Animaniacs

20151020:
After V1E18: On the Amazon episode listings, I saw Rob Paulsen's name which I recognized as Spike in The Land Before Time sequels. Apparently he's done a lot of voice work. In particular, he's the voice of Pinky, Yakko Warner, and Dr. Scratchansniff. Some other roles include Donatello in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2012-2015), Stanley Ipkiss / The Mask in The Mask (1995-1997), Arthur in The Tick (1994-1996), Raphael in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1987-1995), Max in Mighty Max (1993-1994), and various voices in Disney cartoon series.

After V1E24: Today I paused at the credits to see that Tress MacNeille does the voice of Dot. I recently learned she did various voices in Futurama and from there saw that she did voice work for many other shows and movies as well.

20160401:
Today I looked through the list of episodes I had managed to see and it seemed as if I was able to watch all the episodes.

1:B: Hehe. ACME backwards + Yakko's "a" which looks like a "2."
1:C: The Warners sing the Pinky and the Brain theme song.
1:C: Haha. For sure that question will be asked.
1:C: Wow, the first use of the suit is in the first Pinky and the Brain feature.
1:E: "If at first you don't succeed, blame it on your parents."
1:E: I wonder how many times that gets used in the series:

"I'm Wakko."
"And I'm cute."
1=20151017, 2=20160401

V1E03, S1E03: [A] H.M.S. Yakko [B] Slappy Goes Walnuts {SS} [C] Yakko's Universe

V1E05, S1E05: [A] The Taming of the Shrewy
2:A: References Rocky (1976).

1:A: Shamu
1:A: "Helllo, French nurse."
1:A: Hehe, they understand all the social rules, but don't want to.
2:A: So I wondered what Yakko said to the Japanese investors. A quick search shows the following:
Yakko: "Tokyo wa tottemo omoshiroi tokoro desu ne?" <"Tokya is an extremely interesting place, isn't it?">
Investor: "Zehi irasshite kudasai." <"You must go there.">

V1E07, S1E07: [A] Piano Rag [B] When Rita Met Runt {R&R}

1:A: Reverse psychology.
1:A: They ask him about the discrepancy between the quantity of hot dog packages and bun packages.
1:B: Hehe, I just realized the lack of "Narf" at the end of the theme song. Also for the series, the theme song is twice as long.
1:B: The appearance of Pinky and Brain is smoother and more like how they look in the series.
1:B: Lol, every time there's drum playing like in a military or action movie, it's just Pinky playing the drum.
1:E: No lesson, but the wheel is on a different prize when the scene switches out from the close-up.

"Beat it!"
1:B: Squit plays the role of Johnny (he wants to love, not fight)

1=20151018

V1E14, S1E14: [A] La La Law [B] Cat on a Hot Steel Beam {B&M}
1:O: Another episode that uses the black-and-white intro. I wonder if this has to do with the production order as opposed to the episode order.
1:Mime Time: Lol, the punchline to trapped in an imaginary box. I didn't see that coming.
1:A: Hehe. The Mime is their silent partner.
1:A: The judge says, "I hate puns."

1:A: Haha. I'm glad I'm not the only one that makes this kind of joke. "Pianist." Though I was more of a smart aleck in elementary school, now I just make bad puns.
1:A: The last time they inspired a great person in our history was the Einstein episode. Oh wait, they also did Picasso.

1:B: I guess this is a patriotic episode.
1:B: "The answer is 'The Name of All 50 States and their Capitols'" Wakko answers with a song.

1:A: Poor Brain, while he was flawed for wanting to finish Pinky's lyrics (it would annoy me to), I would say this time it's more Pinky's fault for not being quiet as Brain had asked. Technically Brain could have done more to insure Pinky's silence, but asking is definitely reasonable.

Hey, look at this store! | There's movies galore! | We've seen 'em a thousand times over before | And that's why our brains don't work anymore!
"The Player" is a movie | About finding fresh new scripts | Like "Rambo 3" and "Rocky 5" | And "Star Trek" Number 6
Eva joined with Zsa Zsa | And they formed a, "Sister Act" | But both were, "Unforgiven" | Because neither one could act
"The hand that rocked the cradle" | Once belonged to "Hook", you see | But it got bored and so it joined | "The Addams Family"
"Amadeus" was a genius | "Beethoven" was a dog | The "Muppet Family Christmas" | Is about a pig and frog
There was a sled named Rosebud | And a "Citizen" named "Kane" | He rode it 'til the snow was melted | Now he's "Singin' In The Rain"
The "Princess Bride" got married | To the handsome "Prince Of Tides" | Which now makes her dad, "The Fisher King" | The "Father Of The Bride"
And pretty soon you'll find them all | Inside the "TV Guide" | Along with all the stars | You like to see!
Like Hitchcock and Spielberg and Oliver Stone | Shirley MacLaine and Sylvester Stallone | Francis Ford Coppola, Hepburn and Tracy | Robert Zemeckis and Martin Scorcese | Clint Eastwood, John Wayne, Woody Allen and Mia | Robert Deniro and Andy Garcia | Sophia Loren, Barbra Streisand, Joan Crawford | Paul Newman, Rock Hudson, Spike Lee, Peter Lawford | Jack Nicholson, Brando and Marilyn Monroe | And that's all the people we know!
1:A: Many others, but I'm not in the mood to write them down.
1:A: Song resumes:
We're glad the dinosaur is gone | He was an easy mark | But if we ever miss him | We can rent "Jurassic Park"
So when it comes to clunkers | Like "The Babe" or like "Presidio" | Don't pay $7.50 | Just catch 'em on home video
As for us it's bye-bye time | So long now, toodle-oo | We've had quite enough of this | Video revue!

1:A: The episode name references One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, but I had trouble finding similarities in the plot. I should definitely watch that movie again.
1:A: I believe this would be the second episode where a single non-Warners segment consumes the entire episode. The first is V2E13, a Pinky and the Brain segment. Single Warners segments consist of V1E05 Taming of the Screwy, V1E10 King Yakko, and V3E15 The Warners 65th Anniversary Special. D: "Tress MacNeille as Dot. As if."
W: "Jess Harnell as Wakko. I hear he's cute."
1:E: They poke fun at Steven Spielberg:

1:C: References Frankenstein.

1:A: Macadamia Nut, a parody of Macarena.

Pinky and the Brain

20151013-20151027:
With the series set to leave Amazon Prime on 20151028, I was unable to complete it. This was largely due to the fact that I was prioritized my viewing time for Animaniacs, which was also set to leave 20151028.

[20170316]

20210724 Comment:
Today I was looking through the list of episodes on Hulu to watch any episodes I may have missed. In going through Season 1, the episode order was the same except Episode 8 and 9 are reversed. That is, on Hulu, Episode 8 is "Snowball" and Episode 9 is "A Pinky & the Brain Christmas." However, Wikipedia agrees with the Christmas episode coming first. What's interesting is that the Wikipedia article reveals some addition segments. Instead of just "Pinky & the Fog"/"Where No Mice Has Gone Before"/"Cheese Roll Call" below, Wikipedia lists "Pinky & the Fog"/"Bubba Bo Bob Brain" and "Where No Mice Has Gone Before"/"Win Big"/"Cheese Roll Call".

20211015:
Today I finally watched all the episodes of Pinky and the Brain. Overall, the series is fun for it's cultural references. I don't get many of the references and occasionally I'll look it up and learn something. However, I think I found about half of the stories to be uninteresting and/or repetitive.

Each entry begins with the following "{EpisodeNumber} A_{AmazonEpisodeNumber} {EpisodeSegmentTitle1}[/{EpisodeSegmentTitle2}[/{EpisodeSegementTitle3}]]".

Her voicework is extensive and includes various Disney cartoon series, English versions of Miyazaki movies, WB cartoon series (e.g., Pinky and the Brain, Animaniacs), Futurama, and The Simpsons]

1:"What color is your belly button?"

20151012: [20151016]
As mentioned in my Back to the Future Part II (1989) entry, I don't entertain the confusing inconceivable time traveling that takes place the Back to the Future series, but I definitely enjoyed all of the plot elements within each separate timeline.

Overall, I'm glad I watched all three Back to the Future movies and would recommend them to movie lovers out there. However, if I were to recommend just one of the three, I would recommend the first movie, Back to the Future (1985).

Dr. Emmett Brown (Christopher Lloyd)
Instant Comments:
"I just sent you back to the future." "I know, I know. Now I'm back from the future."
Hehe, the hoverboard as a footrest.
Haha, when the doc wakes up the next day.
Lol. The organ playing. It's funny cause the reason its playing is cause he fell back onto it.
So Doc's 1985 dog is Einstein, but his 1955 dog is Copernicus.
Hehe. The McFly farm.
In 1985 he was Calvin Klein and now he's Clint Eastwood.
Hehe. The pellets.
Marty says Will McFly is his great-grandfather (the first of his ancestry to be born in America).

Clara Clayton (Mary Steenburgen)
Hehe. The construction of the clock tower.
He passes by a variety of tombstones, one that looks similar to the one used for Emmett Brown.
Wells Fargo.
He's always walking around looking at the town in amazement.
Hehe, the harmonica is playing the Back to the Future theme.
"Must have gotten that shirt off of a dead Chinese." The voice of the person who says that sounds familiar. [It's Pat Buttram, the voice of various Disney characters: Napoleon in The AristoCats (1970), Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood (1973), Luke in The Rescuers (1977) and Chief in The Fox and the Hound (1981)]
Whiskey. It spills over and burns the table.

Maggie McFly (Lea Thompson)
"Hey McFly!"
Does the moonwalk and sings a bit of Michael Jackson.
Lol, the spittoon.
Damn, that custom rifle.
Ha. A gigantic ice maker.
Haha. Six horses gets 24 mph.
Liquor. Hehe.
Clayton Ravine. (For a moment I thought he altered time, but six minutes later, I realized that he didn't necessarily alter the timeline)
Haha. Again the crudity of the model (though it's super awesome).
Hehe. The last time they ran the model and covered the DeLorean, it was Marty's mom who was knocking on the door.
Ha. Marty keeps cockblocking.

Seamus McFly (Michael J. Fox)
"Where'd you learn to shoot like that?" "7-Eleven." (In reality, no way he could have adjusted to the recoil that quickly)
Ha. "Discipline."
He throws the pan. The frisbee.
"What's wrong dude, you yellow?" "Nobody, calls me yellow."
"High Noon?"
This movie is just reference after reference.
That's interesting. Seamus's brother was the hot-headed one.
"Go ahead, make my day." (A line spoken by Clint Eastwood's character Harry Callahan in Sudden Impact (1983)
They finally get around to the gravestone that was in the background.

Marty and Jennifer Parker (Elisabeth Shue)
Ha. Marty says "Great Scott!" and Doc says "Heavy."
Just the one.
"As if my future had something to do with it."
Oh! Before he takes his belt off, I realized how it all tied together. (Biff in the future was watching A Fistful of Dollars (1964) in Part II)
And the dung cart!
"I hate manure."
"Is this a hold-up?" "It's a science experiment!"
Haha. "Golly"
Well that takes care of the destruction of the DeLorean.
"Well Doc. It's destroyed. Just like you wanted."

Marty and Doc
Hahaha. One of the funniest lines. "Hey Marty, who are you supposed to be, Clint Eastwood?"
Is this the first time we see 1985 Needles? I also thought there was a cut where Marty races and crashes.
Haha. After seeing it pointed out on the internet, it's hard to miss the child actor playing Verne indicating that he has to pee.

As with the first movie (1985), I enjoyed the score and action sequences.

However, this movie's time traveling plot goes beyond my suspension of disbelief and for that reason I don't like it nearly as much as the first.

Biff from rich Biff timeline.
With that being said, the movie as a whole isn't terrible and you can't watch the trilogy without it.

Thus, if you plan on watching Back to the Future Part III, you can't leave this one behind. Otherwise, you might just be satisfied with watching the first Back to the Future.

Doctor Emmett Brown (Christopher Lloyd)
1985 Emmett Brown (right) hands a wrench to the 1955 Emmett Brown (left).
Instant Comments:
They changed the actress that plays Jennifer. [Apparently they had to recast the role because the actress was unable to continue. The last few scenes of I were reshot for the beginning of II.]

"Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads."

Lorraine (Lea Thomas) from rich Biff timeline
"Then what did you bring her for?"
The clock tower in the future is left broken
HOLOMAX JAWS
Goldie Wilson III
"What's wrong McFly? Chicken?"
Haha. Thank you: "There's something very familiar about this."

Griff (Thomas F. Wilson)
Haha. A guy asks him about preserving the clock tower.
Hehe. The Doc talks about not using the time machine for financial gains and yet he's okay with changing the future of Marty's kids (at the cost of Biff's grandkids)
Wait, there'd be little wrong with running into his older self, since his older self would know about time travel.

Marty McFly Jr (Michael J. Fox)
and Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox)
Jennifer is on the trip now, but her future self implies she hasn't.
Back to the Future's time traveling is too flawed to think about and/or try to explain. I'll just enjoy it for everything in between.
Spoiler to A Fistful of Dollars (1964)
"I think he took his wallet."

Biff Tannen (Thomas F. Wilson)
Heh. It'd be fun to watch the first movie while they're playing parts of the second. Though, I don't know if the two are truly consistent or not.
He flipped himself over sure, but how was he able to stop his forward momentum?
Technically the book shouldn't have its cover on it.
"To be concluded..."

Back to the Future (1985)

20151011:
So today I decided to watch the Back to the Future trilogy. While I may have seen each movie once in full, it's also possible I've only seen bits and parts of each film (the various movies were on over-the-air broadcast every now and then).

Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox)
Dr. Emmett Brown (Christopher Lloyd)

But honestly, I don't remember much about the series, so I might as well say I've only seen bits and pieces of it.

In any case, I enjoyed the first movie. It had a good mixture of uncertainty, action, excitement and sci-fi.

In addition, the movie depends very little on time travel and the suspension of disbelief holds firmly throughout.

Lorraine Baines (Lea Thompson)

Overall, I would definitely recommend this movie to almost anybody.

Instant Comments:
I started the film up, but then I momentarily forgot what I was watching, and so during the opening credits I briefly wondered why there were so many clocks.
Hehe. Plutonium.
Lol. That huge amp literally blows him away.

George McFly (Crispin Glover)

Ha. His girlfriend is right there and he's checking those girls out.
"30 years ago, lightning struck that tower and..."
"What are you looking at butthead?"
"That was so stupid! Grandpa hit him with a car!"
The vanity plate is OUTATIME.
88 mph.

Nov 5, 1955. When Doc invented time travel.
The Lybians.
Exactly the same scene plays out back on Nov 5, 1955 between his dad and Biff.
With pushing his dad out of the way of a car and his mom attracted to him, I guess the Futurama episode 'Roswell that Ends Well' was more of a parody on Back to the Future than I thought.
"Better get used to these bars kid."

Biff Tannen (Thomas F. Wilson)
"And he could sleep in my room." Squeezes his thigh.
"Parents are probably idiots too. Loraine, if you ever have a kid that acts that way, I'll disown you."
"1.21 gigawatts!?!"
@55 min: "Back to the future!"
Hah. If he's the youngest, shouldn't he disappear first?
Hahaha. "There's that word again, 'Heavy'..."

Darth Vader from Planet Vulcan.
Hehe. He makes a skateboard out of the kid's scooter.
Hehe. "Shiiiit!"
That's an awesome skateboard scene.
"Hey you! Get your damn hands off her!"
"Marty, I'm almost eighteen years old. It's not like I never 'parked' before."
One of the guys is wearing 3D glasses.

Jennifer Parker (Claudia Wells)
"Who you calling spook, you peckerwood?"
"Earth Angel (Will You Be Mine)" [by The Penguins, released 1954, performed in the movie by Marvin Berry & The Starlighters*]
What? She's calling his name!!! Oh, there he goes.
"Johnny B. Goode" [by Chuck Berry, released in 1958, performed by Marty McFly & The Starlighters*]
The guitarist with a cut hand was named Marvin Berry and calls his cousin.

I forgot Doc needed to slide down. I thought the last minute save happened at the face of the clock.
"Crazy drunk drivers."

"Marty! You got to come back with me."
"Back to where?" "Back to the future!"

*Harry Waters. Jr (as Marvin Berry). Mark Cambell (as Marty McFLy). Tommy Thomas, Granville "Danny" Young, David Harold Brown, and Lloyd L. Tolbert (as The Starlighters). Tim May (guitar solo in Johnny B. Goode).
