense
"bad baby. no squeezie"
hahaha "no" "no" "yes" "no"
hahaha
Grogu has really good instinct on operation
repeatedly pressing yes
well it makes Grogu more mobile without the cradle... but less protected
hehe didn't see that coming: Grogu jumps in and repeatedly presses "no"
uh... I... recommend don't follow cause this is a trap
okay... so before I asked why don't other persons in the galaxy use beskar. it seems Gideon here is smart to take advantage [I just read that beskar is extremely rare and heavy; as such, most beskar comes in the form of being handed down families][but what use would the great forge be if beskar was rare?]
1=20231028

S3E8
huh. how did Grogu get to Din?
I just realized... do projections in midair make sense... like when in shows of light, I think it requires water or glass
destroyed Moff Gideon clones
Gideon explains the clones were for using the force
Grogu "no no no"
Grogu jumping around
Grogu begins using force to assist
Grogu force shield [I told Ada that Grogu used the shield before but this one seems more powerful. I later read that he used it in the Season 1 finale to protect himself, Din, and Cara, but indeed this one was stronger]
I wonder if there were any easter eggs I'm not aware of in the helmets

Onward (2020)

Overview: Two brothers set out on a quest to bring their dad back for a day and discover magic in the process of doing so.

20211215 Comment:
I read a reddit thread debating the 24-hour timer and one of the responses gave a reasonable defense to the rules of the visitation spell. In essence, the spell is putting a cap on the father's ability to visit the Earth ever, but they didn't get it right the first time and want to get the rest of the body.
Instant Comments:
1a: Stopped where he has a conversation with his dad.
1b: Hehe they have wings and don't think they can fly
1b: Haha put it in O for Onward.
1b: You'll never be ready, merge!

1b: Interesting spell mechanics with lies
1b: Ah, busted. Screw up vs not. Well his tone did seem to be honest.
1b: Hahaha the top half of the dance.
1b: Hehe 10 to 10000.
1b: Nice manticore sting.
1b: Oh no hehehe no more rope.

1b: "I needed that rope." "Oh but did you."
1b: Nice. I figured he did at least some of those along the way but apparently he did all of them. And that the last one was a realization with his brother which I didnt realize.
1b: That's epic. The ending of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings should have been like this.
1b: I feel like the top half should stay for another 24. Seems unfair for the top half to be bound to the 24 hr clock of the bottom half
1b: Wilden the Whimsical
1a=20211204, 1b=20211205

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

Overview: Sam Wilson takes the shield given to him by Captain America and gives it to the government. Bucky Barnes isn't happy with this, the government names a new Captain America, and an anti-nationalist group called the Flag Smashers consists of new Super Soldiers.

Sam Wilson / Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes / Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan)

S1E1
1a: Started watching this first episode but stopped because Ben came down so I switched to watching beginning of Onward.
1b: Resume episode (Barnes shoots a man and wakes up from a nightmare).
1b: Three rules.
1b: Strange doctor. (James then said your a terrible shrink)

John Walker / Captain America (Wyatt Russell)

1b: Probably he hangs out with Yori to make amends for killing his kid
1b: Avengers dont get paid? At least Sam should be paid by the government I thought [it comes up in the scene at the bank]
1b: He never quite answered the managers question. Really, just good will.
1b: Sam does seem to be acting selfish with regards to keeping the boat
1a=20211204, 1b=20211209

S1E2
Well at least he has some credentials and seems to be pretty good with throwing the shield
Lol. So bucky comes in out of the blue saying things to sam and he doesnt like it, you have no right he says, and yet he did kind of thr same to his sister
Androids aliens wizards
Hahaha the hobbit.
He's really good with that shield.

Karli Morgenthau (Erin Kellyman)

Honestly, i dont know how Falcon has the right to be upset. He did the disrespect of giving away the shield in the first place.
Lol couples therapy.
What a strange group of bad guys. They seem hardly organized.
This guy just stupidly sacrificed himself...
So apparently Super Soldiers are just like being or really advanced steroids so in particular not bullet proof. So defeating these Super Soldiers is... only hard because story.
1=20211209

S1E3
Zemo. Maybe he was in the second Captain America movie
Sharon. I think that's the daughter of Steve's love interest. [Sharon Carter]
Well, I guess Zemo's beliefs, makes sense for him to kill that scientist.
Zemo in the mask dealing some damage. Did they not know? Is there an implication?
Destroy it?! He's just not quite confident to take up the shield.
1=20211209

Helmut Zemo (Daniel Brühl)

S1E4
Oh no, John Walker ruined the conversation
Interessting that Zemo, the essential villain, is the one to destroy the vials and John Walker, a person meant to be "good" has stolen the vial.
Zemo notes that Sam didn't hesitate to say no to the thought of the serum
Hehe "they werent even Super Soldiers"

Sharon Carter (Emily VanCamp)

Hehe, the way he asked, "what's with all the knives?"
Their faces turn like in the trailer... what i mean is its that shot from the trailer
Oh no John Walker is now gone insane (seeing his friend gone)
Damn, insanity cemented with a head smash.
That bloody shield is quite a shot.
1=20211220

S1E5
Val has quite a personality here compared to end of Black Widow.
I'm guessing the suit will already be Captain America branded.
Post credits john is working on... a shield?
1=20211220

S1E6
I thought Walker would have more combat training than Karli. How did he lise in a 1 on 1
Huh Sharon is the power broker... why would she risk revealing herself though
This monologue is... a bit much?
A little comedic relief from Bucky

Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus)

Hahahaha maybe I did.
She gives him the name US agent (which I read about a couple weeks ago on the comic characters Wikipedia page)
Ended with a reasonable amount of closure.
