The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 (2014)

20170306 Comment:
It's been two years since I've seen this movie and I don't remember a thing about it.

20240531:
Netflix determined the movie for me as a 98% match. I decided to give the movie a thumbs up|thumbs down|neither a thumbs up nor a thumbs down.

Instant Comments:
2: Hehe. so focused on Peeta; to be fair though, she's probably just 16 or so... [16 when the games begin and 18 when it ends]
2: Huh. How is that rose there?
1: Gets to keep her cat.; 2: smile
2: smile. "door opens from inside"
1: "Everyone's either gonna wanna kiss you, kill you, or be you." - Effie
2: hehe. must be funny to be an actor, and have to act out being a bad actor
1: "You know, I like you better, Effie, without all that makeup." "Well, I like you better sober." 10:25PM PT
2: Wow. Just her walking through was such a powerful moment.
1: I will fight (hospital).
1: Damn, there were about a fourth as many soldiers as workers [such a low ratio must be expensive]
1: Unfortunately I don't remember the second movie, but it's possible that Peeta was staged [20240531: meaning Peeta was being used internally by the group to help manipulate Katniss]
1: Though the host is probably loyal to the Capitol... [20240531: I'm not sure how this aligns with previous comment. Perhaps instead of "staged" a better word would have been "placed"]
1: How'd he know she was gonna kiss him? I don't follow.
1: Wow, "The Hanging Tree" song as used in the movie is more interesting. 10:55PM PT
2: Hmm. The broadcast doesn't seem to indicate that he was placed there... 1, 2: "She went back for the cat"
2: "You went back for the cat!?! What were you thinking?" (absolutely; meaningless tension... no feelings as a viewer for the cat)
1: Wow, the Capitol destroyed everything and drops white roses.
2: "He's gonna kill Peeta"
2: Hmm... Gale being part of this volunteer group doesn't make sense. He wouldn't have the experience.
2: Wow. That poison secret about President Snow is... quite a reveal
2: "Did I lose them both tonight?" (I don't remember these movies being so much about the love triangle... and not that I don't think there shouldn't be elements of love, but it seems overdone)
1: Wait, I couldn't hear if she was more sad for Gale or Peeta
1: Wait, so "They let us go" means they were followed, which is not good.
2: Wow. That was intense. The music rose too and I was wearing headphones
1: Lol, for a moment I thought the movie was gonna end with the pan hit.
1: Though, I think it would have been a better end than the way it ended.
1: Dedicated to Phillip Seymour Hoffman.
1: Is this Lorde? [Yes]
1: After the credits, the transformation of the Mockingjay symbol was pretty cool [20240531: The ending of the previous movie also had a similar transformation that might have been a little less dramatic]
1: I read about "The Hanging Tree" lyrics. Interesting. 12:06AM

Edge of Tomorrow (2014)

20150404:
While the ending was confusing, I liked the movie. The action was great and the story was good. 10:22PM PT

Overall, if you're picky about sci-fi plots which involve time travel like I am, you might stay away from Edge of Tomorrow. However, if you're more focused on action and could care less for obvious sci-fi plot holes, Edge of Tomorrow is a great movie to watch.

Instant Comments:
Lol. The battery.
Tape. Haha.
A military Groundhog Day (1993).
How many times did he have to relive the day before getting to "find me before you wake up."
My middle name is Rose.
I don't get the ending. (I don't think time should have reset again, especially not as far as it did.)

The Village (2004)

20150403:
I was hesitant to watch The Village because it seemed like a scary movie. My friend Josh, however, assured me that The Village was not a scary movie.

With that being said, the atmosphere of the movie was improved by watching the film at night.

Overall, the movie was about suspenseful as Signs (2002) (also directed by Shyamalan), but I like Signs more. 20150404 1:35AM PT

Instant Comments:
Red flower.
Could be anybody with these carcasses.
I love you Lucius... and rejected.
Noah Percy's role reminds me of the movie Cube and its protagonist.
Physical box of secrets.
The creature almost got a jumpscare on me, but the noise it made as it scurried across wasn't loud enough.
That blind girl is crazy, haha.
Red mark, so visual.
I still think his color is red.
Focus on red chair.
Stab.
Focus on blue chair.
Noah sits in the blue chair with bad color.
"Ivy do your very best not to scream." She asks, "What?"
Yellow is the safe color. 20150404 12:36AM PT
Hmm.
So I figured it was fake, because how can you make a truce with beasts.
But... it's quite a shock to learn that it was just the townspeople themselves.
If Noah has a unique color... not sure.
Guess she would look more distraught.
That's quite a plot twist.
Director cameo.
Oh, and while I didn't see the big plot twist, I did think the skinnings were an inside job. 20150404 1:14AM PT
[20170306: I found out that actress Bryce Dallas Howard (Ivy Walker in The Village) is the leading actress of Jurassic World (2015); she looks so different (11 years is a lot of time)]
