Venom: The Last Dance (2024)

20250430:
Rating: 4.2/5

Instant Comments:
The movie opens with them in another universe. The Marvel universe that we've been following where the Thanos snap happened. But they get sucked out and Venom symbiote says they're back to their universe. I think cause Venom was a spoiler at the end of the third Spider-Man movie
This drink mixing is just over the top
hmm... "The darkness has teeth" he said
Hehe "Told you we could fly"
Smile. "how does Tom Cruise do this?" "He doesn't whine like a little bitch"
Smile. "Good thing we haven't died." "Except that one time."
hehe horsepower
hmm... I'm curious if this female scientist would eventually bond with one of the symbiotes. there's so many symbiotes with none of them active to defend themselves. though I guess technically Venom symbiote said it's only after the codex. though... kind of a strange twist that they lock some dude up and the mechanism to unlock is via their death; Venom symbiote knew that resurrecting Brock would create the codex, (well I didn't see the other movie) but needs Brock to survive?
love how they animate Venom symbiote in the water
hehe fish + Venom symbiote. frog + Venom symbiote.
"can't let you die." interesting. Venom symbiote cares a lot about Eddie. Perhaps he really appreciates their synergy [I later was reading a thread where someone thought there was a plothole. reading some comments made me realize that symbiotes have to be compatible with their host to stay, otherwise eventually the host rejects the symbiote when bonded for too long, potentially killing the host. as such, since Venom symbiote is compatible with Eddie, he desires to preserve Eddie's life
not sure. he is mad that he lost three people, but its technically his fault. not sure why he is hunting Venom to begin with
hehe blood mist. yeah that was really cool effect. each enemy the monster consumed
chuckle. "he's so beautiful"
I feel like there must be another way. If it were as simple as one of them dying, then perhaps the Venom symbiote or Brock would make such a sacrifice.
hehe. "lifetime of therapy"
He says "We" in a sentence he's talking to Martin
hehe "This is my jam"
Nierika.
chuckle. "I'm glad we didn't eat this fine family"
hehe. "No reject them Worse than Crocs."
interesting. they're like opposites in so many ways. Venom symbiote likes chocolate, singing, musicals, and Brock doesn't like any of those.
Rain Man
huh. I didn't watch the previous movies but apparently this Mrs. Chen knows he has a symbiote
haha dance sequence love it
"When did you two practice this?" (smile. it is well synchronized)
huh. how did the monster know to follow the plane?
"He's deteriorating without his host"
I still don't understand why they needed to separate the Venom symbiote from Eddie; but also according to the codex plan, why they didn't just immediately kill Brock
ooo. Nice move (on the part of the scientist!)
hehe the other symbiote broke out no problem. all this time it could have done this
oh no.
huh the one symbiote bonded with a person, but then saw the other symbiote and ran in to be consumed but double head
wait what. he fired at both the alien and the symbiote who was clearly helping
"He was trying to protect you! We are not the bad guys!" You tell him.
Damn that monster has a sonic sound that disrupts the symbiotes. Though why wouldn't it just use that more
this chase scene with Brock on a bike and Venom using tentacles / tendrils to do stuff is cool
chuckle. "i'm sorry. I'm so sorry" (very brave of him to return to help)
no her symbiote
how is this movie gonna end. It almost seems implied someone wants to sacrifice himself.
huh. holy crap. what is happening? he's able to consume them?
she finally pops the vial on the symbiote. though interesting such a small vial was able to combine so fully. and almost lucky that it had super speed
I would say... cause early in the film, there was something about viral shedding. So a small piece of Venom symbiote would be in a vial and could return to Eddie. that's my guess what would happen. but oddly then the codex would be alive. unless... like the small fragment counts as a different iteration of Venom symbiote
the thing is... Eddie seemed at times miserable to be stuck with Venom symbiote but he was also sad to part with it
credits starting with 16 minutes left. there's gotta be something after credits...
various symbiosis with other animals are depicted. trutle, penguin, whale, alligator. very cool looking
scene before the credits roll. Knull says something and we see his face. What I don't understand is that I thought Venom symbiote's sacrifice was expressedly aimed at preventing Knull to obtain the codex and be released
hmm. the focus on the bartender seems weird. it's not like funny or informative. they should have not needed that and just pan at the destruction and pan out to the vial / cockroach
well, I suppose the bartender is to remind the viewer of the moment in the bar where a portion of Venom symbiote was captured; whereas the cockroach is a callback to the scientist stating that a cockroach could survive a catastrophe
what is not shown however is the cockroach being bonded with a symbiote so I don't think that's the point of the end credits. I would just assume the vial is broken and therefore the symbiote that was in the vial has begun its journey to look for a host.
I suppose... the explanation for why the bartender is alive and also for his screaming, is that the symbiote in the vial bonded with him. the juxtaposition being that roaches would survive such an acid bath explosion but not humans - though Eddie was literally right there so... I'm not sure my theory works out
I would note that some people think made remarks about the cockroach having symbiote but I don't think that would be the case. the cockroach in the scene is shown approaching the vial which is already broken. the vial already being broken suggests that the symbiote inside it has already gone somewhere before that particular cockroach we see approached it. so most likely the symbiote has combined with say a different cockcoach or the bartender, but certainly not the cockroach we see. again the cockroach is mainly just a callback to the statistic earlier in the movie and convey survival. so we definitely should infer that a fragment of Venom symbiote has survived.

Rambo (2008)

20250428:
When I was starting this film, I actually thought it was the first movie. However, I quickly realized it was not the first movie and learned that it was the fourth movie in the franchise.

Overall it wasn't a perfect action film, but I enjoyed it well enough. Also, I wasn't expecting a short movie, but I kind of find the shorter length refreshing.

Rating: 4.4/5

Instant Comments:
oh ok. how interesting. this movie is 2008. Fourth movie in Rambo franchise. And the first movie is actually called First Blood.
"Who are you!? They would have raped her 50 times and cut your fucking heads off. Who are you? Who are any of you?" Nice. how naive of that guy to complain about Rambo saving them from death. would he really have preferred dying than having the pirates killed?
what she says after sounds kind of cheesy
dipshit. "I'll have to report this..."
wow this attack on the village is so violent. I don't remember seeing even this much violence in a war movie
hehe. that's a funny response "she's into retards"
this guy talks so much. and he's talking to Rambo who looks tough as shit... like... what does he care about who hires him. he's a mercenary so he either takes the job or leave it
also, he said he could swim faster than the rate of the boat, but he surely couldn't swim the distance
huh. he took one breathe of the cigarette and threw it. why
damn. they have to run back even though they made it across?
"Live for nothing or die for something."
ooo. I like the flute as he runs across in the background
chuckle chuckle. "God didn't save your life, we did. Now fucking get up."
wow. that's quite a way to kill someone (he like ripped off the guy's neck)
wow. those sniper shots
they raid villages... is retrieving some missing prisoners really so important?
doesn't seem to have any weapons on him. probalby has his machete. not his bow? just running with the claymore. what happens after he blows up the ben following him.
oh shit. right next to the old bomb. no wonder he hightailed it out of there
ooo. clean kill with the machete
crazy gruesome kills with the mounted turret [Browning M2 Aircraft: "The Browning M2 Aircraft is a heavy machine gun chambered for the .50 BMG cartridge" (https://rambo.fandom.com/wiki/Browning_M2_Aircraft)]
I'm super curious what she thinks of her principals after this... after all he did tell her to go home. does she feel her try to save was worth it?
wow. this person, one of the missionaries, went for knocking this enemy dead
ah. the guide went to get the rebels
what kind of gun is he using. it pierces and does so much damage
oh ho ho ho. my goodness. he slices the machete coming out the side
oh I see. I guess there's some change in helping the rebels defeat the enemies

20250426:
I decided today that I would start watching Seinfeld. I want it to be my show while exercising on the bicycle or vice versa. That is, if I want to watch more Seinfeld, I have to be biking.

S1E01:
watched the first episode today. in the episode, he made this joke comparing interviews and dates. I've also made this comment to friends within the last year. They are very similar and it's helpful to think about transferring experience and skills in one to the other

Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977)

20250425:
Ben has brought home from his school libraries some short stories pertaining to Star Wars specifically the first and second movies. There was one page in particular where Obi-Wan disappears and it was hard to explain it to him. He's also taken a fancy to the idea of light sabers. As such, I decided I would soon show him the movie.

hehe C-3PO says R2-D2 tricked him into coming
C-3PO doesn't make any attempt to bring R2-D2 until the red unit broke down...
Obi-Wan says he never owned a droid, but in the prequels he would have at least known of R2D2 [Initial portion of Google AI Overview response: "The idea that Obi-Wan Kenobi forgets R2-D2 in "A New Hope" is often discussed, but it's not a case of a retcon. Rather, it's a creative interpretation of a line Obi-Wan says to Luke: "I don't remember owning a droid.". While it's true Obi-Wan never owned R2-D2, this line can be interpreted as a playful lie by omission, especially given Alec Guinness's smirk when delivering it.]
hehe Obi-Wan just straight up tells Luke that his father and him were Jedi Knights and Luke doesn't really bat an eye to the statement
"Only Imperial stormtroopers are so precise"
hehe the Kessel run in 12 parsecs [the route is traditionally a distance of 20 parsecs]
Han explains jumping to lightspeed isn't easy (I believe this was trivialized in the newer trilogy)
oh wow. Obi-Wan felt the destruction of Alderaan
He blocked all three fires and Han calls it as luck... If it was one that is luck, if it were two then that could be real lucky, but three...
jeez. How long would it really have taken to build such a structure? ["In the Star Wars universe, the first Death Star took approximately 20 years to build, while the second, which was larger, was completed in only 4 years. However, the initial planning and early stages of research and development for the first Death Star began much earlier, potentially decades before its completion"]
"Either I'm going to kill her or I'm beginning to like her."
Hehe can't believe C-3PO's response worked
Hahaha. I love that. "Listen to them, they're dying C-3PO"
why would Luke have rope in his utility belt. Actually why does he have a utility belt at all
"Run Luke Run" - Obi-Wan after he disappeared in the voice
ah that's what I thought. Early in the film he mentions Biggs and someone else already went to the academy a year before. And here he reunites with his friend.
why do the rebels fly with droid units and not the imperial?

Waterworld (1995)

20250425:
Having seen and enjoyed the WaterWorld show at Universal Studios, I thought it would be reasonable to watch this movie. While there were some exciting parts, the sets, some of the themes, and some core relationships, I ultimately thought the film failed to deliver a believable and engaging plot. I think in a more traditional action movie fashion, there should have been a mechanism for which the protagnist, The Mariner, to take down the enemy in a way that leverages his abilities and skill set.

Nice opening. It informs a lot in a short amount of time
Ah. I was wondering why he would pick all the fruit and it was the other guy who took it
Pure dirt.
If covering the tattoo on her back is so important, I feel a better choice of clothes would be in order
Hmm. They reveal he's a mutant. Does that imply he cheated by going to the sea floor to get dirt?
That's a lot of ammo and investment into a siege
Hehe. Didn't even see what he was firing at... Will he be fired?
Huh. Did he not see his target leave?
You're dying anyways bro
I saw this scene in the preview where the actress reminded me of Charlize Theron. But it's not. The actress Jeanne Tripplehorn is about 12 years older than Charlize Theron
Wow. Her clothing was just one piece of cloth
Whoa. Cool view. He's high above. It really shows how big his sails are
Hehe. Threw her overboard
Yikes. He's gonna be mad
Hahaha. The little one got her hair chopped off too
Hehe. Paper
It looks like they're eating a small fish when the fish that attacked him seemed huge
Hehe. This scene of the sail passing the water looks clearly like a model passing by
wow that's a great underwater shot where she's smiling
nice flag
ah ok. it's like I thought. seafloor
oh I guess technically it's former dryland... but still counts as seafloor... well wouldn't the dirt have transformed over time?

hehe. "I said slow!"
After he gives his speech and they get all excited. I'm imagining this ship will be going down by the end of the movie
Huh. He's just gonna confront them directly?
"Because you're not crazy." He drops it. The old man down there: "Oh, thank God."
That explosion did less damage than I was expecting. I thought the choice would have been suicidal
I love the detail that went into getting the zipline taut
uh, even if he didn't come down, they were headed straight for each other anyways

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (2023)

20250421:
I decided to watch this movie, which was second on "My List"; I wasn't feeling like watching the first on the list: Kraven the Hunter. Having watched the movie, I was surprised about how good it was. It had many exciting action scenes, a great story, and a healthy amount of jokes. There may have been a couple of cringe jokes, but most were well done. I've only ever participated in a Dungeons & Dragons session once back in high school. I don't think my lack of familiarity with the role playing game impacted my ability to enjoy the movie.

Hahaha "so we'll keep your share then". that's funny
He swatted at a fly. Could be the druid
Ah. the fly is
oh wow. Sofina knows. shit she's good.
The bird of prey is classic but I feel like a bat would be a more natural transition from a rat
hehe. a deer
wow. she's really well versed in choosing animals for the escape; and she showed wit with being a bird like the other birds; the whole sequence was well done
chuckle. just pay it with magic

oh she [Doric] has a tail
hahaha. of course they wasted their questions
haha. slipped
ha. "that was only the fourth question" (he's self-aware of the limit of questions
hahahaha. "Just because that sentence is symmetrical doesn't make it not nonsense." This is funny to me because I've made this observation that I've shared with some friends about the simplicity of making clever sounding statements simply by swapping around a few words, but that the result is typically nonsense. And of course the core of the observation is that many sayings exist following this pattern. Such that, one should question how true they really are. Cause believing what is false but sounds true is worse than believing what is true but sounds false.
smile. he says he's not taking his hand. but most likely he will take his hand at some point
hahahahahahaha. "well that's a little hurtful" (the intelligence devourer's basically walk by them without so much as stopping)
I'm not sure how such a bridge could survive. it just takes one person to try to cross it and it would have fallen
is this a basilisk?
Dead end? Just use the hither thither.
Probably there would only be so many charges though
hahahahahaha. Just walks straight and over the rock
As an aside, I think it's interesting she [Doric] didn't used her shapeshifting powers during the escape. She could have just turned into something that files
Ah she [Doric] uses her power again
I feel like despite this new plan, that the Harper [Edgin] (Chris Pine) would be the one to wear the helmet... Cause the Wizard's [Simon's] great-great grandfather said the magic chooses the wielder
hehe. I don't mind that.
interesting. the druid [Doric] knocked out, and all three now tentacled... I suppose now only if Kira saves them...
hehe his [Edgin's] charisma allowed them to be in the games
hehe. a mimic
wow. what a confident idea (turned into snake)
chuckle. "well shit"
hmm. not quite believable that they're actually able to keep up against her [Sofina]. She was made to seem too powerful. but maybe she is not as smart as them combined... but I really hope they have something up their sleeve than brute force
ah ok. great plan
he's gonna use the tablet to save Holga? I figured that would make sense. It's one thing to revive a person who's been dead a long time, but it's another to revive someone just as they're passing
ah ok. a second reason for saving Holga: she's effectively Kira's mom
it's surprising that in all time of the existence of that tablet no one has used it
hahaha. I was expecting him to take Jarnathan, but I didn't see the blocked window twist

Silverado (1985)

20250417:
This movie was expiring on Netflix and since I like Westerns I figured I watch it.

The movie was fun and I enjoyed the score. However, I felt at times the movie felt fractured and not always well motivated. That is, while the movie is set up for us the viewer to root for the four protagonists, I find the underlying story to not be as clear cut as some other Westerns.

Predictable but reasonably fun film.

First, why would he run out into the shooting. Second, why would he stand up against the wall.
Huh. Two years later? I thought somehow his kid would grow up and get revenge.
Huh. He shook his head but he took him
Haha. Lol. The one juror who made it too obvious.
But this whole recording thing seems to make it cheating/illegal
He said "Harkin sandbagged us." Who is Harkin? The judge?
Given that it's clear Nicolas Easter has some kind of twist, it's amazing the kind of front he puts on. Earlier when he got the jury duty paper, he said Christmas came early, which means he's happy, but he also banged the mailbox
Hahaha. Damn. They told them he hopes they're feeling patriotic and he got them to do the Pledge of Allegiance. Quite the parlor trick. Like uh... what's it called? The type of magicians who use suggestions.
Wow. "It's a parlor game." I apparently nailed the word.
I feel like he should put on a show of the chase perhaps but I'm not sure if he would have really left any sensitive data on his computer
Damn he really had at it with the car
Hehe. He got the guy on tape.
Not zeroed out... probably intentionally not zeroed out.
Hmm. I was thinking he'd be smart enough for a double plant (mp3 player) but it's revealed in his conversation he doesn't want that leaked
She asked for 10 million which is above the 7.5 million he asked. He wants to pay just 500 K.
What's the point of avoiding her photo taken if she reveals her face to him
I feel like... in the end they wouldn't do it for the money.
Whoa. Love their conversation in the bathroom
Exactly. That's what I would think as well. Rankin Fitch is able to do all the things he does because he exactly doesn't care to begin with.
I would bite him or kick him in the nuts.
Oh nice. Eye gouge.
Holy shit. She managed to win the fight.
I would say they take the money from Fitch and still swing the case to Firearms. Of course, I feel like I've seen this movie before...
Damn. That guy was getting emotional when reading the papers but he still snitched.
Oh wow. It's revealed Fitch worked that case in Gardner, Indiana. They weren't just pushing for passing gun control but for getting revenge on Fitch.
110 million in general damages... That money just goes to that one person? Or does general damages go to those affected?
The news says it's awarded to just her. That's crazy
I mean... he must be rich anyways. What does he really lose from losing the trial? I mean his future income perhaps.
