The Jungle Book (2016)

20160429:
This live action movie based on Disney's The Jungle Book (1967) was a fun movie to watch.

Mowgli (Neel Sethi)

In addition, the CGI animals looked realistic and beautiful.

However, as of 20170217, I would say that the movie was good, but wasn't memorable.

Netflix rates the movie for me at 4.8; I would want to give it a 4.2, but Netflix rating only takes whole numbers so I gave it a 4. On IMDb, I gave it an 8, which is greater than it's current rating of 7.5 across 183,524 user ratings.

Trailers: The Secret Life of Pets (2016), Ice Age: Collision Course (2016), The BFG (2016), Finding Dory (2016)

Baloo (Bill Murray)

[20170217 Edit]

Instant Comments:
1: "Yeah, but if the branch didn't break, I would have made it."
1: "What about me, am I a fine wolf?"
1: "How many lives is a man-cub worth?" / "How many lives. Who can answer that question?"

Bagheera (Ben Kingsley)

1: holy shit that Shere Khan threat.
1: 71.
1: trust in me.

Shere Khan (Idris Elba)

2: "You said they didn't sting! How the heck did they do this?"
1: no big deal.
1: Baloo hums "Bear Necessities."

Raksha (Lupita Nyong'o)

1: Mowli and Baloo sing "Bear Necessities."
1: "Bear Necessities (Reprise)."
1: I like how they did the kidnapping sequence.

1: the size of King Louie was weird. [instead of an orangutan, King Louie in this movie is a Gigantopithecus]
2: Oh, King Louie refers to his species in the song: "That me, a gigantopithecus" and "Oh, how magnificus it would be | A gigantopithecus like me"
1: that chase was pretty good.
1: it took me a while to recognize Christopher Walken's voice; I mostly figured it out during the chase in the temple.

Credits:
1: Cool credits.
1: "Trust in Me" song comes second during the credits.
1: I didn't know Scarlett Johhansson was Kaa until the credits.

Big Daddy (1999)

Watched once before.
Watched 20160419 (Netflix, Instant)

Overview: Sonny Koufax (Adam Sandler) is cruising off the settlement of a lawsuit when a five-year old kid is dropped off at his doorstep. In an attempt to win back his girlfriend, Sonny unofficially adopts the kid. But what starts off as a silly scheme, becomes something more.

20160419:
While I watched this movie once a long time ago, I had absolutely no memory of what it's about.

Julian "Frankenstien" McGrath
(Cole Sprouse / Dylan Sprouse)

In any case, the set-up of the movie is a bit unbelievable and the overall plot was sort of here and there, lacking a strong focus on any one element.

Actually, the film's resolution was almost as silly as its beginning.

Overall, I mostly enjoyed the jokes which are typical of an Adam Sandler movie, but I liked the plot less than most Adam Sandler movies.

Layla Maloney (Joey Lauren Adams)

Note there is a bit of romance in Big Daddy, but only about as much as Talledega Nights (starring Will Ferrell) or Happy Gilmore (starring Adam Sandler).

Instant Comments:
Ha. That ruined surprise.
Haha. "You're not proposing are you!?!"

"You wipe your own ass then?" "Yes"
Hahaha. The stick.
"I wipe my own ass."
"What kind of cat would do that?" "You calling me a liar!?!"
"Live Nudes" for a night light.

Homeless Guy (Steve Buscemi)

The newspaper.
More newspaper.
"You loop it, you swoop it, you pull."
"He has a five year plan." "What is it, don't die?"
"...there's a good chance I'll develop a stutter. Puh-puh-puh-please don't do this to me."

Delivery Guy (Rob Schneider)

Haha. He spiked his Yoo-hoo with rum.
Things have to change around at the 1 hour mark.
Hahaha. "It's not his fault he can't read."
Lol. "Because I don't know the rules with kids and grown ups and being naked and just sit down!"
"Damn you. You gave him the easy ones!"

Corinne Maloney (Leslie Mann)

The end of that court scene is slightly tear-jerking.
"It's important. When you eat at my restaurant. You never eat the BLT."
"Maybe its a ten year plan."

Frank Castle / Punisher (Brian Bloom)

20160401:
After watching several DC movies on Netflix, I watched this Marvel animation and all the violence that comes with the Punisher was a bit refreshing (though there was a decent amount of blood spilled in Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox).

Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow (Jennifer Carpenter)

If I were to nitpick about any single scene in the movie, it would be the one where Black Widow is downloading some data and then interrupts the download to attack someone in the shadows. First, why didn't she wait and have the person attack her instead?

Amadeus Cho (Eric Bauza)

Second, with all the technology S.H.I.E.L.D. must have, why not use - I don't know - a wireless data transfer device.

Overall, the movie was entertaining with some good action sequences. In particular, the first fight between Black Widow and Punisher was cool.

Iron Man (Matthew Mercer), Captain Marvel, and War Machine

If you enjoy animated superhero films, then you might as well watch this one, but it was, with respect to other animated super hero films, below average.

Instant Comments:
Used and punished for it. Damn.
Well said. "What was wrong with that?! You're insane!!"

The Hulk (Fred Tatasciore) and Thor
