The Last Samurai (2003)

Despite being seen only once, this movie is one of my favorites. First, it is an action movie. There is some drama which is good, but it is balanced with the action. There's two scenes I love in particular. The first is when Tom Cruise's character is dueling his master. Perhaps this was preceded by a montage. In any case, you should probably know what I'm talking about when you've seen the movie. Then there's the scene where Tom Cruise's character battles a bunch of people, and the movie repeats the effect from the first scene I mentioned.

I like these two scenes the way I like Joseph Gordon-Levitt's gravity-changing fight scene in Inception (2010).

I read the plot on Wikipedia.org to remind myself what happened in the second movie.

Favorite scene: Magneto escapes prison.

Actor Shawn Ashmore's twin brother Aaron Ashmore is Jimmy Olsen in Smallville.

I don't remember how it compares to X-Men (2000) or X-Men: The Last Stand (2006). IMDb.com currently shows a rating of 7.4 for the first movie, 7.8 for the second, and 6.9 for the third.
