20170731:
My first exposure to the LEGO media franchise was LEGO Star Wars and I loved the way the series told the Star Wars story through the eyes of the LEGO world and with a touch of humor.
In any case, the LEGO continues to deliver high quality entertainment with The LEGO Batman Movie. This wasn't just a great Batman film, but a great family film, a great superhero film, and a great action film!
Overall, I would recommend The LEGO Batman Movie to just about anyone!
Remark: The LEGO Movie (2014) is worth checking out prior to watching The LEGO Batman Movie due to Batman's appearance in it and because it establishes his personality in the LEGO Movie Universe.

Jack and the Cuckoo-Clock Heart (2013)
20170724:
I decided to watch this animation today and mainly enjoyed it for its music, because I was less fond of the animation - at least at the start of the film.
As the film progressed, it achieved a stronger sense of cohesion and built itself into something wonderful.
Overall, a movie that's rough around the edges isn't worthy of a strong recommendation to all, but I would note that any fan of The Nightmare Before Christmas should consider watching Jack and the Cuckoo-Clock Heart.
Netflix determined the movie for me as a 92% match. I decided to give the movie neither a thumbs up nor a thumbs down.
[20170819]
Instant Comments:
The lip movement isn't well animated.
Some of the initial music clashes with the ambiance of the movie.
I didn't realize this movie would be a musical.
This duet between Jack and the girl was beautiful.
Oh my gosh. I wonder how this movie will end.
George Melies. (director of A Trip to the Moon)
Backdrop references A Trip to the Moon.
I think the music that plays is the same music as A Trip to the Moon.
Ah, the windmills from earlier reminded me of Don Quixote and here George Melies references Don Quixote.
Holy crap. (That ending.)

The Prestige (2006)
20170721:
From the point of view of 2017, strange that it's released in 2006. Part of me wants to say it felt like an older movie. But of course I knew I watched it after graduating high school, so logically it couldn't have been released before the year 2004.
I recall being confused the first time I watched it, but I also enjoyed it. This viewing was different since I knew the outcome, and I don't think I enjoyed it that much, but it still had its moments.
Netflix determined the movie for me as a 93% match. I decided to give the movie neither a thumbs up nor a thumbs down.
Instant Comments:
The beginning is totally different having watched the movie before.
17 minutes. Self-sacrifice. If you've seen the movie before.
"He killed it." [...] "But where's his brother?"
"You're the lucky one today."
Couldn't they have made a better fail-safe?
"I don't know"
"Say it again." "I love you." "Not today."
"How can he not know?"
55 minutes. If you've seen the movie before.
I thought part of the argument against Bourden was that he didn't try to save Angier.
"Are you watching closely?"
"I lied. He said it was agony."

Henry (2015)
20170720:
Today I watched my first VR film and it was marvelous. In addition to the great story, the experience showed how the viewer can be embedded into the scene as opposed to simply watching the scene through some fourth wall.
A subtle moment that I took great pleasure in was the appearance of a lady bug which crawls under the table. In traditional film, the lady bug would then be forever out of view. However, due to the medium of VR, I was able (of my own choice) to duck and peer under the table in order to view the lady bug. While this particular example didn't add any additional meaning to the film, it is an example of the type of door which VR opens.
Overall, while the novelty played a part in my enjoyment of the short, the story was also good and I would highly recommend anybody who has access to a Rift or Gear VR to check out the film.
Instant Comments:
When I was placed onto the rug I began looking around and I tried to move around. The video would get gray as I approached certain boundaries. I was unsure if these coincided with my Guardian System Boundaries or not.
The ladybug goes under the table.
Aww. What a cute ending.

Keeping Up with the Joneses (2016)
2017071X:*
I started watching this movie today starting with the car escape action sequence. And while I don't remember when, but I had watched the car escape action sequence once before.
*14/15/16, but also before The NeverEnding Story.
[20171112]
20171112:
Today I watched the first part of the movie which I never saw before.
In any case, about a fourth of the movie is spent slowly setting up the story. Considering the expected genre, this could have been condensed and traded for more action.
For comparison, I vaguely remember Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005), but I'd be willing to say it is a better movie than Keeping Up with the Jones.
Overall, the movie lacks enough action and has a mediocre plot. I would generally advise not watching it.
Instant Comments:
1b: Hahaha. "If I find pictures of her ass on his phone, BJ night is canceled."
1b: Siri messes up the recording.
1b: Haha. "There is a Chinese word for cul-de-sac."
1b: That wriggling snake...
1b: Ha! "We do it really fast in case the kids come running into our room."
1b: "I could crack a walnut down there if I needed to."
1b: After the weak/strong Karen line, I went to IMDb to look up the actress who played Natalie Jones. I learned it was an actress named Gal Gadot, but I hadn't heard of that name before. Going to her IMDb page, I was surprised to find that she was Wonder Woman (in Wonder Woman)! I couldn't believe I didn't recognize she was Wonder Women. Though in all fairness, she does appear to be taller and skinnier in this movie than in Wonder Woman.
1b: Also Isla Fisher looks like Amy Adams. Though when compared side-to-side, I still like Amy Adams more.
1b: I started watching some scenes I had already seen and they made more sense.
1b: A lot more time passed in the Joneses' conversation than seemed to pass from the Gaffney's point of view.
1b: The one thing I was thinking though, was that even though Dan had logged in using Jeff's computer, wouldn't he have had to put in his own login information?
1a: Tim was worried the Gaffneys wouldn't make it in time (they need to arrive in 45 minutes) because they started having sex. But they finished in under a minute.

Born in China (2016)
Overview: This documentary follows three animal families and a herd of chiru. The three families are as follows: panda (mother and baby daughter), golden snub-nosed monkey (mainly follows the son's rebellion and return), and snow leopard (a mother and her two cubs).

Bill Burr: You People Are All the Same. (2012)
20170708:
I love Bill Burr's material. He generally challenges popular beliefs and shows no reservation when doing so.
Furthermore, he's only getting better with every special, so if you enjoyed any of his previous specials, I would recommend you watch this one as well.
Netflix determined the special for me as a <56%* match. I decided to give the special a thumbs up.
*With the first movie without a match percentage being 1st, Bill Burr: You People Are All the Same. was the 5th out of 15 items with hidden match percentages.
Instant Comments:
"Just to put it out there, you can use lotion on other parts of your body besides your dick."
"We missed that shit the way black people missed the whole register your weapons summit."
The playing catch bit is solid; "God’s everywhere, but I gotta go down there to see him? Really? And he’s mad at me down there, and I owe ya money?"
Hahaha. Pretending he's Rihanna screaming at Chris Brown: "I'll fuck all your friends! I don’t give a fuck! Maybe that’s why I sell more albums than you, motherfucker!"
"Dude, there is an epidemic of gold-digging whores in this country."
Great: "I’m running for governor of a state I can’t even pronounce, and he wins the election. Why wouldn’t this guy think he couldn’t bang his maid in his own bed and get away with it? This dude has been in the zone for over four decades! Four decades… nothin’ but net. Bang a maid in my own bed? Dude, that’s a layup. Are you serious? I had a hit movie with a midget. I don’t even need a condom."
"And the article was actually written by a woman. That's like me writing a book, The third trimester and what to expect."

Walt Disney Animation Collection: Vol. 2: Three Little Pigs (2009)
20170708:
As I look to slowly whittle down the list of films in my Netflix My List, I decided to watch the second volume of the Walt Disney Animation Collection.
This collection was full of "Silly Symphonies" and I generally liked them all. The short I liked least was the one titled Chicken Little; I did, however like how it ended.
Choosing which short I liked best was harder. I could easily narrow it down to three choices: Three Little Pigs, Lambert the Sheepish Lion, and Elmer Elephant. Having grown up as a kid associating Elmer Elephant with Owner of a Lonely Heart, I then narrowed down my choices to Three Little Pigs and Lambert the Sheepish Lion. In the end, I decided to pick the classic story of Three Little Pigs as my favorite, and declared Lambert the Sheepish Lion as the runner-up.
Netflix determined the movie for me as a <56%* match. I decided to give the collection neither a thumbs up nor a thumbs down.

Three Little Pigs (1933)
I still have the book and cassette for this story.
[Apparently the third sequence, when the Big Bad Wolf visits Practical Pig's brick house, was edited over the years. This version is fully censored: "I'm the Fuller Brush Man - I'm working me way through college"]
Oh my goodness. He has a "picture" of his father: sausage links.

The three little pigs make a reappearance.
Don't recall seeing this one before.
Three Little Wolves (1936)
German
The three little pigs again.
Don't recall seeing this one before.
Lambert the Sheepish Lion (1952)
I have a feeling I've seen this short before, but I can't say I recalled it vividly.
Chicken Little (1943)
"Vague" references "Vogue"
"Hey wait, that's not the way it ends in my book!" "Oh yeah? Don't read everything you read, brother."
Don't recall seeing this one before.
Three Blind Mousekateers (1936)
I've definitely seen this before.
Elmer Elephant (1936)
I don't think I've seen this short as shown. I have, however, seen a music video which uses this short as footage. ["Owner of a Lonely Heart" by Yes; but I can't find it on YouTube]

*With the first movie without a match percentage being 1st, Walt Disney Animation Collection: Vol. 2: The Three Little Pigs was the 1st out of 17 items with hidden match percentages.
Instant Comments:
Three Little Pigs (1933)
I still have the book and cassette for this story.
[Apparently the third sequence, when the Big Bad Wolf visits Practical Pig's brick house, was edited over the years. This version is fully censored: "I'm the Fuller Brush Man - I'm working me way through college"]
Oh my goodness. He has a "picture" of his father: sausage links.
The Big Bad Wolf (1934)

World of Tomorrow (2015)
20170708:
After watching Spawn, I went looking through My List and I wanted to watch something with a visible percent match (56 or greater) and ended up picking World of Tomorrow.
I was initially surprised to find that it was only 17 minutes long, because having previously read the movie's description on Netflix, I was expecting an hour-long film.
With that being said, I mostly enjoyed the film's story, dialogue, and artwork - even though sometimes the story lacked cohesion. Maybe I just didn't fully understand. For example, why did the future Emily seem to lack a personality. I thought she was suppose to be an ongoing clone of the original Emily.
Overall, if you like science fiction stories, perhaps you'd enjoy World of Tomorrow, but I make no guarantees.
Netflix determined the movie for me as a 61% match. I decided to give the movie neither a thumbs up nor a thumbs down.

Spawn (1997)
20170708:
I've never seen this movie before and, since it was recommended to me by Netflix, I decided to watch it.
While there were some good special effects here and there, I had trouble fully enjoying the film.
Overall, the movie lacked a proper presentation and consequently felt choppy.
Netflix determined the movie for me as a 98% match. I decided to give the movie neither a thumbs up nor a thumbs down, though I considered giving it a thumbs down.
