Calpurnia (Estelle Evans) scolds Scout

20150331:
While To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee is a common high school reading book, I never came across it myself* and the movie has been on my to-watch list for quite some time.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the film and I actually kind of want to read the book.

*I went to a different school after 10th grade and I believe that school uses th book for freshmen English class.

As of 20180510, Netflix determined the movie for me as a 89% match. I decided to give the movie neither a thumbs up nor a thumbs down.

Instant Comments:
Ha. So panicked that he just left his pants.
Holy shit that gunshot.

Boo Radley (Robert Duvall)

[So it happened quickly, but apparently Scout was trying to explain to her teacher about Walt's financial situation and got scolded for it]
"It's a sin to kill a mockingbird." (37 min)
The things you don't know about your parents...
That music is spooky (after Atticus drives away)

Jem, Scout, and Dill (John Megna) watch the case from the colored section

Neat, two slabs of ice.
The trial begins halfway through the movie.
Very clever. Right Eye + Left-Handed.
I like how the judge knew that was the aim of having the witness write.
"No, I don't recollect if he hit me. I mean, yes. I do, he hit me."

Scout (Mary Badham)

What? Seriously? "Feeling sorry for someone" is a bad thing? [The comment is made more as my shock to the difference in culture between the setting of the plot and today]
Damn, that verdict...
Such reverence.

Jem (Philip Alford)

Well if the Sheriff says so...
"Well... it would be... sort of like shooting a mockingbird, wouldn't it."

Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox (2013)

Professor Zoom / Eobard Thawne (C. Thomas Howell)
20160313:
While I liked the portion of the plot which took place in the alternate universe, the story lacked a good explanation regarding the cause and resolution of the entire story. In short, how could the Flash stop himself?*

Batman / Thomas Wayne (Kevin McKidd)
Regardless, I liked the pacing of this movie. Furthermore, I enjoyed this movie more than Justice League: War (2014).

In the end, The Flashpoint Paradox is yet another DC animated movie worth watching if you're into animated superhero movies.

Green Lantern / Hal Jordan (Nathan Fillion)
Instant Comments:
Lol, a gun wielding Batman.
Yo-yo? Like a version of Harley Quinn?
"Cyborg? I surrender. To you."

Superman (Sam Daly)
"You should have let her hit the pavement." - Batman
Hmm. So this is like a follow-up to Justice League: War?
Barry figured that out so quickly: Thomas Wayne.
That's intense. His wife became Joker.

Words of a journalist: "My battery is about to die and I will likely to be joining it soon."
"Hmm. So I'm finally on the other end of that trick." (The Flash disappears before Batman can finish talking)
Definitely paradoxical...

Lois Lane (Dana Delany)
"Or perhaps... it was a gift."
"You're one hell of a messenger."

*From reading the summary for the original story, I guess it might go down something like this: Barry runs back in time and saves his mother from being killed, but creates a ripple in time upon doing so.

Aquaman (Cary Elwes)
He probably also "destroys" himself, that is the one that went back in time would no longer exists, but under whatever imaginary rules of time which are in place, the ripples have already occurred. Then the Barry that wakes up is the one from the new timeline, yet somehow has only memories of the old timeline. In any case, the new Barry is a second Barry.

Cyborg / Victor Stone (Michael B. Jordan)
This new Barry is the one that goes back to stop the first Barry. What isn't mentioned, however, is that a new timeline was created (in real life, the conclusion of the Flashpoint story led to the release of The New 52).

Lex Luthor (Steve Blum)

20160313:
Batman is a cool superhero and I've enjoyed watching most movies with him as a character.

Batman / Bruce Wayne (Jason O'Mara)
As such, I was pretty excited when I saw this film was available to watch on Netflix - I bought my friend a hard copy of the film last Christmas. Fortunately for me, the movie did not disappoint.

With that being said, Batman: Under the Red Hood (2010) and Batman: Year One (2011) both tell darker and more satisfying stories.

Talia al Ghul (Morena Baccarin)
Thus, while Son of Batman may not be the best Batman movie released thus far as part of the DC Universe Animated Original Movies, any fan of Batman would enjoy it and probably most animated action viewers would enjoy it as well.

Damian and his grandfather Ra's al Ghul (Giancario Esposito)
Instant Comments:
"Hmm. You haven't seen my x-rays."
"I'll drive." "No." "I know how."
"Looks rather effeminate don't you think?"

"Watch yourself, Pennyworth. I'm not so young that I don't understand sarcasm." "While I... am much too old to care."
Oh. Deathstroke.

Nightwing / Dick Grayson (Sean Maher)
"Bruce, chill. The rig is 50 miles off the coast. What's he gonna do, swim there?"
"No, I'm my father's son too. I'm Robin."
"Let's go home, Damian." "I'll drive." "No." "I know how." "No."

Johnny English (2003)

Watched first half 20160310, second half 20160313
Johnny English (2003)

Overview: Johnny English (Rowan Atkinson) is MI7's last available agent, and while he can be incompetent, his country depends on him.

Pascal Sauvage (John Malkovich)
20160310,3:
One detail I'd nitpick on would be the random moments where the protagonist Johnny English (Rowin Atkinson) shows his competence versus his incompetence.

While Johnny English had its moments, it was neither a great spy film nor a great comedy. In particular, I'd much rather watch comedy spy film Spy Hard (1996).

Lorna Campbell (Natalie Imbruglia)
Instant Comments:
[20160310]
He's not completely incompetent. He instinctively suspects Sauvage and eventually recognized the mechanic has a different voice from usual.

Johnny English and his assistant Bough (Ben Miller)
Here English is seen accidentally releasing the gun's magazine.
[20160313]
"And like a coiled viper... he strikes."
"Fandango!"
Haha. It wasn't immediately apparent that he landed on the wrong building.

Why would you record such a thing?
Poor Bough
"Things... involving plastic toys and soft cheese..."
Haha. Gross. (the tube was for lavatory disposal)

"And like a coiled viper... he strikes."
[However, there was no waste at the base, so it was a bit far fetched]
Haha. I'm into ultrasonic.
Ah. How cute. Bough went up the tube.
Hahahaha. The wrong video...

What can happen with only 10 minutes left?
Hahahaha. "Arrest that man, and lock him away."
Of course that would happen.

While not a huge fan, I've always enjoyed watching film and cartoons based on super heroes (I've also read a couple of stories here and there).

Super Man / Clark Kent (Alan Tudyk)
Thankfully, much to my delight, Netflix will often feature several DC Universe Animated Original Movies on its Netflix Streaming service every so often.

In any case, getting down to the movie, the movie's pacing was a bit rough around the edges.

Cybork / Victor Stone (Shermar Moore)

Of course, introducing a team of characters in under one and a half hours is not an easy task.

However, the little interactions between the different heroes, such as that between Cyborg/Victor Stone and Captain Marvel/Billy Batson, was definitely fun to watch.

Batman / Bruce Wayne (Jason O'Mara)
Overall, I would emphasize the movie's action and would recommend the movie based on it. In particular, those that have enjoyed other DC Universe Animated Original Movies would almost surely enjoy this movie as well.

Remark: I later watched Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox (2013) which was released before this film and references it.

However, in that movie the Justice League was already formed and in this movie they have yet to meet. I guess the reference is more of a teaser. This movie, however, does have a direct sequel: Justice League: Throne of Atlantis (2015).

Flash / Barry Allen (Christopher Gorham)
Instant Comments:
Gets saved... doesn't say thank you.
"Batman? You're real?"
Lol. Your glowstick.

Captain Marvel (Sean Astin) / Billy Batson (Zach Callison)
Interesting that Superman also knew Batman was Bruce Wayne. [Oh wait, x-ray vision]
I didn't realize Shazam was part of the Justice League.
What, I didn't notice how she got onto the plane.

Wait, she can fly?
"You're strong." "I know."
Why does Earth have so many heroes?
Hahaha. "Hey... Barry. You got a little something on your nose."

Green Lantern / Hal Jordan (Justin Kirk)
Darkseid.
"Is that your boyfriend?" "No" "Cool, watch this."
I'm glad Darkseid isn't as overpowered as I initially thought he'd be.
Haha. The Super Seven.

Wonder Woman / Diana Prince (Michelle Monaghan)

Prometheus (2012)

20160301:
This is a great sci-fi movie that I understood much more on the second viewing. In particular, I would like to watch it again.

[20170317]

Instant Comments:
What a sacrifice... all in the name of creating life.
Some quote near the beginning about kills you that David repeats.
I choose to believe.
"There was nothing from a desert ... " - David
Haha, why the suit... "Not too close I hope."

"Prometheus, are you seeing this?"
That's pretty cool technology. Though I wonder what algorithm insures efficiency when it comes to mapping as most as possible.
Those beings are so tall.
"Congratulations on meeting your Maker."
"I'm attempting to open the door." [...] "Oops, sorry."
Oh, that was the head.
"This is just another tomb."
The stupidity of a scientist.
"Mortal after all."
"Big things have small beginnings."
Oh, I was wondering why he was drinking. Apparently it's because he didn't get to meet his maker.
"We made you cause we could."
And who made them?
"...are you a robot?" "My room... 10 minutes."
"It's beautiful." [...] "She is beautiful." Lol. Not even... that's the fucking equivalent of a cobra or a rattlesnake. Would you fucking approach a rattlesnake in real life?
And... that's what you get.
Well... at least he knew his fate.
It was creepy when he was doing it. It was super creepy when he said it: "I watched your dreams."
Her use of the surgical pod is definitely one of my favorite scenes in the film.
Any scene with her during the surgical pod or after is a good screenshot.
Wait, is Guy Pierce the old guy? [Yes]
Is it known what David says to the Engineer?
Why did the Engineers create this biological weapon to kill humans?
Ironically, the [?]
I like the bravery of the two other guys.
"If you think this means the bets off, you're wrong." "Haha, why don't you pay me on the other side."
Hehe. Hands up.
Hmm. Yeah, why did they run along the path of the ship?
Honestly, if they needed to kill Theron's character, there could have been different ways to do it.
Damn. That thing grew massive.
"I don't want to go back to where we came from. I want to go to where they came from."
"... I deserve to know why."
That's ironic. "I don't understand." "Well that's because I'm a human being and you're a robot." Well, she doesn't understand her maker's choices just as he doesn't understand his maker's choices.
Why look! It's a cute baby alien!
