Austin Powers in Goldmember (2002)

20190617:
This third installment to the Austin Powers movies had higher highs and lower lows than the previous two movies, Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997) and Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999).

Austin Powers (Mike Myers)

Highs included the addition of Michael Caine as Austin's father Nigel Powers, the role which Mini Me plays throughout the movie, and the initial Austinpussy movie sequence. I also enjoyed the flashbacks which connected Austin with Dr. Evil. At the other end, lows included Beyonce Knowles's weak showing as Foxxy Cleopatra and the movie's general lack of cohesion. To be fair, it's possible that Knowles's performance was limited by the character, who failed to carry the same weight as the first two Austin Powers supporting lead characters, Vanessa Kensington and Felicity Shagwell. In particular, Austin Powers was shown to develop a deep romance with both Kensington and Shagwell, while his romance with Cleopatra was kept more superficial. Of course, it could also just be that my expectation of Knowles was set by the quality of her music (excellent music!!!).

Dr. Evil (Mike Myers)

Overall, the movie averaged worse than the first two films, but I still enjoyed the majority of it and I would still recommend it. Furthermore, I would also desire a fourth film.*

Netflix determined the movie for me as a 98% match. I decided to give the movie neither a thumbs up nor a thumbs down.

*I believe Mike Myers displayed interest in making a fourth film back in 2018. However, I'll have to find some sources on this.

Instant Comments:
Nice. Tom Cruise as Austin Powers, Gwyneth Paltrow as Dixie Normous, Kevin Spacey as Dr. Evil, and Danny Devito as Mini-Me.

Foxxy Cleopatra (Beyonce Knowles)

Steven Spielberg
HA! "Oops. I did it again, baby. Yeah!"
Preparation H
"On the whole, Preparation H does feel good." Explain joke: whole is a pun on hole.
Wait, I thought he was frozen for a while. Would his dad be alive?
Ming Tea.
Fook Mi
Heineken
Twist: Fook You

Fat Bastard (Mike Myers)

This is Austin's List:
BECOME INTERNATIONAL MAN OF MYSTERY
SAVE WORLD FROM CERTAIN DOOM
FIND TRUE LOVE
GO TO OUTER SPACE
TRAVEL THROUGH TIME, BACKWARD AND FORWARD
BE CRYOGENICALLY FROZEN
CATCH DR. EVIL IN THE FIRST ACT
THREESOME WITH JAPANESE TWINS
EARN DADDY'S RESPECT

Scott Evil (Seth Green)

Hehe. Their history together goes way back: Austin, Dr. Evil, Number Two, and Basil.
Oh. It's Michael Caine.
Ha. Haha. "People who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch."
"Cause I'm Foxy Cleopatra and I'm a whole lot of women."
He references his monologue from the previous movie.
Haha. "You're a tripod."
Hahahahaha. Oh. Holy shit. ("everyone" out, but actually not...)
"Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto."

Mini Me (Verne Troyer)

Lol. This pee scene.
Hahaha. I laughed when I saw the Charmander running from Godzilla.
Hahahahaha. It's funny because it's clearly fake.
Hahaha. Hahahaha. "One of us has to go on the other oen's shoulders." Hahaha. Hahahaha.
Ha. "John Travolta as Goldmember."

Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999)

20190615:
Today I saw the film and I recognized parts of it, especially towards the end.

Austin Powers (Mike Myers)

In any case, the movie followed much of the formula of the first movie, with a couple new bits thrown in here and there. For example, the bit with the homonyms for penis was a fresh addition.

Netflix determined the movie for me as a 99% match. I decided to give the movie a thumbs up.

Instant Comments:
One of the best opening credits ever.

Dr. Evil (Mike Myers) and Mini-Me (Verne J. Troyer)

Hahahaha. Dr. Evil expressing his anger on Jerry Springer is hilarious.
Ivana Humpalot.
Number Two is back.
Like in the previous movie, Scott illustrates the flaws of Dr. Evil's plan.
Zip it: "Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, ex-zip-it A." | "Look! I'm 'Zippy' Longstocking!" | "(to Devo's 'Whip It') When a problem comes along, you must zip it! (imitates whip) Zip it good!" | "(speaks faux Japanese)... Subtitle: "Zip it"." | "Zip! Would you like to have a suckle of my "zipple"?"

Austin and Felicity Shagwell (Heather Graham)

Hahahaha. Austin's chess movies.
"Well which is it baby, Spit or Swallows?"
"Shagwell by day, shag very well by reputation."
Wait, I thought he died.
Is that supposed to be the conception of Scott?

References Planet of the Apes.
"How does that feel baby?" "Lower." In a lower voice he repeats, "How does that feel baby?"
"Death Star"
"This coffee smells like shit." "It is shit Austin." "Oh good, then it's not just me."
I'm not sure which Bond movie the white swimsuits are supposed to parody.

Young Number Two (Rob Lowe) and Frau Farbissina (Mindy Sterling)

Haha. This scene. "It looks like a giant..." | "Dick." [..] | "Pecker." [...] | "Privates! [...]" | "Two balls. [...]" | "Wang, pay attention!" [...] | "Willie" [...] | "Johnson?!"

Credit:
Follow-up Jerry Springer.
Lol. Past Austin.
After the credits. Mustafa
